Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product was recommended by a Crutchfield tech. after installation I heard a horrible sound out of one speaker. Crutchfield gladly replaced the speakers and added bass blockers. After replacing the speakers there is still a horrible rattle out of the speakers. Now I just fade them out. While the service was excellent, I will not use this product or recommend them.

at first my stock speakers were good enough but when I started working on my vehicle i wasn't able to hear much between the loud exhaust and loud tires so I needed something to kick it up so I got a amp from a friend and I ended up putting these speakers in and I was able to hear my radio without having to turn the radio up. I am so happy with my purchase and very happy with Cruthfield. I've only ordered speakers of them and every set I got they worked great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Upgraded my factory cab corner speakers in my full-size Chevy, standard cab. These kick out great sound and are a great value. Install was simple and the provided wire harness kits made it even easier. Great product and quick delivery by Crutchfield. I can't speak to the performance through a factory stereo as I also upgraded my receiver so I could play my iPhone through the radio (97 k1500). Speakers seem to be just right for the power the JVC unit kicks out

Pros: Great price, clean sound

Cons: Don't push a lot of bass but they are 4x6's. Had to grind down the factory speaker brackets for these to fit (5 minute job with a file or Dremel tool)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced the OEM speakers in the front dash of my 1998 GMC Jimmy with these Kicker 40CS464's. The old speakers were small tweeters and were not working due to old age. These are of much better quality than the OEM's and they sound great. The fit was very good good. I had to make-shift a short harness using the old connectors, but it wasn't too bad. They have much more base than the OEM's, and add some more sound to the front end. Crutchfield was great to work with, and their support was extremely helpful.

Pros: Great OEM replacement speakers!

Cons: None.

These really cleaned up the treble in my truck. Stock location with very minor modification (screw holes enlarged). I'm running them direct from a Sony head unit. Very little response below 80hz, but they're 4x6 so you have to expect that. If you do amp/filter, note the manufacturer's spec on frequency response, I find it's precicely accurate. I would buy these again.

Pros: Clean highs, good fit in my truck's stock location

Cons: None

these little speakers kick some serious highs out, the construction is great, very sturdy and well made, it's a shame that they're hidden behind the factory grills in my sons truck, these look really nice too

Pros: great price, great quality, sound great but count on adding some subs if you want bass, these are like any other small speaker, you'll not get any low bass from them

Cons: there hidden in the truck...but that's not Kickers fault LOL

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these along with 6X9's to replace my old busted speakers. The volume is excellent. The highs are nice and clear. But not quite what I'd call audiophile quality. Could be my head unit and not the speakers, but I can't really say. These are a wonderful improvement over my old speakers. The sound can be loud and clear. If you want true audiophile sound you might consider a better upgrade. This is Kicker's mid-range speaker and seems to be a great value and sound that will please most listeners. Although Crutchfield supplied hardwear, I was able to use the screws that held my old speakers and the fit was great.

Pros: Excellent highs, great fit, good sound volume without an external amplifier.

Cons: Bass can be distorted at high volume

These speakers are an excellent upgrade. The woofer itself is sturdy and can handle loud volumes with ease. The bass response is audible but not powerful due to the small speaker size. The highs and mids however are fantastic. The highs are consistent and tamed unlike other speakers that are uncontrollable and have piercing highs. The mids are rich and the voices sound so real the artist sounds as if he or she is sitting right next to you. Kicker makes incredible products. To sum the entire experience: crisp.

Pros: Crisp, Tamed Highs, Rich Mids.

Cons: Not much bass.

Replace the stock front door speakers in my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am with these; all I can say is WOW are my ears ever happy I did. They have a nice crisp high end without sounding tinny like some other I've heard that combined with much improved bass handling (stock speakers bottomed out on heavy bass) gives a nicely balanced sound even when the volumes cranked up. Currently they are connected to a JVC KD-R950BT using the factory rear "Monsoon sound" speakers. I happy with my purchase, great buy for 4x6 speakers.

Pros: Nice price, well balance frequency response

Nice sounding speakers. Powered with Pioneer head unit and no amp. The bass is decent and the highs are very good.

Pros: Good Sound

Cons: Screws provided for install are total crap. The threads flatten out and would not thread into a pre-drilled hole. Used screws from hardware store and they worked well. Had to use die grinder to open up the mounting holes in the door in order to make the speakers mount flush. Not a huge job, just unexpected.

They sound really good on a kenwood ddx616 deck. You just need to play with all the functions available to tune them to your taste.didnt need bass that's what my sub is for

Pros: Fits perfect, sounds great

Written by: Wendell from West Texas on January 30, 2015

These Kickers replaced a pair Pioneer TSG4644R. Compared to the Kickers the Pioneers sound like a kids toy. Installed in the dash of a S10 pickup with a pair of Kicker 41DSC654 in the doors, an Alpine UTE-52BT HU and an Alpine KTP-445A power pack. Not going to do a lot of bumping with this set up but it has been an awesome upgrade over an older JVC HU driving stock speakers with no amp. Got most of the gear from Crutchfield and could not be happier. Surprised how loud these can go without distortion. New to Kicker speakers but they have really impressed with a great sound at an affordable price.

Pros: Great mids and more bass than expected. Loud for such a little speaker. Attached metal adapter plate much better then the plastic plates the come separate with other brands.

