Kicker 40TCWRT124 12" sub enclosure

This thin enclosure can fit behind seats or in areas where space is tight.

Big bass from a CompRT sub

The 12" CompRT sub features a rigid injection-molded polypropylene cone that won't flex and cause distortion while you're cranking the bass. Its rubber surround will last through years of heavy use, combining with a special-design back and top plate to give you more excursion (which equals more bass) than other skinny subs.

Heavy-duty enclosure

Sturdy medium-density fiberboard ensures long-lasting performance from the enclosure, and its sealed design keeps the bass punchy and accurate, without getting sloppy. The enclosure's 4-ohm impedance allows compatibility with a wide range of amplifiers.

I've got this hooked to a bridged 2 channel 800w and this thing is great with it, if you know anything about audio in cars you know all those rms numbers and peak are bs, 800 w amp cranks this thing just fine, hits good, looks great

wow! that about all I have to say. I installed this into my 89 Toyota pickup single cab behind the bench seat. fit like a charm, and it sounds great! I am using the Pioneer GM-D8604 paired with 2 chanles running Polk Audio DXi691 and the other 2 channels bridged to power this sub. so the sub is getting about half of its power and it rattles everything in my truck, I only have my gain set at 1/4 of max. I shopped around for a very long time and finally decided to go for this on eand I couldn't be happier!!

Pros: Great sound! fit behind my 89 Toyota pickup bench seat!

Cons: the paint on subwoofer is already starting to peal off. probably ecause it hits the back of my seat just a little not the subs fault

This sub is perfect for amps up to about 400 watts RMS. I know it is rated for 800W RMS, but it cannot handle the load. Thinking it was a defective sub I replaced it with the same model only to realize this model can't handle that amount of power. I've owned several Kicker subs throughout the years and have enjoyed their original Comps and Solo-Barics which have taken a beating and kept on performing. Sadly these models are not the same. I am aware they are shallow mount and will not hit as hard as their other 12" models, but the trade-off to save space is not worth it unless you are looking for low to decent levels of bass. I ended up replacing it with a 10" L7 Solo-baric and couldn't be happier. I hope it lasts 10+ years like my old school Solo-Baric did!

Pros: Small, takes up little space Best for amps up to 400W RMS Great for the lower end midbass applications

Cons: Cannot handle 800W RMS Cannot reproduce good bass below 40Hz

It Fits!

I've looked for a long time for a good subwoofer that would fit in my 1994 GMC Sierra regular-cab pickup. Most subs I've tried are too big to fit behind the seat or too small to deliver good base. This subwoofer will fit in my truck with no modifications (though in my case I shortened the behind-seat storage bin to make a seamless installation). I still have full range of motion in the seat. I'm powering it with a mere 125 (when bridged) watt rms Kicker amp. Though it's not a window-blower, it is a real cab-thumper. The sealed enclosure gives tight accurate bass without distortion and even using a relatively low-power amp it really can boom! I've had a number of people look at my truck while stopped at an intersection or light and can't figure how I'm getting such strong bass without 2 12" subs in a ported enclosure with a huge amp. Remarkable value, great bass with virtually no distortion. A winner in my book!

Pros: Value, ease of installation, clear accurate bass, low power requirement, and great boom

Cons: The speaker looks a little odd with it's solid speaker cone and it could offer a little protection for the speaker (maybe a low-profile grill

Features

Speaker Terminals: The spring post terminals are mounted on the left side of the enclosure and will accept pin connectors, single or dual (standard 3/4" width) banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

Woofers: The Kicker 40TCWRT124 enclosure uses one 12" CompRT subwoofer, wired to present a 4Ω load.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker CompRT speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The suspension system is very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately two weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

out of the box the 2 ohm dvc speakers wired in series are 4 ohms. If wired in parallel it should be 1 ohm. [ Diane  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Yes. That's what I did. Hits hard for truck wedge style box so shallow too. Kicker is the best.... Highly recommend that setup. [ Clayton  Feb 25, 2016 ]
