Kicker technology at work

This Comp sub features a flex-resistant polypropylene cone with 360-degree back bracing for hard-hitting lows without distortion. The ribbed foam surround promotes long excursion and keeps the cone on target, while double stitching ensures your investment won't come apart at the seams. A tough steel basket provides a reliable foundation for big bass, and its extensive venting ensures long-lasting performance that won't break down when the bass gets heavy.

Product Research

Features

Speaker Terminals: The spring-loaded, nickel-plated terminals provide solid connections for speaker wire up to 10-gauge. Single banana plugs and pin connectors will also fit.

Rubber Magnet Boot: A black rubber boot covers the outside edge of the magnet structure to improve the cosmetics of the woofer and protect the magnet during installation.

Sealed Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends sealed enclosure volumes from 1.25 ft³ to 3.5 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable for all types of music.

Ported Enclosure Applications: Kicker recommends ported enclosure volumes from 1.75 ft³ to 2.25 ft³. Slot port dimensions are given in the manual for the minimum enclosure volume (12-1/2" x 2" x 16") and the maximum enclosure volume (12-1/2" x 2" x 16-3/8"). Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed, so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output.

Q
Will 2 of these subs go well with a 1500 w skar mono block class d?
angel  Dec 26, 2023
1 answer
A
Greetings Angel. Thank you for your question. These subwoofers are rated for 150 watts RMS. With 2 of these, you would want your amplifier to only have 300 watts at 2 ohms. If that Skar amp is a true 1500 RMS watts, you want subs rated for 750 each.

Q

which ohm should I go with when using one speaker and what size amp?

I'm using a 4 ohm 300 watt 2 channel amp bridged to one kicker sub. It's a 300 watt max 4 ohm speaker try to match manufacturers specs to power applied to speaker.
peter  Jul 15, 2021
A
If using only 1 speaker I would use a 2 ohm unles running a class D amp, if Class D I would go 4 ohm and around 300 watts
jonathan  Jul 15, 2021
A
that all depends on which amp you would like. Go for an amp that has an RMS rating at or close to the RMS rating of your subwoofer. Crutchfield has wiring guides so you can figure out what your final resistance load to your amp would be wether it's just one or multiple subwoofers.

Q
is a skar 1200 watt amp good for two of these subs?
giovany  Nov 11, 2020
1 answer
A
Absolutely but if running amp in bridge mode the subs will drop to 2 ohms. These subs require minimal power. I run mine at around 275 watts to each subs as the peak is 300.

Q
I have the kicker 12 in 43C124 it was sounding fine and then it started to make a distorted cracking sound at low volume but when turn up you dont hear it and still hits hard what is the issue?
timothy  Oct 27, 2020

Hi Tim, it's hard to diagnose without being hands on but the first things i check are the ground and power connections at the battery and the amp. Those things are out of site and out of mind and can loosen especially in an automobile. Then check all other wiring connections speaker, amp adapter if using one, rca plugs etc. Also check for signs of moisture. The symptoms make me think its a ground wire loose. That speaker is one tough hombre. Wouldn't suspect any issues with it at lower volumes. Make sure something else isn't rattling on the box making it sounds like speaker noise. Troubleshooting is aggravating. Check that ground wire. I hope this helps.

I've had mine for about 6 months and I haven't run into any issues like this. Maybe it's a loose connection?
kieran  Oct 28, 2020
A
Tweak the amp settings on the amplifier. Also? Check the cables and make sure they are fitted nicely and no copper loose or not touching unwanted metals. It happens once and found it was the positive battery terminal that needed tightening. But amp settings could be too much for speaker also
