It's time for an upgrade

Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Built tough

Kicker's 40CS674 speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. These speakers sound great powered by a factory radio or an aftermarket car stereo, and they'll really rock when connected to an external amplifier. Grilles are included.

Product Highlights:

  • 2-way 6-3/4" speakers (pair)
  • polypropylene woofer cone with polyester foam surround
  • 1/2" PEI balanced dome tweeter
  • power range: 2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 40-20,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-7/8"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why replace your factory speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

Good...I guess

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Replaced my factory speakers with these. I don't notice a big difference...in fact I left one side in and put the other side in and played some music...really couldn't tell. Maybe I'm deaf or don't appreciate the little subtle differences...but I think I could've saved some money and did nothing...I'm not unhappy with these...just not blown away.

Installed these in my 03 Silverado front doors, just a couple holes drilled and installed with ease. These along with the 4x6 Kickers in rear door give more sound than stock speakers.

Clean replacement for Trans Am sail panel speakers

Written By WS6, NJ on Thursday, November 06, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After viewing several speakers from different manufacturers, at the suggestion of a Crutchfield advisor, I replaced the two damaged stock Monsoon sail panel speakers in my 2001 Trans Am with these Kickers. The fit was close to exact, wiring simple and the sound is clean. They don't give (often annoying) boomy bass, but do deliver the clean bass I want to hear. and appreciate. Great suggestion, Crutchfield!

Pros: Easy, quick installation with no modifications other than simple bypass of the harness connectors necessary. I soldered the factory wires to the supplied connectors and used the original speakers' screws and nuts. It was an easy half-hour job. The price was right for what I wanted.

Cons: None to date.

Great Sound - Rear needs modification

Written By Fudoshin, High Point, NC on Monday, October 06, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered 4 of these speakers to replace the stock units in a 2006 Pontiac Vibe. The front speakers went in without a hitch, however, the rear speakers required a bit more work. The speakers themselves fit the old opening just fine but the supplied adapter ring/bracket that they mounted in was another story. I ended up having to actually trim some of the adapter ring itself to fit the door panel and had to drill two (2) holes in the panel to mount the bracket on each of the rear doors. This wouldn't have been a huge deal except there was no indication at all when buying these that they would be anything but a good fit. Mounting issues aside these speakers are a GREAT sounding upgrade to stock and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them just make sure you do as much research as possible to find out if there will be mounting issues.

Pros: Fantastic upgrade over stock.

Cons: Mounting issues need to be explained or pointed out before purchase. It's not a pleasant surprise to find out you have to drill into a car when you weren't expecting it.

I purchased a set to replace worn-out factory speakers. The consultant online suggested these, based on the budget range I gave him (15 yr old vehicle). They were easy to install and fit right into the existing slots. The sound has dramatically improved. I search each morning for my favorite CDs as it is fun to listen to music again.

Pros: easy install good sound

Compared to the factory door speakers these are miles ahead. Replaced and was immediately overjoyed at the difference in sound even without an amp pushing them. Can't wait to get the rear done in my 07 Silverado.

Pros: Great sound, no additional power required.

Kickers do kick

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a Suburban that sounded awful because the stock paper speakers had failed. I really didn't know where or what to look for, but CJ from Crutchfield made it happen. He chose the Kicker 40CS674 for the (2) front doors and (2) middle doors. It made a world of difference and sounded even better than it did stock! I paid an easy price and they came with everything I needed. I installed them all in less than an hour. Definite thumbs up to Crutchfield and Kicker for the quality and support. Thanks again.

Pros: -Awesome design -Looks great -Sounds as good as they look -Install was a breeze!

Cons: None whatsoever. The only thing I can think of anyone complaining about is some may need to drill new holes. Seriously though, it's an extra minute or 2 of your time and it's really not a big deal at all. Buy these if you're thinking about it.

This was a great adition for my 1998 Nissan frontier. They really added to the sound quality. I took out the factory speakers that were all torn apart. It does not have enough bad for my taste, but that's why I bought a subwoofer. Which was also a kicker and putting these two together makes my system really come together.

Not a Stock Replacement

Written By GH, Salisbury, NC on Monday, August 18, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Speakers work great, they were NOT a direct replacement on my 2004 Trailblazer. I had to cut and grind the stock speaker mounting brackets to get them to fit. They sound good but the install took a lot longer than it should have, not too impressed with the "Stock replacement" label that they were given.