Cons: Not a perfect fit (magnets bear upon AC/heat ducts) but close enough that you can easily make them work.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was hesitant about buying these speakers because I am not a fan of Kicker audio. However, at the time they were affordable and I needed them in my car. I would give a 5 star for the price. Unfortunately, these speakers were not at all satisfactory. Their sound quality isn't great, they can not take much(mine blew in the 2 week of having them) without hardly turning them they would pop. Overall, I would only recommend these for emergency situations, but not a permanent speaker.

Pros: Cheap

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wanted to up date front speakers in 98 Wrangler TJ. All wiring in place and therefore with the installation kit provided I was able to fit these in a matter of 10 minutes, probably the easiest job I have undertaken....just a matter of unscrewing old ones and screwing in new ones. Feels great quality and while the difference in sound quality from the original speakers is not jaw-dropping different, you can hear a difference, much sharper quality and slight increase in volume.

Pros: Excellent quality, wonderful service, arrived quickly and easy installation, with clear instructions and all for a good price

Cons: If you want to really increase the sound in the vehicle you need more than simply these speakers, the best you will get over the original speakers is a noticeable but slight increase in sound depth and quality

Great speaker - much better than factory speaker in GMC Sierra. It even was a substantially beefier (heavier) speaker than the original. Nice crisp, clear sound - I like it. I did need to drill mounting holes - as the instructions noted.

Pros: Fairly easy install. Fantastic sound quality. If you only have money for fronts or rears in GMC/Chevy 1999-2004 - I would consider the rears - huge improvement over factory.

Cons: Would be great if the speakers also had the option of being mounted in a plastic GM-like bracket - as the front speakers do. Then they would mount as easily as those!

Great speaker for the price! Took a bit of modification to get them in the dash of the S-10, but not much, and Crutchfield warned me they wouldn't fit so that's not a complaint! The highs are so much better than the factory offering, the mids are great. I have bass blockers on them, so cant say much about bass, but one can't expect much bass from a speaker of this size. Worth every penny of the low price, and then some. Matched with the 6-3/4 two way kickers, the sound really improved. Excellent factory replacement, entry level speaker.

Kicker 4x6 speakers

Written by: MrInnovator from Sidney, Mt on November 5, 2013

1991 GMC Sierra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Performed well as Crutchfeild rep indicated they would, these were installed in the rear pillar's of my 91 GMC sierra, was not expecting much bass, pleasantly surprised at what it did put out despite its size, in fact so much so i had to dis-assemble the ext cab rear panels to find out what was causing an annoying bass vibration from these Kickers. Turns out GM had a factory speaker wire retainer clip just laying against the truck body behind the new speaker, foam taped the clip & all is well. DIY installers do yourself a favor and stick dwn anything that might rattle no matter how minor you may think it is. The bass in these small kickers seems to be enuf to vibrate anything loose in the speaker enclosure even if its just factory wires, silicone or tape them down its worth the effort of not taking apart all those panels ..again.

Pros: Kicker should re-name these speakers "Little Giants" they're are really not intended to be big performers but they do seem to put out enuf bass to please your average system. Was not expecting much better than my 4" dashtop Kenwoods out of the Kicker 4x6's especially as a 2 way speaker but no disappointments there. If you dont want to, or can't add any size larger to your vehicle these Kickers should please you. If you need "thud" bass look at larger speakers or powered sub.

Cons: None to speak of other than the clips on the back of the speaker are on the wimpy side be careful when you install the larger plastic wire harness it bends easy & could break if forced. Gone are the good ol days when manufacturers rivited brackets to the speaker frame & you pushed your speaker wires onto the terminals vertically, & you could hear them click solidly in place.

So while crutchfield is awesome and I will use them again I will never get these speakers again.

Not Exactly What I Was Hoping For

2010 Chevrolet Silverado
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I wanted a set of speakers that would enhance my factory radio in my 2010 Silverado. My factory speakers were not blown, I just wanted something with a little more "umph". I did an online chat with Crutchfield and these speakers are what they recommended over some of the more expensive models. They discussed things I am not familiar with such as hertz, frequency range, etc. Crutchfield boasts themselves as professionals and hence I took what they said as solid advice and made the purchase thinking I just saved myself some money if what Crutchfield said is true. A better speaker for less! Well.....not so much. I took the time to remove my seat belts, remove the trucks plastic, drilled 4 new holes to mount them, they fit just fine, put everything back together, then turned the stereo on. On low 20% power they sound equivalent to or have maybe a hint more of a high end "tinny" sound. At 50% power, the bass is more like a popping sound, not distorted, but definitely not "BASS". Anything over 50% power is well ... just a waste... they cannot handle it. Again, this is a factory head unit, no super power here. Ok, so overall, if you have a set of blown speakers these will make an awesome replacement and nobody ever has to know what's in there as they fit nicely. If your looking for a nice sound / bass upgrade, like I was, these are not it. I cannot say for sure if the higher priced, higher end speakers are any better, as I have no intention of ripping these out.

Pros: Nice fit, relatively easy install, A great replacement speaker, but not an upgrade to the factory. Crutchfield provided speaker wire adapters so that no cutting of the factory wires had to be done. (very nice touch). Install instructions were also very nice to have. (Go Crutchfield!)

Cons: No real audible improvement over factory speakers, just an ok, factory equivalent replacement.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replacing my rear speakers in a '93 Nissan 240sx these kicker speakers were a great solution. With a far superior pitch range and great output the speakers are great for the middle and high frequency audio. Bass and low frequent bypasses or eliminators would be a good idea since it naturally doesn't translate low frequency at average volume well.

Pros: Good range High output for small speakers Clear sound

Cons: Odd mounting fitment, could just be my car.
