Our take on the Kicker KS650

If you're into car audio, you've heard how a good set of speakers can transform your system's sound. Kicker KS Series speakers use superior materials and construction to deliver crystal-clear music in your ride.

If you're into car audio, you've heard how a good set of speakers can transform your system's sound. Kicker KS Series speakers use superior materials and construction to deliver crystal-clear music in your ride.

The KS650 6-3/4" speakers use a durable Santoprene™ rubber surround to suspend the polypropylene woofer cone in a rigid basket. You'll hear strong low-frequency performance, so your tunes sound full at any volume.

The polymer 3/4" dome tweeter delivers all the sonic details and dynamics that make music exciting. Replace your worn-out speakers with some KS Series coaxials, and bring the "live music" experience to your car's interior.

Note: Kicker describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Impressive speaker. Great sound quality. Can't beat it for the money.

Sound Great with external Amplification. O.K. otherwise.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fantastic shipping and packaging; was prompt. Install went O.K. Crutchfield says they "fit" with having to drill new screw holes. However, I also found the speaker cut-outs in my '08 PT to be too large. It was necessary to shift the speakers slightly to one side and only put screws in on the lower right corner (room for 2 screws). The speakers completely fill the cut-out and I was able to use some silicone to temporarily hold the seal but there isn't space to screw in 4 all the way around. A better option would have been a plastic spacer to attach the speakers to and then to the doors, similar to what they use when installing the 5 1/4" or the 6 1/2" inch speakers in the larger factory cut-outs. I'm not fond of the way I currently have them installed and will be pursuing other options (tearing apart the factory speaker baskets?) since I am installing Dynamat as well. The speakers sound "good" when played with my 45w x 4 JVC head unit. I wouldn't recommend using them with less power as they actually perform MUCH better when I experimented with an external amplifier that I usually use for my Subwoofer.

bad lows

tee from dallas, tx on 8/23/2010

set this up with bazooka amp from crutchfield here and it rattled as soon as it was turned on. Turn the amp to flat and high it sounds good...but still I was expecting more lows from KICKER brand but not this time. Sending them back regardless of stocking fee..for it while sit and rot only..

Awesome Coaxials

namanc6 from San Antonio, TX on 7/10/2010

I'm running these off of an old alpine head unit. I think maybe 14 or 15 watt rms. I bought these ks680's for my 94 bronco to fit into the mid panel. They bolted on near perfectly. I say near b/c I had to bend the top and bottom lips just a bit to bolt in. no biggie b/v it didn't affect the shape of the speaker. well once installed I was so impressed with the all around range from lows to highs, I replaced the 1 month old infinity 6032si, which I had originally bought for the front doors, with the ks650's. This time I had to drill a couple holes to bolt these in and use some shims, but these things sound GREAT! I was planning on buying a couple subs but I don't think I'll have to for these. They thump hard and scream hard. I absolutely love these speakers. Great buy. I really don't think i could have made a better buy, especially for the price compared to some of the other "higher" end coaxials. Very satisfied and I will be a loyal Kicker buyer.