Pros: Sound good Price

Cons: Had to modify the stock brackets to get them to fit

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not 100 watts rms each only 50 each which was disappointing. Bass is kinda non existent even when they are fully powered by my polk audio 660 4 channel. For the money they are decent filler speakers

Pros: Okay price for what you get

Cons: Not actually that powerful. Distortion at 45rms or more They are kicker

Crutchfield response on Monday, August 18, 2014 We're sorry to hear that you're not happy with these speakers. They can indeed handle up to 100 watts RMS, so they should be able to handle the 75 watts RMS from your Polk amp easily. Before taking them out, give our Tech Support team a call. They might be able to suggest some adjustments to your amp or stereo to dial in the output so you get a better performance.

Good Speakers for the Price

Written By Jeff519, Chicago, IL on Sunday, August 17, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The 6.75in speakers from Kicker, actually measure closer to 6.5in. This worked out great for the 2004 Volvo S60 installation. I used the same speaker model in all 4 doors and with some creative work I was able to reuse the OEM factory mounting brackets as well. The car sounds better than when it was new. Mids and highs are clear, and the mid-bass is fantastic.

Pros: Fit and sound are great for this price point

Cons: none

Great value speakers, need a little more bass

Written By JeffS, South Plainfield, NJ on Tuesday, August 12, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed these in my 2000 Altima SE last weekend, replacing stock speakers. The difference in sound quality is HUGE. Highs and mid-range are clear and crisp. Bass is adequate but not great. I have to agree with some other reviewers' comments that if you want deep, resounding bass you'll need to add a sub-woofer to this speaker set. Having said that, this was an easy install and a very worthwhile upgrade. Good "bang for the buck". Crutchfield MasterSheet instructions were clear and accurate.

Pros: Good value. Clear mid-range and highs; adequate bass. Simple installation.

Cons: Lacks deep bass response; could use a sub-woofer.

These speakers sound great for the money. Customizing the rear deck in my Corolla for 6x9's would have been great, but as for replacing the stock speakers with these easily drop in upgrades, I will give them 5 stars.

Pros: Great sound, Good Bass and highs.

Cons: None.

Nice speakers, still want sub, however

Written By TroyW, Ellijay, GA on Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a tough review to post. I'd read on forums and such very diverse opinions on speakers and audio head units, which makes the bigger difference. I can clearly say the head unit being replaced in my 2011 Scion xB was the biggest improvement. It brought the audio system to life. But, I had already bought these Kickers for all 4 doors, so, I wanted to complete this leg of the journey to see the further improvement. So, the install was fairly easy, thanks to Crutchfield (again). Cranked up, they do offer obvious clarity and quality over the stock speakers, especially the rears. I do have to say, still, that they seem to be fairly easy to push too hard with bass. Being a bass player and drummer, and music producer, I like DEEP bass I can hear AND feel, and crystal clear highs. These speakers have a good range, but I still seem to think I need to add the subwoofer. Can pound these with bass, as I'd hoped I possibly could. Solid B to B+ grade for this price range.

Pros: Great, clear sound that's punchy and can be warm.

Cons: Easy to push too hard with bass, for my taste. Might still want a sub, if you like tons of bass, bordering on overkill without ruining overall mix.

Well made great sounding speakers. Exact fit. Glad I choice the polymer over the treated paper type because the original speakers outer edge just disintegrated. My recommendation, as soon as you notice your speakers not sounding quite right, replace them. BIG difference.

Pros: Great sound range, highs and lows, handles lots of base.

Cons: No cons

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed a pair of speakers for my Camaro Convertible and the local catch wasn't good enough. I needed BASS for the front doors. I researched Crutchfield and lots of reviews mentioned the lower end frequencies of these speakers. I am not disappointed.

To make it better I got them on the "scratch and dent" sell. I was worried they would come to me trashed but were in awesome condition! For those of you looking for details, the car is a 95 camaro z28 convertible with a 200w aftermarket headunit and no amps or subs. Absolutely no fitment issues. fit perfectly.

Not only did they have good base but they had surprisingly good treble as well. My real speakers were ok with bass but great with treble. So I thought until I got these. Now they don't stand up.

Pros: Great bass surprisingly good treble Perfect fitment Super price on the Scratch & Dent sell Hide well behind the stock grills not to showy

Cons: uh... none?

Breathing New Sound Into My Traverse

Written By Steve D., Medford, New York on Friday, July 11, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers are adequately packaged against damage and everything you need for the installation is included (hardware, wiring leads, crimps). The installation is pretty easy and straightforward.

I would warn anyone installing these speakers in a Chevy Traverse that the wiring harness color codes change from speaker position to position throughout the vehicle. Rule of thumb - the darker of the two leads at the installation position is the match for the grey/black speaker lead included with the speakers.

Pros: Good quality sound from the speakers.

