It's time for an upgrade

Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Built tough

Kicker's 40CS354 speaker set provides low-end from a tough 3-1/2" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. These speakers will sound great whether they're powered by a factory radio or an aftermarket car stereo.

Great product. Extremely satisfied

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just installed these bad boys in a 1986 mustang 5.0. Delivery was wicked fast and putting them in was even quicker. For the price you can't beat these kickers. The only reason to upgrade from these is if you were near deaf and had to blast your system on max volume to hear anything. I would recommend these kickers to anyone looking to upgrade their musical experience while driving.

Speakers don't fit

Robert from Pembroke, NH on 6/1/2016

2006 Pontiac Solstice
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After being assured by Crutchfield that these speakers were the correct size for my application, they don't fit. To be more specific, they fit in the location (rear upright panel) but they are too deep and force the panel to bow outward significantly so that the panel fasteners near the speaker won't seat properly. Door speakers and a new head unit are next on my list but I'll skip Crutchfield and take my car to a professional installation shop and let them do the job.

Pros: speakers sound okay for the size - no bass, all treble.

Cons: don't fit as they should

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love Crutchfield but they let me down here. These speakers were said to not fit my dash speakers in my Volvo. They would require extensive extra wiring and cutting the rep said. I order them, put them in place, plug them in using the adapters(life savers) and drill two holes and they fit fine. When I told the rep about it they never bothered to respond lol. Oh well, they fit and that's what matters. As for the speakers they are okay. A little over powering to be so close to the face. Good tweet and handling of lows. Rounded out my bass but will need a small sub to complete the sound. Rounds out my car with its 2 5.25 speakers. Recommendation? For the price, not bad, but I'd go with a nicer speaker if I had the chance again as the sound could be more refined.

2006 Chrysler 300
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced stock Boston Acoustic dash speakers. Fit was no problem and did this during a 15 minute break. Was very easy with the wire adapters. I did have to bend the adapter prongs a bit to slide them on. Sound was so very different. From stage is so clear at first I thought too much but after a break in period I'm digging them. CDs sound good and punchy. The radio however sound kind of tinny. Probably cuz I'm still stock HU . But I'm usually jammin to CDs anyway. Lots of metal. Megadeath and Pantera sound bad ass.

Pros: Easy install ,direct fit for 2006 300C. Cleans up the treble and much more punchy and articulate.

Cons: It is a bit too trebly just listening to the radio. But I'm guessing it's because I have the stock 300 HU and can't really shape.

Vast improvement over stock, but the highs are overpowering

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab. The install was quick and simple thanks to the free harness adapters and master install guide. They are a huge improvement over stock units. They are hard to control though. I have the 8.4an HU and even with the treble turned all the way down, and the mid almost all the way down, some of the highs are still overpowering, to the point of being piercing or scratchy. I have had them in for a few days now and was thinking maybe one of the units is damaged until I saw on the comments here other Ram owners have had similar experiences. Perhaps it is a difference in impedance with the stock units these replaced? Perhaps location coupled with the factory system makes these not a great match? I am giving it a couple more days before I decide to possibly try other alternatives. In closing, they illustrate how lacking the factory speakers were for sure, but they don't live up to thd promise of what they could be either.

Pros: Price, installation ease

Cons: Overly bright, almost a bit scratchy at times

2015 Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these as dash speakers on my 2015 Ram 1500 along with 4 kicker speakers for the doors, and the Alpine Power-Pack U. These speakers are very well made and I stole them for the price of $19.99 on sale here. As odd of a complaint as this is, they sound TOO good. Well more like TOO powerful. These bad boys sound great, no distortion, but they overpower the door speakers completely! I have the treble and mid turned down as far as they go on the factory equalizer, and I have the speakers faded 3/4 to the rear, just so they don't wash out everything else. With all of those adjustments, at 1/2 to 3/4 volume is where the Kicker shines in most applications, although anything with crisp highs will pierce the ears and have you turning that knob down quick. I have adjusted the amplifier gain to ZERO and these speakers still Rock & Roll, so it's not an issue with the amp. In conclusion, these speakers are very good, but for the application as a dash speaker on GEN IV Ram, probably over powering. Crutchfield Advisers were more than helpful and recommended Polk db351 speakers as an alternative, since they have a more mellow sound.

Pros: Great price, top notch quality control and the high's and mid's are great.

