Bring on the treble and the bass

Kicker's 40CSS674 component speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The separate 3/4" titanium dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. The outboard crossover network allows you to pick from three different tweeter level settings so you'll get balanced sound wherever you're sitting. Grilles are included.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker CS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Ribbed Polyester Foam Surrounds: The ribbed polyester foam surrounds allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters come with brackets to allow multiple mounting configurations: flush-mounted, angled flush-mounted (approximately 10°), and angled surface-mounted (approximately 15°).

Tweeter Dimensions:

Flush Mount Angled Flush Mount Angled Surface Mount

The crossovers' input and output wires are attached; the woofer output has quick slide terminals that connect directly to the woofer and the tweeter output has bullet terminals that mate to the terminals on the tweeter wires. The crossovers' dimensions are:

  • Length: 4.595"

Q
I have a 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4 door, Stock head unit, no Amp. If I put these in the front, what should I put in the rear doors? 2 or 3 way, Subs or another set of these?

If you put these at front, rear doors should have 2 way speakers. In my case i hv these front, kicker two way on rear and the 12" subwoofer at back(trunk)

I put two way in the rear with two 10" Rockford fosgate subs under rear seat. I do have a amp powering the speakers and sub. This is in a 2015 Tundra double cab.
james  Aug 18, 2017
A
I put the 2 ways in the back and they sound just as good.

Q
Do I need an amp to run this set?
jesse  Oct 26, 2016

A
NO,we did not install an amp. There's 3 settings on the crossover we started on the highest and found it was too much treble. Ultimately we settled on the lowest setting. The speakers certainly could handle more power, but we didn't want to get that involved or spend more money on an auxiliary amp.

I was persuaded to purchase an amp because the sound would be much better and alive. It is true....big difference with the amp
martin  Oct 27, 2016
A
No you don't need to run an amp but it would sound better if you did.

Q
Am I over powering these components ? The tweeters keep kicking out , I installed 2 sets and both fronts and backs are doing it. I got a RF P600x4 powering them. Gains are setup with the clean install cd so no clipping.

Tweets require little power too be loud.... I ran my tweets straight to the head unit... Speakers to amp... Not sure if this is right but it sounds fine.... but I never have ran tweets to amp.... I am running two sets in a Hummer...

Where does the tweeter mount for a motorcycle application?
john  Aug 25, 2015

A
next to the Flux capacity. Duh.
harlan  Aug 31, 2015

The tweeter mounts inside the end of the exhaust. This is the ideal location because it seconds as a baffle for the exhaust. The reduction of exhaust noise with the added accoustics of having it mounted inside of a metal tube will create the ultimate listening experience. The only other logical solution is to Velcro the tweeter to your forehead. Doing so will ensure the sound is directed Forward and then you will drive into the sound.

Q
How do these compare to Polk DXi6500s? I have the polks installed now but they have no low end whatsoever. They're connected to a PA600 amp so there's plenty of juice for them. No room in a Miata for a sub so I'm looking for components that can hit a little better.

My 2000 blazer was night and day but I they were 12 year old speakers I like the mids and highs the kicker components give and with the right songs my mirrors shake without a sub

Also depends a lot on your amp. I have 7 these speakers need a good amp to really go
michael  Dec 26, 2013

If you have a good spot for your tweeters (upper dash) these will blow up factory system away. But again look at you frequency range. These won't go as low as your factory speakers. They're louder, cleaner, and plays better mid bass. To really complete your system. Run a set of these and a sub. Or in my case 2 sets of these and two l7