Cons: The MasterSheet from Crutchfield is very good except for the information pertaining to the rear door speakers. The information and photograph for the Bose equipped vehicle is incorrect. You will need the Scoche adapter bracket for the rear doors.

Great speakers, but lack bass

Written By Steffon, woodhaven mi on Wednesday, June 25, 2014

these speakers are great, but everyone was saying they had awesome bass...I don't hear the awesome bass they are all talking about.thats the only reason it is getting a four star is because everyone was claiming awesome bass when it doesn't have it... but don't let that steer you away they are an awesome set of speakers, especially when paired with a good set of subs(alpine swa 12s4) they sound amazing. definitely would buy again

Pros: sound quality is great

Cons: not as much bass as everyone was claiming, but not too big of a deal when you buy a set of subwoofers

Lacks Lower Frequency Response

Written By media97, Leesburg, VA on Thursday, June 19, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was pretty excited to get these installed into my 2005 4runner (SR5, non JBL, non Nav). Upon installing the first 6.75 into the driver's door, I did a heads-up comparison to the stock Toyota 6x9 in the passenger door. Now just to baseline what I was using - Head Unit: Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD (14w RMS continuous). And, the surface area on the driver of a 6x9 (factory) is certainly larger than a 6.75" (Kicker). While the Kicker did deliver perfectly smooth highs and mid-high ranges that were exactly what I was looking for, the stock Toyota Speaker out-performed the 6.75 in mid-range to mid-low, delivering a much more rich and dynamic fullness that the Kicker couldn't measure up to, even after maxing out the EQ, bass boost etc.. - they definitely started bumping but I feel like they are basically too small to hit those ranges that the 6x9 could hit. Basically, these speakers didn't even respond to some of the lower frequencies that the stock 6x9 were picking up. Also, these speakers have slightly more resistance than the stock speakers, and took 10-20% higher volumes on the head unit to get similar output to the stock 6x9. I wish that the Kicker 6x9 fit the 4runner, as I'm sure that would have been the upgrade I was looking for. The choices are limited, but I'm going to try an aftermarket 6x9 instead and see how that does, I believe Pioneer and Sony make a few that fit. I listen to metal, rock, alt, BPM.

Pros: Smooth Highs & Mid-Highs

Cons: Lacks response in the lower frequencies, best supplemented with other (larger) speakers to do the mid-low work. These shouldn't be the work-horse of the system.

Very Nice Speakers

Written By Matty777, Seattle, WA on Monday, June 09, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got the 6.75" and 5.25" speakers for the front and rear doors, respectively, of my 2006 Toyota 4Runner. The fronts were previously aftermarket Pioneers 6.5"s that I put in maybe 6 months ago, the rears were previously stock. I wasn't all that thrilled by the Pioneers I had put in around Christmas time, so ordered the Kickers at the urging of a co-worker. I can say that I'm extremely pleased with the upgrade; these Kickers have an all-around better sound than the Pioneers. Low-end is adequate, and they sound powerful and clear when driven moderately hard by my aftermarket Sony HU 22W/channel RMS, I believe). I can only imagine how good they'd sound with a nice 4-channel amp installed. Unfortunately, I've blown my car audio upgrade for now between these speakers and 12" Fosgate powered sub. Maybe for Christmas? End of the day, I would definitely recommend these speakers as an above-average factory upgrade.

Pros: - Good sound, even when driven moderately by a mid-power HU. - Construction feels good; noticeably more weighty than the aftermarket Pioneers they replaced. - Decent amount of bass for a 6.75" (as long as you get them sealed in your door nice and snug).

Cons: - I should mention that, due to the geometry of the speaker frame, I had to modify the supplied adapter bracket with a sawz-all to get the speaker frame to fit in there. Not a deal killer for me, but if I hadn't had a tool to do the job I would have been pretty annoyed. This added maybe 5 minutes to the process.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace original speakers in my 17 year old son's "02 Toyota Tundra. They were easy to replace and fit perfect. The reviews from the Crutchfield website and the support person from the Crutchfield website maybe this an easy and stress free process for a single mom not really knowing what she was doing. THANKS!

Excellent Value

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great product at a great price. Installed these in my '11 GMC Sierra to replace the junk factory speakers. They are a huge upgrade. Now I just need to upgrade the Head Unit to get their full value.

Pros: Great brand, good sound, and Crutchfield is awesome.

Cons: None

Solid upgrade and easy install for the price!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

2003 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab; 6-speaker with OnStar. Looking for inexpensive/ease of fit upgrade to replace completely shot factory speakers (kept factory head unit). Recommended by Crutchfield advisor. Arrived on doorstep 2 days later!=) ~30 min/pair to install using factory adapters (very snug, but good fit) & Crutchfield plug-n-play harness. Certainly not home theater sound, but for someone who's always got the windows down, they rock! Bass is a tad hollow and drops off a bit at higher volumes. Left the separate factory tweeters hooked up for now, but may unhook after a while to see the difference, but overall very happy with the sound quality for the price!