Cons: Way overpowered with and without amplifier. Bass is lacking (what do you really expect from a speaker this size though)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replacing my OEM dash speakers, i really felt the positive difference. However installation was a bit tricky the speakers files the hole, however i was only to use one screw, and was not able to screw in the other one because i keep hitting the window corner. The treble was too high, where i had the treble on 5, and now i had to reduce to 2. but the sound is much better than before.

Pros: Much better sound quality over OEM speakers

Cons: little tricky to install, i will have to dismount again and try fitting both screws. treble is too high

Installation was simple, but the "highs" are scratchy on certain frequencies, no matter what the source (radio, cd). Surprising and disappointing, and I don't want to deal with the hassle of returning/exchanging them. Speakers are connected to a brand new Kenwood head unit, so actually not sure if it's the speakers or the head unit, but I presume it's the speakers.

Pros: Simple installation.

Cons: Lousy sound.

I ordered these to replace the dash speakers in my 2015 Ram 1500 Express. The difference is immediately noticeable. The sound from the dash is much louder now and the highs are much cleaner and crisper than ever before. These will off-set the Kicker subwoofer I plan to install soon perfectly. For the low price these speakers are a bargain. Also, anybody can install these. I know nothing about car audio systems and was able to install these in 20 minutes.

I just finished installing these Kickers in my 2015 Ram, which has a really nice factory touch screen A/V unit but crappy factory speakers that didn't do it justice at all. Installation of these units took all of 5 min with the free plug n' play harnesses Crutchfield included. Impressions are than they get a hell of a lot louder, stay clean at high volume and sound much more crisp and accurate than the factory speakers. I feel like I stole these at 39 bucks.

Pros: Value value value. great sound in a small package. Durable, quality build.

Cons: None noted.

Clean

MikeL from North Carolina on 7/10/2015

When I installed these speakers, they really cleaned up the audio in my Ram 1500. Before vocals were muddy and treble was lacking. Now I can really hear the mids and vocals. I have had higher end 3.5 speakers in other vehicles, but for the ease to fit (direct drop in) and price, you can not beat these speakers. Also added benefit is increased sound levels, meaning they are loud!

Pros: clean and clear price installation ease

Cons: none

These small speakers amped up the sound in my 2014 Ram Hemi. With all that horsepower it was in need of some sound upgrades. for the price and 10 minute installation, including a smoke break, they were the best and easiest upgrade for the price. I will change the rest of the speakers that were Hecho en Mexico with some Merica styled sound pushers and will look to Crutchfield and Kicker to "fill the void."

Pros: ease of installation, sound production

Cons: would not allow me to travel back in time

i believe that while i am no audiophile i do have extremely picky taste in speakers and their sound. that being said if you are replacing factory or old speakers with these you can't help but be blown away with the quality of sound from these small speakers. i have a 2012 ram express and once i replaced the speakers with these i could now hear sound that never came from the dash before. i have spent countless hours looking for good quality and low price options and kicker delivered on that. i would say that these are easily better quality than polk, infinity and jbl. you can not go wrong with these, try them you won't be disappointed.

Pros: price, quality, sound

Cons: None!

Good Factory Replacement

IsaacV from Albuquerque,NM on 2/23/2015

These aren't fantastic speakers by any means. You're not going to get amazing sound quality, deep lows, etc out of these, but if you've got a truck that only has those 3 1/2" openings in the dash for front speakers, these are a major improvement. As long as you're not trying to drive a ton of bass out of them, they deliver clean audio at high volumes.

Pros: + Bolted right into the factory speaker mounts + Clean mids and highs at any reasonable volume + Very inexpensive

Cons: - They have all the low end you'd expect in speakers this size

They fit as well as the original speakers did, but I had no idea how much better the sound would be. With the free wiring connectors that come free from Crutchfield, installation was a breeze. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for speakers and the 3 1/2 inch range.

Pros: The mid to high range sound that these speakers give is the perfect complement to a subwoofer system.

Cons:

Dont know why Crutchfield doesn't list these for Dodge Challengers...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ive been upgrading my 2013 Dodge Challenger speakers slowly. Ive been using the Kicker CS series which are great, they are night and day if you compare the factory speakers. First I did the doors with the rear deck following. I then started looking into the front deck but Crutchfield doesn't list them on their website. After searching the challenger forums and found out the fronts are 3.5's, I bought a set of these speakers. Instead of listing my challenger as the car, I selected a 2013 dodge ram 1500 as my vehicle (since the harnesses are all the same). I started browsing the front deck speakers, added these 3.5 CS speakers, it added the free adapters to my cart and I checked out. The speakers and package came in shortly after and with the help of plastic nylon tools from harbor freight, I was able to pop out the plastic covering the speakers. Few minutes later these bad boys were up and running. Wow. At first I really couldn't hear the front speakers. These speakers changed that.

