Overbuilt? More like built just right

Kicker's 40CWR124 12” subwoofer comes equipped with a tough, polypropylene cone that stays rigid during intense play sessions so you hear accurate bass. A custom-designed back and top plate give the woofer plenty of room to travel, while the durable rubber surround helps to control cone movement during a heavy workout. This sub uses extensive venting in its heavy steel basket to shrug off heat, so you can count on reliable performance.

Say hello to system flexibility

This Kicker CompR will handle up to 500 watts RMS so make sure you have an amplifier that'll do it justice. Its dual 4-ohm voice coils make it easy to connect to a mono amplifier, and this versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures.

Product Research

Features

Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4-ohm voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. A switch on the speaker terminal allows you to easily change from parallel (the woofer presents a 2-ohm load) to series (the woofer presents an 8-ohm load) wiring for the voice coils.

UniPlate Construction: The woofer features a one-piece UniPlate construction with a vented, extended pole piece and backplate. This unique design provides the following benefits:

  • Optimizes heat transfer efficiency for cooler operation
  • Eliminates erratic magnetic flux in the voice coil gap
  • Releases pressure under the suspension for uniform cone movement
  • Prevents the voice coil from bottoming out, and the resulting damage

Tinsel Leads: CompR subwoofers use Spiralead tinsel-lead technology; the tinsel lead wires are woven into the spider to relieve mechanical stress.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Enclosure Applications: Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music. Kicker recommends sealed enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.0 ft³
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 4.6 ft³

Vented Box: Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. Kicker recommends ported enclosures in the following range:

  • Minimum Enclosure Volume: 1.75 ft³ with a 12.5" x 2.5" x 20" slot port
  • Maximum Enclosure Volume: 2.25 ft³ with a 12.5" x 3" x 20.5" slot port

Each sub is connected individually to the amp with a rca plug in. One is plugged in to left channel and one to right channel plug.

Yes back to the amp with what ever gauge wire you are using I had a larger size amp and the subs could handle 0 gauge wire 5000rms

There are plenty of ways to attach the second sub from the sub to the box best way is to have a mono block amp with one terminal and have a sub box with two terminals on them, hook the second sub same way to your sub terminal as you have with the first sub, then from the amp the the sub do a series hook up so go from positive terminal to the positive sub and negative to the second sub and then run a 8 gauge wire from the negative sub terminal to the positive terminal, you can also do this with the sub inside the sub box as well to make your sub coil drop form a 4 coil to a two coil if u need any more help go on Google

Q
I have a kicker 1200w amp a 12cx6001 and a 12" 800w kicker sub with a 1 or 4 ohms what do I set my ohms to on the sub 1 or 4 ?

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: It all depends on which Kicker subwoofer it is and if you're putting a 4 ohm load on the amp by how you wire the subwoofer. This amp actually is putting out 600 watts RMS at 2 ohms so if the subwoofer is wired in such a way that you put the 2 ohm resistance on it you can set it to 1 or 2. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.
