It's a tough job but somebody's got to do it. Kicker builds the CompVR round subwoofers to endure the the harsh demands of producing big bass. Each sub houses an injected-molded polypropylene cone and Santoprene™ rubber surround in a high-strength steel basket with plenty of interior venting. Kicker's SoloKon™ cone design looks fantastic while it protects against flexing that can wreck your sub and your sound.

The 07CVR102 10" sub boasts dual 2-ohm voice coils that can manage a heavy power onslaught, while adding more options for wiring up your system. UniPlate construction molds parts of the sub's motor structure together as a single unit to optimize heat transfer, improve accuracy, and extend cone excursion.

Kicker CompVR subs can be used for marine applications, so make some waves with these stellar subwoofers.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation.

What's a component sub and why would I want one?

A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.

All I need to say is KICKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was one of the last people to be able to get these subs before they were discontinued, and boy am I happy that I ordered them just in time. I got the buy one, get one free special that crutchfield was running and don't think that these subs were not to par since they were available for such a good deal because these subs hit hard. I'm powering them up with a Kenwood KAC-9104D amplifier with a 2 ohm load and these subs and amp ae a good combination. I haven't even turned the amp up yet and my trunk is rattlng and my rear view mirror is jumping up and down. Not to mention the several advisors that I had spoken trying to make up my mind were very helpful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would definately recomend these subs if you can get your hands on them!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

To be honest I was a lil hesitant about getting these speakers just from seeing a couple of bad reviews..... I can honestly say, buy a set for yourself and see the difference Kicker makes.... I put two 10 inch CVRs in my 07 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab with a 1800 watt Kenwood pushing em, and boy was I surprised.... The secret to these speakers is to have an amp that's gonna give them a lil more power than required and not to blast them when you first install them.... Yeah, because they hit so hard, you're gonna want to show off but, save money by not blasting them.... Give them at least a week before you try to compete

I was originally looking at JL Audio because that's what I previously owned (12", unsure what model), and I always had this idea that Kickers were cheap and just good for being loud. I was convinced to buy one, and it was a lot cheaper than the JL. So I bought it. It sounded AMAZING. So much better than the old JL I had. I could get so much lower than the JL and didn't get nearly as distorted at loud volumes as the JL did. I will never buy anything bigger than a 10" from now one, because this thing really hits hard. I actually kinda wish I had bought the 8" because I think that one would have still had more than enough. It may not be the absolute best, but for the price it kills the competition.

Super Bass

Hard hitting

These subs are awesome. Dispote what everyone says, I hooked these up to a mono MA audio amp, they rattled my truck for a year and then my 3000gt for a half year and they're still going, excellent sound and very crisp

They pound BUT......

Written By Rampage4805, Tucson AZ on Monday, January 26, 2009

These subs sound great, I have a JL audio 500w mono block amp. The only problem is they do not last I have had two of them blown in less than a year and a half. They are good if you get them with a two year warrenty and plane on them blowing. However, if you cant get them with a warrenty dont get them.

the good and the bad

Written By the_ocho, Shakopee MN on Friday, December 26, 2008

I have two of these in a sealed box. wired for a 2 ohm load at the amp. powered by a Hifonics amp giving them 900w rms. sounded great. these really are great subs.

the bad. i blew one of the voice coils on one of the subs.. but eh what can you do. even with one sub running with 450 rms to it, its pounds like crazy. im not even gonna bother putting the other sub back in my 4runner. one is enough.

I bought the Kicker 10"Sub to replace my Sony 10" Sub. I am going to now find it hard to hear a Sub without DISTORTION! All along I thought the distortion was suppose to be there. FYI, the shipping from Crutchfield was FIRST RATE. Arrived exactly on the day they told me it would. Installation was a snap, except I wired it wrong. I knew this becasuse the LED on my Subwoofer amp was pulsatiing to the, as they say, THE DISCO BEAT!

Stopped had dinner and tried it again. I have found in the past, when one becomes desperate, despite your better judgment, you read the instructions! It is nothing short of amazing what they put in those books.

The absolute BEST sub I have ever used in my GOLF CART! NO JOKE. It has three amps, Niles outdoor speaker systems, in dash CD/DVD/w motorized screen, additional screen hanging from roof mount console, and a in dash AM/FM/CD. Plan to replace Jensen DVD, with Kenwood from now my new friends, CRUTCHFIELD.

