A match made in heaven...or Oklahoma

Kicker's 40DCWR122 loaded enclosure puts a pair of thumping 12" CompR subs behind your music. The rugged ported box was designed specifically for the subs, so you can count on getting maximum performance, no matter what kind of tunes you enjoy.

The specially designed port gives you more bass without sounding sloppy.

Two hard-hitting CompR subs

Each 12” CompR subwoofer features a tough, polypropylene cone that stays rigid during intense play sessions so you hear accurate bass. A custom-designed back and top plate give the woofers plenty of room to travel, while the durable rubber surround helps to control cone movement during a heavy workout. These subs use extensive venting in their heavy steel baskets to shrug off heat, so you can count on reliable performance.

Heavy-duty enclosure

Sturdy medium-density fiberboard ensures long-lasting performance from the enclosure, and the special-design side port enhances bass production without getting sloppy. The enclosure's 2-ohm impedance draws maximum power from your mono amplifier. This Kicker will handle up to 1000 watts RMS, so make sure you pick an amp that'll make those CompR subs happy.

This was for my son and now I'm jealous! Very easy to install. A little heavy but fit perfect in his 2005 Nissan Altima.

Been looking at these for a minute. Previously had a pair of Rockford Fosgate p3 12 inch subs in a spec ported box powered by an alpine pdr-65 mono sub amp (650 watts rms into 2 ohms). Sold the Rockfords and purchased the Kicker 40dcwr122. Man! I'm really surprised at how loud this set up is right out of the box! Turned down my amp to break them in. Running about 500 watts rms right now and this box still cranks! I can tell that it's gonna be way louder than the p3s just by the fact it's just about as loud right now with less power and not broken in! Btw I paid almost twice as much for the p3s and the box. These Kickers were half as much! Definitely look at buying these! You won't be disappointed I can promise you that!

Pros: Crazy low price! Good power handling! Extremely efficient at 98db 1 watt / 1 meter! Good bass with good SQ!

Cons: None Yet!

I purchased from scratch and dent. Thought I was getting a great deal. Had them installed and the sounded defective. Called tech support and was told to ground to chassis, so I had that done to no avail. Got an email from customer service telling me that they recommend cx1200.1 amp. I also had 2 1380 amp batteries installed and 1/0 pure copper wire run to power block in the rear and the 30 farad capacitor. I spent close to a thousand dollars and they are crap. By the time all this was done the return window had closed. In conclusion I am very disappointed in this purchase and product and can't recommend buying any scratch and dent item. To top it all the price dropped

Pros: None

Cons: Defective

I just picked this set of 12"s up in the Kicker box with a Kicker CX1200.1 and love the setup. Sounds and looks great in my Expedition. I've yet to really turn it up but it's nice to know I haven't hit their ceiling yet. I didn't want something where at its peak I wanted more, and with these I don't see that ever happening.

Pros: Price, design, value

Cons: None yet

I was at a local retailer a few weeks ago and saw this sitting on the shelf, it was very visually appealing to me. It was only hooked up to a little 300 watt kicker amp so i really wasnt expecting much. So i turned it on and turned the volume up to about 10-12 and it started pounding much harder then i expected. I turned it up to 16 and it was rattling everything around and the boom could be heard outside, that sold me right there considering i was planning on putting a 750.1 on them i could only imagine the power it would produce.

Pros: Everything

Cons: didn't find it sooner

Why did you buy this?

Cause it's pretty [ Cristine  Jan 10, 2016 ]

The 650 watts RMS from your Alpine amp is enough to power this enclosure very well but not enough to realize its full potential (1000 watts RMS). I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5 [ Ryan  Feb 27, 2016 ]  Staff
That depends greatly on the other speakers in your system and how low they are rated/crossed over to play. Ideally, you'll set the low pass for the subwoofers at or around the frequency you've set to high-pass your full-range speakers. I hope that helps! I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Your Boss amp is a good match to this speaker. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Mar 27, 2015 ]  Staff
I have a amp pushing at 700 rms and these things hit hard so your 1700 rms should be fine they won't over power the subs if you keep the amp turned down a little [ BLAKE  Feb 23, 2015 ]

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Krissy  Feb 24, 2014 ]  Staff
The 40DCWR122 has a single wiring terminal out for wiring at 2-ohms. Since that's what the 12CX1200.1 operates at you'll go from negative on the subwoofer input to negative of the amplifier output and do the same for the positive. You should be all set from there! [ Krissy  Feb 25, 2014 ]  Staff
A good rule of thumb for speakers is to get an amplifier that is up to twice the RMS of the speakers at the proper ohms. That amp will work perfect. It is better to over power speakers then under power them, that when speaker damage will occur. [ Matthew  Jan 28, 2014 ]
Ideally you don't want to push more than 1,600 watts RMS to these subs. If your amp is pushing out more than that, you can always set the gain down. However, with an amp that is double the power, you might want to consider an amp that will be a closer match power wise. [ Jeff  Jan 19, 2014 ]  Staff
The sub box has a single set of 2-ohm inputs. This will mean that you need to bridge a 2-channel amp. You will want to make sure your amp is 2-ohm compatible in mono. [ Jeff  Dec 16, 2013 ]  Staff