Pros: Great sound/bass

Cons: Not listed under Dodge Challengers

Crutchfield response on December 9, 2014 Glad to hear you got these speakers to fit! Our database shows that they are a very tight fit in the dash due to the mounting height - the dash trim panel could smash against the tweeters. Based on your experience, we'll have our research team take another look.

Could not hear previous speakers in dash. After taking ~5 minutes to install with the supplied cables that hooked up great, I heard music from my dash that was never there in my previous factory speakers. Magnets are at least twice as heavy. Sounds great....along with 4 6x9 Kickers in the doors with a factory radio (~13 Watts RMS). Have had to use my fade to move volume to the back from the front. Very happy and would buy again.

Pros: Great sound, low cost, easy installation

Sound better than expected

CoryW from Indianapolis, IN on 10/18/2014

I originally installed these with plans to replace them latter with a higher quality component set. The stock speakers in my Chrysler were so bad I didn't even listen to music in the car. These, as expected, were significantly better but to my surprise they actually give a fair amount of life to the audio system. I have mine high-passed at at 400Hz; if you set the crossover too low they will suffer. I'm replacing theme with a component kit, but did consider connected these Kickers to an amplifier and crossing them at 600Hz.

Pros: Affordable price; synthetic film tweeter is good for low powered systems, and is not overly "bright"; surprisingly detailed.

Cons: "Kicker" branded

Cons: May distort at loud settings.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These fit perfectly in my 2013 Chrysler 300c. It has the Alpine system with 276 watt amp. The stock speakers leave a lot to be desired in that they have no "punch" or warmth. These little Kicker's are a tremendous improvement in terms of clarity and soundstage. I was looking at the Infinity Reference 3.5's but I thought I'd take a gamble on these for less than half the price. I'm glad I went with Kicker. Installation was a simple, 30-minute job and the harness adapter was a perfect solution to cutting and splicing the factory wiring. Highly satisfied with these speakers!

Pros: Great improvement in clarity and stereo separation. Easy install. Perfect fit. Cheap.

Cons: Crutchfield says that these don't fit in the dash of the 2013 Chrysler 300c but they fit perfectly.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Between the low price and surprisingly big sound these put out I could not be happier. These were originally bought as replacement speakers for the stock dash speakers in my 2000 Saab 93 hatchback. Just for the hell of it I installed them in my 2001 Saab 93 convertible (expecting to replace them with something higher end like Polk reference speakers) but I would up liking them so much that I left them in there and wound up getting CS series speakers for the rest of the convertible installation. I will order more of these for the hatchback. I WOULD recommend using some 600hz bass blockers with them though, especially if you will be adding an amp and a sub as I did. You won't need the bass they produce and they will sound much clearer when the lows are reduced.

Pros: Great sound. Solidly constructed.

Cons: None. The only limitations are inherent in ANY small diameter cone speaker.

Must have for Altima drivers

Java483 from Lincoln, NE on 1/20/2014

If you own a 2007-2012 Altima with the non-Bose stereo these are a must have replacement for the dash speakers. Night and day difference. I've replaced the door and rear speakers as well but couldn't really tell a difference. In fact I think it sounded worse so I went back to the stockers. I'm now in the process of trying an amplifier and see if that makes it better. Honestly unless you're an audiophile I would just replace these and call it a day. Car audio can easily suck you in thinking if I did this and this it would sound better. Don't be like me and know when to say when. And fortunately the dash speakers are the easiest to replace. Best $40 you will spend. The only other thing I would recommend is an aftermarket head unit. That is where I started and next to these speakers made the biggest sound improvement not to mention the additional functionality you get.

