Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Built tough

Kicker's 40CS44 speaker set provides low-end from a tough 4" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. These speakers will sound great whether they're powered by a factory radio or an aftermarket car stereo. Grilles are included.

Installed these in the speaker pods to be installed on a Club Car Precedent Golf Cart. Perfect fit!

It was alil rough trying to figure out how to mount the speaker in my a4. After looking at it for 30 or so min an getting another set of eyes we figured it out.

Pros: It was a good enough speaker to replace in my car with the factory Bose system.

Cons: I only replaced one of the door speakers because it wasn't any difference that was noticeable from my factory set up.so no additional power added to my car system

Needed an inexpensive set of speakers to replace the spent OE door speaker in my old SUV. The Kicker speakers fit that description perfectly. Quality materials, solid Solid frame and easy installation. Plus 20.00 off ! a no brainer. Sound is very good quality, not much base but then they are only 4" speakers. good high frequency dispersion from the tweeter... For an OE replacement, these are hard to beat.

Pros: Installation, sound quality, price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed a pair into the front doors of a 2007 VW Jetta Gli. I was not aware at first that these replace the midrange speakers. They do not fit perfectly but no modifications are requires. I put washers under the screws because the distance was a little to far from the clip holes in the panel. The sound is pretty much the same as for the CS64 - clear for high frequencies but almost no bass. I replaced these for broken mid range speakers. So I am happy to have gotten rid of the scraping noise in my door and the stock bass keep providing sufficient low frequencies.

Pros: Good price, clear treble

Cons: Low bass

This small speaker has clear mid-range and high frequency sound. As it is small in less than ideal setting (rear door 2006 Silverado) it does not have any bass to speak of. Overall. as an inexpensive upgrade replacing the old factory speaker is worth it.

Pros: Clean, clear mids and highs.

Cons: Small. Replaced original 6" factory unit and nothing else other 4 x 6 is available.

1988 Toyota MR2
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm shocked at how clear these tiny speakers are. I bought these for my 1988 Toyota MR2 to replace the factory 4" dash mounted speakers, and I was expecting an improvement, but I was not expecting to be absolutely wowed by the clarity. The highs just come through so effortlessly, it's incredible. The mids are delivered without much fuss either. Incredible value for money on these. Install note for fellow AW11 MR2 owners: You will need to fold two of the mounting tabs on your brand new speakers to mount them in the dash. Don't be afraid, these speakers are awesome, and while it always pains me to desecrate anything brand new that I just spent hard earned money on, folding in the two tabs is worth the pain.

Pros: Highs are absolutely phenomenal Mids are well toned and delivered without fuss Top Drawer Build Quality

Cons: Lows are not handled well (to be expected) Connection block is a little flimsy in my opinion

Best 4" speakers on the market

1994 Toyota Pickup
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I don't normally write product reviews but, these are the best 4" speakers on the market. They fit my vehicle as it said in the description, and they sound great (they have quality bass, not usual with 4" speakers). I plan o powering them using a small amp but they sound perfect without it. I was a little weary buying these bc of the 150 watt power max but surprisingly they sound great!

Pros: Quality bass, clarity, easy installation, although I didn't use the grills, it's still nice they are included.

Cons: The wiring adapter didn't work with my specific vehicle, but kicker included wiring to straight wire to the stock wires which worked just as well if not better!

Kicker 40CS44 Pillar location on a 95 GMC Safari

Written by: Hil from California on December 12, 2014

1995 GMC Safari
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My review is based on a budget DIYer who just wanted to fix 3 blown speakers out of a 6 speakers configuration. Bought a pair to replace the stock factory speakers on a 1995 GMC Safari which already had a JVC deck that requires 50W per channel. My van has both rear door speakers blown, and the pillar speakers are the first 2 I replace in order to compare with those that are still working on my van. Initially after testing them, I feel they are just slightly better than the stock factory ones which I could tell they were stock ones that had been on the van since day 1 because the removal instructions from Crutchfield was spot on the same. Was expecting more, but once I replaced the blown rear door speakers with a pair of Kicker 41DSC674 6-3/4", the overall sound quality made me smile. Replacing these speakers yield no issues and they fit exactly the same as stock using the connectors provided. If the connectors seems tight, use a little sharp pick to slightly "open" up the female connector and support the tab on the speaker when connecting it up. The full Kicker setup held up to my power metal for 1 week now and I can hear all my favourite bassist's notes. I am satisfied.

Pros: Fits OEM location with no issue. Slightly better than stock speakers in terms of clarity. Hardly noticed an improvement on bass, until rear door speakers were replaced. It may be due to the pillar configuration or the nature of a 4" speaker? (Paired with full set of Kicker 41DSC674 6-3/4" sounds like OEM factory setup on a 2010 Corolla as a guide). Very pleased that Crutchfield provided the instruction sheet and GMC wire connectors. Priced great.

Cons: No cons for my application as I just want to replace 3 blown speakers out of 6 total. Not an ICE quality chaser.

