Kicker technology at work

This Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and keeps the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Product Research

Features

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends sealed enclosure volumes from 1 ft³ to 2.4 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.

Ported Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends ported enclosure volumes from 1.25 ft³ to 1.75 ft³. Slot port dimensions are given in the manual for the minimum enclosure volume (10-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 14-1/2") and the maximum enclosure volume (10-1/2" x 1-1/2" x 13-1/4"). Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.

I don't think the specs are right on here kickers website says 150w RMS 300 peek power are yall sure that's correct?

We had a few conflicting power ratings. Upon investigation and digging, we have updated the power specs to match the current rating that Kicker has released instead of the old specs.

I'm not sure about the peak spec's.. But I wish I had bought the JL Audio 10W0v3-4's instead. I had these before and simply wore them out. So, I got the Kicker 43C104's cheaper and they just don't have the punch. They're ok, but I really miss the low end drive of the JL's At 57yr, I'm not really the blasting type, I just like filling my truck with deep Jurassic Park boom. ( I know that really wasn't your question... I have been wanting to share this with someone.)

Can I use this sub as a free air sub?

A
Yes, that is what I was told.
ed  May 16, 2017

You can? In the spec. sheet that comes with the 43c104 sub it gives all the parameters for sealed and free air use. But, in my experience, sealed air is the best way to enclose this sub, all subs really! I always try to find a happy medium between too much internal box space and too little. Enjoy.
