The heavy steel basket cuts down on unwanted vibrations.

Kicker technology at work

Kicker's 40CWS84 8" subwoofer features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone for hard-hitting lows without distortion, while the ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and helps to keep the cone on target. The sub's steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Easy to add to nearly any setup

This sub handles up to 200 watts RMS to bring out the depth your music's been missing, and its 4-ohm impedance makes it compatible with just about every amplifier on the market. This versatile sub works well in sealed or ported enclosures, and it's even suitable for free-air applications.

Subwoofer Features
Enclosure Compatibility

Subwoofer Features

Ribbed Surround: The optimized ribbed polyurethane helps eliminate flex and distortion.

Spiralead Tinsel Leads: The durable Spiralead tinsel leads are woven into the woofer's spider, for added strength and reliability.

Steel Basket with Vented Pole Piece: The steel basket's vented pole piece and Kicker's Quad Venting slots contribute to the woofers' efficient cooling and durability.

Speaker Terminals: Each speaker terminal has two 0.25" push-on terminals (crimp-on quick slides included).

Enclosure Compatibility

Enclosure Versatility: The Kicker Comp subwoofer is versatile, performing well in vented or sealed enclosures, and in free-air applications.

Sealed Enclosures: A sealed enclosure design offers the smoothest response, with increased energy at the lowest frequencies (between 20 to 30 Hz).

  • Minimum enclosure volume: 0.5 ft³
  • Maximum enclosure volume: 1.2 ft³

Ported Enclosures: A ported (vented) enclosure design is typically more efficient than a sealed enclosure.

  • Minimum enclosure volume: 0.66 ft³ with a 1.5" x 8" slot port opening that is 18" deep
  • Maximum enclosure volume: 1.2 ft³ with a 1.5" x 8" slot port opening that is 12.25" deep

Infinite Baffle Mounting: The Kicker Comp subwoofers are also designed to be used as free-air drivers. The infinite baffle mounting method effectively utilizes the trunk of a sedan as the enclosure.

Q
Hello, Im looking for deep bass like the pioneer but I kind of want to rattle my car a little...the shallow mount pioneer 8" looks ok but its only 150rms/600peak with free air...will 150rms be enough to rattle my windows with the pioneer? Or do I need to get a higher rms like the Kicker or JL Audio??..I'm trying to replace my factory speaker in my jeep patriot with a free air sub...please help

No, it won't. Just pretty much for the low end but not for bass rattling effect that you want to get.

I bought it to replace cheap speaker in a nitro bottle sub. Sounds good on a 250 watt amp. Hope this helps but you can't go wrong with kicker.

As long as the power your putting through to this speaker is clean, (aka- a decent amp) it will provide good bass. I don't think it will do much rattling since it is free air, and only an 8", My suggestion is find a good ported box that holds 2 10"s and run jl audio. won't go wrong with that set up, just have a decent amp. I got this speaker to replace a factory one that had gone south. It's ok, and I'm only running power through it with the deck's amp.

Unfortunately, I was not able to install this speaker. I was misinformed by the crutchfield saleman who told me it would mount in the back deck of my MB E300. It did not.