Not Happy!

Written by: Cape Cod Bob from Massachusetts on December 4, 2014

I bought these speakers less than a year ago and installed them in my Chevy Silverado (Factory Stereo) per the instructions. In less than a year, they are already distorted and sound like crap! I'm already forced to shut down the rear speakers until I replace the rears again. I would not recommend these speakers to anyone! Waste of money unless you keep your radio tuned to a Talk Radio station.

Pros: Install easily.

Cons: Speakers cannot handle the power of a Factory installed stereo and sound extremely weak and distorted.

Written by: Rick from JAX, FL on July 31, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers did not fit in the dash as claimed by the ad. They hit a lip on the firewall the protrudes slightly into the speaker opening, not allowing them to lay flat. This would not allow the grill cover to lay flat either. Never got to listen to them. Had to order another brand of speaker (which did fit).

Pros: Don't know, did not get to listen to them.

I would give the speaker performance five stars, but the install was a different story. These speakers are coupled with a Sony MEX-GS610BT head unit and Kicker front door speakers.

Pros: Sound quality outstanding.

Cons: These speakers required modification beyond the do-it yourselfer's capability to fit in the rear pillars of a 1999 Silverado regular cab. You WILL need to cut metal to install. If you have a pneumatic cut-off wheel or a small electric one, it's not a big deal. If you're not capable of this, I recommend you try something else. If you ARE capable, the sound is awesome!

Theses speakers fit the stock VW mounting bracket as long as you carefully drill four mounting holes and allow for installation of the VW speaker to hide the "custom" installation. Not a bad little speaker here. Good performance for size and price. Feeding it 40 watts from a Rockford four channel. With baffles they set mid range stage decent enough. Good sound vs size vs price. And as always clean and easy install with adapters and harnesses from Crutchfield. I do recommend using the baffels offered with them. Installed in an 03 Silverado extended cab.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers replaced JVC speakers that had been damaged by heat and a broken window. The instructions for installation were very straight forward and quite easy. Even though there was a problem with the first set of speakers, Crutchfield support was great. They got a new set of speakers to us the next day.

Pros: Easy installation, great customer support

Cons: A little weak in mid-range

I replaced the speakers in the cab of my NEWHOLLAND 4040 tractor. They sound great, ten times better than the ones that came in the cab. When you spend hours on a tractor it is good to have great sound to help the hours go by. Great bass for a small speaker, I am very happy with them I got them in two days !

1994 BMW 325IS
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I feel that these speakers were a great buy for me. I've bought Kickers in the past and loved them, and these are no exception. I installed them on the rear deck of my 1994 BMW 325is in a short period of time (10 minutes I think). The sound definitely livened up from the factory speakers. I would definitely buy them again to replace any other speakers.

Pros: Installed in minutes, fits in the original rear deck location, good value for money

Cons:

Added these to the back doors of my 98 Subaru Forester to supplement the Alpines in the front and Sound Ordnance Sub under the seat with the signal provided by Pioneer. I found they provided a balanced response with adequate tone throughout. A great addition for anyone looking to replace oem speakers.

Pros: Broad tonal spectrum with clear mids and highs

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

You truly can not expect a whole lot out of a 4 inch dash speaker, however these little guys sound great installed. Far improved sound quality over stock ones. Not much in low bass world but clear, loud and decent thump in snare drum sound. Did not need the wiring harness sent with speakers, they plugged right in to the stock wiring harness.

Pros: cant go wrong choosing these, Name says it all "kicker"

Cons: None

1994 Chevrolet C Series
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I put these speakers into the factory dash locations in a chevy pickup truck. They fit no problem. These are some of the clearest car speakers I have ever owned. Excellent high and midrange response. Because of their size and a lack of depth in the dash, the bass is pretty weak. I have two 6x9's mounted in boxes behind the seat which provide plenty of bass so the stereo sounds great but I can't move the seat back all the way so the boxes need to go. I am planning on getting another pair to install in the rear pillars and adding a small powered sub under the seat. Very pleased.

Pros: Inexpensive, great high end

Cons: bass pretty week

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very pleased overall with the ease of install and sound quality. I was replacing the front door speakers in my 2000 Audi A4 with the factory Bose system. They fit into the factory speaker mounts with little trimming and I was still able to use the factory rubber baffle/insulator as well with no modification at all. They sound great and have even more bass response than the factory Bose speakers did. Great buy for the price and I would recommend these to anyone.

Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for power and control. Polypropylene woofers are also resistant to moisture and high temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

1/2" PEI Balanced-dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEI balanced-dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with quick, detailed and spatially-correct imaging. PEI is an acronym for polyetherimide. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: That is not the best setup, but you can power those speakers with that amp as long as you set the gain properly and listen for distortion. If you ever hear distortion, then back off the volume until it stops. I would feel more comfortable using the 41KSC44 speakers with that amp. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  May 12, 2015 ]  Staff
