After seeing how many reviews/how popular this product I really wanted to see for myself how these speakers sound. I went to Best Buy and saw these connected to a Pioneer deck (which I have). Out of all the 6.5" coxial speakers on display, which included Pioneer TS-A1675R, Alpine Type-S, and all other popular speakers within the price range.. the Kicker 40CS654 were the only speakers to handle adding bass boost even up to +6 on almost full volume! All the other speakers would distort after +2 bass boost, which really impressed me.
After that experience, I decided to purchase them. I first purchased them on July 31st and the projected eta was Aug 4th. On Aug 1st, the UPS label was created.. but was stuck there and the package was not scanned.. on Aug 4th, the speakers were not delivered. I contacted Crutchfield customer service on Aug 5th telling them my situation and the associate gave me a new order with free overnight shipping.. which the next business day will be Aug 8th. That is so awesome of them!
UPS label was created within the next hour, scanned, and delivered on Aug 8th. The old order is still in "created label"... Guess they never received it.
I have a Pioneer DEH-X5800HD with no amp. These speakers sound great paired with them! I know they have to "break in" but they put out more bass than my Rockford Fosgate Prime R165X3's which they replaced.
I will definitely put have another pair for the my rear deck. The tweeters are a bit harsh if
Pros: Good clarity, great bass (even with bass boost), great price, shallow size, and quality build.
I know for sure these will sound very nice powered by an amp. I will most likely purchase an Alpine KTP-445U to power these bad boys.
Cons: Didn't buy these speakers to begin with.