I bought these subs expecting alot, and recieved more then that. I bought 2 and they are powered by a 1200 watt amp with a pioneer 3900 head unit. the sound is incredible. I have been asked at least 10 times if i have 2 12's below the back seat of my 99 Dodge Ram (quad cab) and the reaction when i tell them they are jus 2 10's is great. i even had 1 person ask me if they were 15's. Thanks crutchfield for the great value

These subs have some serious kick to them. I have 2 10" Kicker Comp VR Subs connected to an Infinity Mono
Sub Amp that powers close to 750 watts. I would highly recommend these subs to anyone. You must have a powerful enough amp to run these subs or it won't sound right because I tested them with an old amp I had in the garage...Rockford Fosgate 300 watt amp. Great Deal for the money!!!

Enclosure Compatibility

Dual Voice Coils: For increased system flexibility, the woofer has two 2 ohm voice coils. When the voice coils are wired in parallel, the woofer presents a 1 ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series, the woofer presents a 4 ohm load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 2 ohm load.

Cone Materials: The cone was developed using Kicker's SoloKon technology. The ultra high performance injection molded polypropylene cone remains rigid and minimizes cone flex, lowering harmonic distortion. Distortion in the cone is further reduced with new back bracing.

Surround: The optimized ribbed Santoprene surround allows extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. The surround is double-stitched to the cone to add a mechanical fastener to the chemical adhesives. This prevents the cone and surround from separating in the harshest conditions.

Enhanced BAM (Basket And Motor) Assembly: The high-strength steel basket features a low-profile open design, and provides a solid foundation for the precision-aligned motor assembly. Perimeter venting in the BAM relieves pressure from under the spider, supports a linear excursion, and helps dissipate heat from the voice coil and motor structure.

UniPlate Construction: The woofer features a one-piece UniPlate construction with a vented hyper-extended pole piece and backplate. This unique design provides the following benefits:

  • Optimizes heat transfer efficiency for cooler operation and maximum power handling ability
  • Eliminates erratic magnetic flux from the voice coil gap
  • Releases pressure under the suspension for uniform cone movement and responsive low bass
  • Prevents the voice coil from bottoming out and corresponding damage

Tinsel Leads: The woofer features sleeved high-power tinsel lead wires to resist breakage and power-robbing resistance losses. The lead wires are terminated with polymer-based strain relieving mechanical fasteners.

Speaker Terminals: The spring loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 8 gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Break-in Period: Due to the complex nature of Kicker Comp VR speakers, they require a break-in period in order to produce optimum low-bass response. The high-performance suspension system makes the speaker very stiff out-of-the-box. Approximately 2 weeks of daily playing will allow the suspension to break-in and reach its optimum equilibrium. A broken-in subwoofer will exhibit stronger bass performance, smoother response, and greater low-bass extension.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Marine Ready: This woofer is made with a powder coated, weather resistant basket and stainless steel hardware, so it can be used in marine and mobile applications.

Enclosure Compatibility

Power Handling: The power handling specifications differ according to the type and size of the enclosure. The power handling specifications assume that both voice coils are in use. Note: Both voice coils in a dual voice coil speaker should always be connected.

Recommended Sealed Box Volume:

  • Compact (minimum enclosure volume): 0.8 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 300 watts RMS (150 watts per voice coil)
  • SQ (maximum enclosure volume): 3 cu/ft; the woofer can handle up to 300 watts RMS (150 watts per voice coil)

Recommended Vented Box Volume:

  • Compact: 1.25 cu/ft; 2" x 10.5" port opening; 20" port depth; the woofer can handle up to 200 watts RMS (100 watts per voice coil)
  • SPL/Deep Bass: 1.75 cu/ft; 2.5" x 10.5" port opening; 20" port depth; the woofer can handle up to 200 watts RMS (100 watts per voice coil)

Note: The power handling specifications listed with the vented enclosure recommendations apply only when a 25Hz, 24dB/octave subsonic filter (sold separately) is used with this woofer. If a subsonic filter is not used, power handling may decrease, excessive port noise can occur, and the life of the woofer may be shortened.
