It's time for an upgrade

Upgrading the old factory speakers in your car will give you a huge bump in sound quality, and Kicker designed CS Series speakers to get your sound system rockin' without breaking the bank. You'll enjoy your music even more when you hear all the details that your muddy-sounding factory speakers couldn't begin to reproduce.

Bring on the treble and the bass

Kicker's 40CSS674 component speaker set provides low-end from a tough 6-3/4" polypropylene woofer, with a polyester foam surround that will stay strong for years to come. The separate 3/4" titanium dome tweeter takes care of the vocal and instrumental details that'll really bring your music to life. The outboard crossover network allows you to pick from three different tweeter level settings so you'll get balanced sound wherever you're sitting. Grilles are included.

Installation note: You'll need a pair of our universal backstraps to install the tweeters in the factory locations.

Product Highlights:

  • component speaker system includes 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers
  • 6-3/4" polypropylene woofers with polyester foam surrounds
  • 3/4" titanium dome tweeters
  • external crossover network with 3 tweeter levels (0, +3, +6 dB)
  • power range: 2-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 35-21,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 90 dB
  • top-mount depth: 1-7/8"
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

Kicker 40CSS674 6-3/4" Comp. Speakers excellent upgrade for the price

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for my 2003 Isuzu Ascender because my factory front door speakers were going bad on me, one day I was hearing my left speaker and the other day I was not. So I did a little research and decided to buy a pair of Kicker 40CSS674 6-3/4" component speakers from Crutchfield. Once I installed them, man it made a big difference. Deeper bass and crispier sound tweeters, don't get me wrong mines sounded pretty decent when they were new, but after installing these. The sound quality outranked my factory speakers by far. I had installed a DIN JVC KW-NSX1 DVD Receiver from Crutchfield at an excellent price back in May 2013 which is still working like new and like I previously mentioned above, once I installed the kickers component speakers the sound quality improved drastically. I would recommend them to your Trailblazer, Envoy or Isuzu Ascender. My next step would be to install an amp with an sub-woofer for a richer bass.

Pros: These Kickers 40CSS674 6-3/4" component speakers improved the sound quality of my SUV. These are an excelente up-grades at a pretty decent price, yes you may pay a little more, but the quality however on these are excellent and they are very well built.

Cons: You will need to make a mild modification on your factory speaker brackets to fit these in, this modification does not affect the bracket's structural integrity. For me it was a breeze, but again I like to do a lot of things on my own, that's how I am a handy guy. I took about 90 minutes to do the modifications and installing them into my SUV. You may need to have a little basic knowledge on using a router tool, but if you have friend who does better. You will enjoy the sound of these speaker

Awesome Speakers! Can't beat them for the price

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I picked up a set of these for the rear doors in my Grand Cherokee WJ. They fit without modification to the doors or the speakers! The mounting depth does not interfere with the window inside the door either! I went with component speakers to match the front and for the improved sound compared to the factory coaxial speakers. The tweeters had nice covers that protect them well. I cut holes in my doors under the inside handles for the tweeters (though this is not required) I like the look and sound of this mounting configuration. These combined with some Kicker 6x9 component speakers up front has transformed the vehicles sound. The base is much better, as is the rest of the spectrum. Love these speakers!

Pros: Good fitment and exceptional sound!

Cons: Mounting the tweeters when converting a coaxial speaker to component does involve some modification for my vehicle, but I didn't mind. Totally worth it in the end, and I knew this was required prior to buying. You can't beat the sound from component speakers

Speakers went in without many mods. The sound of these speakers is sort of muddy, but I have yet to hear a great truck stereo without major modifications. Decent for the money.

Pros: Easy install

Cons: Muddy sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These components were installed in place of factory speakers on a 2002 Volvo V70. These speakers perform better than I expected for the price range. The woofer has plenty of punch for its size and construction. The tweeter design is great for those of you who like to drive with windows down or have a poorly dampened cabin. I would highly recommend amplifying these.

Pros: Great construction, pre-tinned stripped speaker wires for easy soldering, and multiple mounting options.

Cons: All of my issues arose due to Volvo's design of the speaker mounts.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sound much better than the factory speakers they replaced. I was able to use a hole saw to remove the center of the factory tweeter and install the Kicker tweeter in the same location. Wasn't comfortable installing the crossover in the door so I mounted them inside the cab. Speakers came with plenty of wire to permit the relocation.

Pros: Easy installation, great price, sound much better than the factory speakers.