Pros: Easy to install, great sound, cheap price

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these Kicker CS35s for installation into the dash of a 2004 Saab 93 Aero. The Crutchfield website indicated that they would be a good fit and the speakers had come recommended from a Saab forum. First, the ordering experience from Crutchfield was great. Easy to order from the website and delivery was very fast. As previously stated, the website was also helpful in determining which products were compatible with my car. Now for the speakers. Installation was easy without any modification requires. I simply removed the old speaker and placed the new speaker. I did not even need to splice or solder as the included wires had solder ends that plugged into the clips on the car side connector. A bit of electrical tape and I was ready to go. Mounts are in the same place as the old speakers, so no issues there. The grill fit over the units with no contact. I am still in the 50-100 hour break in period, but there is a noticeable improvement in the sound. The mids are much more pronounced than before adding to the thump of the stock subwoofers. The highs are a bit stiff, but I believe this is still due to the break in. I adjusted the bass about an eighth to quarter turn past center and it blended out the stiff highs for now. For the price, the fit, and sound, I would definitely recommend these speakers. The loss of one star is simply for the stiff highs at the moment, but I believe this will soften as the speakers break in.

These speakers are amazing!!! I replaced my stock dash speakers in my '12 Challenger and what a difference! I am now hearing sounds in songs that I did not know were there. You can't beat the price either! The only issue that I had with my order is only the fact that Crutchfield says that these do not fit in my car. When I first called to asked about the fit, I was dismissed quickly with the rep on the phone telling me that they did not have any that would fit my car... I was very disappointed. After doing a bit of research on the web and calling and talking to a different rep, I decided to go for it. Needless to say, they worked out perfectly. I had to make 0 modifications.

Pros: Price and Quality. What more do you need.

Cons: none so far... I installed them today.

Great speakers for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These little speakers made a world of difference, which was noticeable the second I took them out of the package. First off, they weighed 3 times as much as the factory speakers they replaced. Second, when I fired up my stereo after the replacement, I felt my hair get blown back from the incredible sound they put out. Blown away by the difference in sound quality in my truck thanks to these speakers (and the 6.5" Kickers I replaced in the doors and behind the seats in my truck). For what you get, the price couldn't be better. Oh, and Crutchfield is the best. Fact.

Pros: Great price, great sound, easy installation

Cons: None.

Excellent speakers A++++

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As always, Crutchfield is awesome with always making your installation easy with all the necessary parts, installation Manuals, etc. Was looking for a simple replacement for my 2010 jeep cherokee. These tweeters were very easy to install and took about 8 minutes to install both. These little but powerful speakers quickly made a quick first impression appearance and sound wise. Very very happy and the price is reasonable and worth it.

2010 Nissan Altima
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was glad to see that there was finally 3 1/2" dash replacement speakers available for my 2010 Altima, but skeptical at the same time. How much improvement can come from swapping out 3 1/2" speakers, right? TONS! These little things are great. I highly recommend using an 8mm wrench if you have an Altima. The speakers were too close to the windshield to use a screwdriver or a metric socket. I didn't have one when trying to swap out #1. It took over an hour and a half by slowly turning screws with needle-nose pliers. I then came to my senses, drove to the hardware store to buy a wrench set, then installed #2 in 40 minutes, including the 20 minute detour to the store. Now kicking myself for not buying the wrench sooner. Overall, this was a breeze (once I had the right tools). Couldn't be happier with the results.

Pros: inexpensive, easy upgrade

Cons: my car has a windshield

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for power and control. Polypropylene woofers are also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

Thanks for your question. I don't have specs for each individual speaker. The shipping weight of the package is 1.7 lbs. That includes the two speakers, instruction manual, speaker wire and connectors. Hope that helps. [ Kenny  Apr 16, 2016 ]  Staff
I have them on the dash of a 2012 sonata turbo. They fit nice and tight. The magnet is quite big for this size, but they did fit. I dont know about the jeep, but it should. Great little speaker. [ Erick  Oct 24, 2015 ]

3.5 inch speakers? first get bigger ones, second yes cross them over at smallest 100hz but mine are crossed over at 150hz because my sub play up to that. I recommend crossing them over near the frequency your sub is crossed under at so they over lapping frequencies don't sound redundant, plus your sub will reproduce those frequencies better. [ michael jonas  Jan 02, 2016 ]
I don't have bass blockers on mine. I was under the impression they have a built in crossover. I can play them loud on my head unit and they sing real nice with no distortion. Still, I wouldn't feed them less than 80hz with a 6db high pass filter from my head unit. To be sure, I've never noticed distortion even without the HPF turned off. As far as your install, they should fit with minimal modifications. Call Crutchfield tech support and get the specs (cutout diameters etc) to be sure. Hope this helps. :) [ ANTHONY R  Jul 01, 2014 ]
I have these in my ram 1500 and they fit perfect. I put bass blockers in and would recommend those. [ JESSE  Jul 01, 2014 ]