Pros: Sound quality for the price. Ease of install (had to bend upper and lower tabs of front door sheet metal about 1/8" with flat blade screwdriver, otherwise would have had to mount differently/drill holes).

Cons: Not a super high sound quality, but better than others in this price range.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these along with a set of 6x9 kickers to match for my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. All around i would say the speakers sound great! Alot better than the stock Infinity Gold Speakers but coming from Kicker i am a little dissapointed in the bass quality. Could be the size but the bass isnt very crisp and more of a loud buzz. However coupled with the 6x9's and new dash tweeters they do sound good as long as you play with your settings, just cant max out your bass.

Pros: Easy install Great overall sound

Cons: Bass quality not impressive

Cons: Sounds as if the speakers were covered in garbage bags. This review would not allow me to enter zero stars.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speaker. Install was very easy. Speakers went right in my door. The speakers sounds great! The bass is Okay, I'm running a sub as well, so the bass on the door speakers doesn't matter much, these are very clear even at loud volumes, good little speaker. Would definitely recommend.

Pros: Good sound. Easy installation. Loud.

Cons: Bass is Okay.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm pleasantly surprised by the sound and quality of these low priced speakers. They are a noticeable improvement over my factory 2-way speakers. The clarity is much better, the overall sound is better, from low, to high volumes and everything in between. The bass is not as good as I expected from reading the reviews, but they do alright in that department. The tweeters are good, not too harsh. Mids are good. Overall, I'm quite pleased. I really want to add an amp, I'm certain more power will really bring these things to life.

Pros: Great speaker for a low price. Good looking too. For dollar spent, you can't go wrong.

Cons: The speaker terminals are a bit tricky to get connected, had to tweak them slightly with a pliers. Not much of a complaint!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I truly enjoy the sound quality of the speakers and the easy install. It has made the new reciever that I purchased, sound's so much better than the factory equipment. Every product that I have ever purchased from Crutchfield has been the best. I just wish that a rear deck spearkers that Kicker makes would fit. I have an odd size mount in the rear deck on my model of car. All in all its a great sounding set of speakers as is the price. I am on fixed income and I recieved true quality from the amount that I spent. The technician that I talked with was very helpful and friendly. I will always shop at Crutchfield for the quaility products that I want. Thank You Crutchfield!

Pros: Very easy to install, great sound and the price was fantastic. I recieved a lot more than what I paid for.

Cons: I have none to speak or can think of any.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sound is clear at lower volumes and at higher volumes is not bad but definitely need a sub with these puppies if you want base. Good for acoustic songs and other non-bass intensive type music. As others stated, the connectors on the speaker felt as if it was going to snap when attaching wire leads.

Pros: Price. Decent performance(for the price). Crutchfield service is unrivaled.

Cons: Weak connectors. Lows are weak.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound great. I replaced the original speakers (completely busted) in my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The entire job took me about an hour to replace 2 front and 2 rear door speakers. The hardest part was drilling 12 new holes for the speakers, but overall was pretty easy even for a noob.

Pros: - Easy Install -Cheap -Good Sound -Okay Bass

Cons: -For the price no real cons

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had kicker subs before and already had a pretty high opinion of the brand. These speakers did not disappoint. Very full sound. With no sub they reproduce a wide range of sound and are good stand alone factory replacements.

Pros: Perfect fit.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for my wife's 2014 Malibu, rear doors. While they sound very good, overall better than the factory speakers, a little disappointed in the low end. Maybe I was expecting too much but all the previous reviews stated very good bass output. Because of this, I'm having 2nd thoughts about a 2nd pair for the front doors.

Pros: Good overall sound, reasonable price.

Cons: Screws which came with speakers did not fit mounting adapter, so had to dig through all my hardware to find some. Not as good bass as I expected

Sounds good

Great Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound great. I have them in the back doors of my 2002 Tahoe. They are clear and have great highs and mids. The bass is respectable for the speaker size. I am currently running a Kenwood deck, with these speakers in the rear doors and another set of kickers that are components in the front doors. Nice sound but will be better when I add a 5 channel amp and a sub. These replaced the factory speakers and there is no comparison. They rock.

Pros: Sound great now. Can take even more power. Will sound amazing after amp is added.

Cons: At the very top end of the volume the bass can get a little distorted, but only at 27-30 on the volume. I rarely have it that loud.