Cons: Haven't notice any.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I like clean sound and have no intention of installing aftermarket amplifier to go with my aftermarket stereo. Purchased these speakers for the front and equivalent for the rear - overall sound is definitely more clear at highs, better low range, and a crisper than my factory Toyota speakers.

Pros: Good price, nice quality, definitely a good buy/value for those not using a amplifier

Cons: The crossover box was a bit of annoyance to mount in my door as it took my some time figuring out a suitable location that would not interfere with the window and lock mechanisms.

Trusted brand. Good Product.

Massive upgrade from factory speakers. I have replaced factory speakers in the past but the change wasn't ever this drastic. I have to 12" kenwood subs running through a 300 watt kenwood amp and these speakers are the first to not get covered up by the overbearing base. I'm happy with the money I spent

Pros: handles highs and mids like a champ

Cons: tweeters are extremely crisp, possibly too much for someone who doesn't have subs/lots of road noise

1998 Chevrolet Tahoe
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers replaced a pair of blown factory speakers that came with my used 1998 Chevy Tahoe that I am rebuilding. I chose to use these speakers with the separate tweeters because they were just like what was in the doors originally. Though the tweeters didn't fit the original mounting brackets I still managed to fit them into the same location and the sound from this set is fanominal to say the lease. I couldn't have asked for better even with my old JVC deck. I can only imagine the sound once I install the new Kenwood deck with the Kicker 10 bass and amp in the rear.

Pros: Easy to install, fit existing opening in doors, plenty of cabling to mount the tweeters just about anywhere on the door. Sounds is terrific. What more can you ask for?

Cons: None to date

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these for my front doors on my 2013 Chevy Silverado. My Chevy had the bone stock speakers no BOSE, so I started looking online. Crutchfield had the best prices hands down. The shipping was incredibly fast too. I would never look anywhere else to buy audio products due to their amazing customer service department.

Keep it up, and keep it loud.

Pros: Crystal clear audio, a lot louder than stock, best sounding speaker I have ever bought

Cons: A little pricey, but not too bad compared to most component speakers.

This is my first experience with kicker speakers. I am a die hard polk fan, but I wanted to try something different. I have a yukon xl denali so the interior space is massive! I am running polk components up front and kicker in the rear. The kicker system is extremely bright. The woofers do an adequate job, but the tweeters are extremely bright. It is all about the sound you are looking for however. The quality is absolutely great! Personally I will be installing polk in the rear as well .

Pros: Pre-wired crossover Plug and play Great price

Cons: Tweeters are extremely bright ; cranking the music up seems to pierce the ears.

Very happy with these speakers. I have had kicker speakers before and I again am quite happy. They have very good highs and mids. Bass is okay. But I am definitely going to buy a subwoofer. I have a clarion cz702 head unit. These speakers definitely need an amplifier though.

Pros: Great highs and mids

Cons: Under powered but that's my fault

I was looking for speakers to replace my factory 6 3/4 door speakers that would also complement my amp. I was unsure at first as to whether to go with a component setup but after speaking to a Crutchfield advisor and other friends I decided to go with the Kicker 40CSS674. Once I got them installed and connected I must say these were great speakers with quite a bit of power the the highs sound great! I am thoroughly pleased with their performance so far and I definitely recommend these to anyone looking for a moderately priced pair of component speakers.

Sound great at low speeds and low volume. Can hear them and still sound great. They are in a convertible so all the low end response goes literally out the 'windows'. Looking to get a small sub to full the void.

Pros: Quality sound for the cost.

Cons: Lack of instruction for the multi use component 'tweeter' mounts. I felt I had to guess.

Watch the tweeters

Written by: Jared from Central, PA on August 13, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound amazing. As is to be expected. The only REAL issue is the box that comes to adjust the tweeters. The idea is great, however, it is a challenge to find a good place to put them where they can still be adjusted, but out of the way. I ended up just having to play with it for a while, and then keep it in the door. To adjust it now I have to take the whole door panel off. But, other than that, the speakers are great.

Pros: Sound Quality

Cons: Space options

The tweeter mounts inside the end of the exhaust. This is the ideal location because it seconds as a baffle for the exhaust. The reduction of exhaust noise with the added accoustics of having it mounted inside of a metal tube will create the ultimate listening experience. The only other logical solution is to Velcro the tweeter to your forehead. Doing so will ensure the sound is directed Forward and then you will drive into the sound. [ BLACKFLY  Aug 25, 2015 ]
