Our take on the Kicker KS6930

by Buck Pomerantz
Kicker

Why replace your car's original speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

If you're into car audio, you've heard how a good set of speakers can transform your system's sound. Kicker KS Series speakers use superior materials and construction to deliver crystal-clear music in your ride.

The KS6930 6"x9" speakers use a durable Santoprene™ rubber surround to suspend the strong polypropylene woofer cone in a rigid basket. You'll hear strong low-frequency performance, so your tunes sound full at any volume.

The 1" midrange driver and 3/4" polymer dome tweeter deliver all the sonic details and dynamics that make music exciting. Replace your worn-out speakers with some KS Series coaxials, and bring the "live music" experience to your car's interior.

Kicker KS6930

These 6x9's are loud! and clear. I got a MTX tc6004 with at least 75 watts rms @ 4ohm pushing them and these speakers are rated at 100 watts rms that's what you got to feed them if you want the to play right. you know!

Whoever said these speakers are trash doesn't know what he is talking about. These speakers along with all other kicker speakers need a high amount of watts to power them correctly. I have a alpine 300 watt amp wired to these along with a pair of infinity reference series 6 1/2's and tweeters and they scream in my face and the kickers bass pretty good if the bass eq on the amp is on. Very good speakers do not buy them is you are not ready to but atleast 100-200 watts rms in them and remember its all how you adjust your amp to get maximum performance

Great Sound

Written By Doug, Pittsburgh, PA on Monday, July 26, 2010

I dropped a pair of these in the rear deck of my '77 Cadillac. I do not have an amp, so I'm powering them with an aftermarket head unit (Kenwood KDC-BT838U - 22 watts RMS/50 peak).

At low volumes - They sound OK and I can understand why some people are complaining about a lack of bass. Here is why: 6-100 watts RMS is the power range. Most of the other 6x9 speakers have a 2 watt min power. If you arent pushing at least 6 watts RMS through the KS6930, they will not perform as expected.

Crank up the volume - Its awesome how much sound these put out throughout the full frequency range, all the way down to 30hz. With the huge trunk of my car, these Kickers put out even more bass than I expected.

Recommendation: If you like it loud and low and don't have the cash or space for subs, buy a pair of these Kickers.

NO SOUND

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers did not work right out of the box! I bought them because they were on sale and I have had Kicker speakers in the past. Never again! They are going in the trash can as soon as I can get them out of my car!

91 grand caravan

these speakers have great highs but no low end reponse. got them cause they were on sale and was truly dissapointed in their sound quality. these speakers are also very quiet unless hooked up to an amp. if u want better sound go with the infinity's they r worth every dollar. kicker makes great subs but their mids are just terrible. returned them back to crutchfield for the infinity's. do not buy these if u want any kind of bass.

Kicker ks6930

Written By Dave, Cleveland, OH on Friday, February 20, 2009

Great sound at higher volumes but not much bass. I directly mounted them on my rear deck and they had enough bass to sound like a small sub but caused too much rattling. After putting some foam under it, it lost most of its bass but still retains excellent highs. Hopefully, a dynamat would solve this.

Great for midrange

Written By Robert, Texas on Friday, January 16, 2009
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used as deck speakers in a 2003 Monte Carlo powered by a Profile AP1040. Good sound but
won't handle a great deal of power at low frequency. From about 150 Hz up they will scream, though. Perfect for people who just want a quality set of factory replacements, but I would add a sub for higher volume low end.

Great Speakers!

Written By James, Carlsbad, CA on Wednesday, September 24, 2008
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Full sounding lows and crisp highs make these speakers an exceptionally
great deal. I am running these speakers from a Sony amp and they sound
fantastic! They are very efficient and would probably sound great even
without an amp. Highly Recommended!

Kickin' Kickers

Written By Edgar, Nesconset, NY on Wednesday, September 10, 2008
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If I knew that these speaker had that type of bass I probably wouldn't have purchased subwoofers. These 6x9 kickers are the best i've ever heard without and amp. So imagine the sound you get when hooking up a small 100 watt amp. Beyond EXCELLENT.
