I am disappointed

Written by: ybot1234 from Cordova, TN on May 5, 2014

Bought speakers for my wife's car. Not impressed with sound at all. Distortion at all volume including Bluetooth. Did not realize how bad it was because we had other cars. Speakers definitely turned my wife to driving other cars. This speaker is history.

Pros: Installation as advertised.

Cons: Random distortion at all volumes even when on Bluetooth. One turns on and off randomly. Drilling required to mount.

Good Speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers vastly improved my high end over stock. hooked up to a Kenwood deck from Crutchfield, and an old Phoenix Gold QX4150. They were all the high end I needed paired up with a kicker factory sub set up. Lots of sound, very loud easy to install on a Nissan Versa.

Pros: good sound good price

Cons: one pair blew (my fault amp X-over), but I never knew because the fronts sounded so darn good, (found out nearly a year later from a passenger) maybe this is a pro?

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow, I am so stoked with these little speakers! I replaced the rear panels with these in my 2001 dodge Dakota, and even though they were blown out, I am really impressed at the quality of sound that these things throw out. Thanks to the goods thrown in by crutch field, the install went seamlessly and only took about 45 minutes between me and my brother. I love the quality of sound they give, and I will buy some products from these guys again!

Pros: Crisp, awesome lows and highs. Easy installation with the harness and brackets provided. The price is right!

Cons: None so far.

Livin Loud !!! Must Buy!!!

Written by: Dominic V from Virginia Beach, VA on January 20, 2013

Installed in 98' Accord LX. Replaced my old Pioneer deck after 11 years with a Kenwood. Then replaced my 6 1/2 pioneer 3-way with the Kickers. Keep in mind I have 2 apms 1-4channel and a mono block for my sub. Just started replacing piece by piece. These kicker sound amazing. I was going to get componets buy my friend bought a pair and told me the price. I had replaced my 2 10 JL W6's with 1 12' cvr kicker and 800 watt ZX series app. Only third of the cost and my sub bangs with the best !!! I recomend these to all. I read some of the reviews about these not having bass. So not true. But I guess if your rockin a factory is what it is. I tested the bass and as I thought they hit low if you want, and they rock out mids like they were designed to. My opinion don't drop 250 and get these for 65.

Pros: Crisp , clear , good bass ,power full(with amp) very affordable for its class.

Cons: none, so buy them !

Couldn't be happier

Written by: Tq004 from Ontario on January 10, 2013

The speakers are a 5 star because they were exactly what I wanted. A reasonable price with a very decent sound. I would give it 4 stars because of the bracket I used supplied I had to modify it to make it fit correctly. But my review is based on the quality of the speaker. 5 stars

Pros: Great sound, price and very good customer service apon ordering. And the easy hook up from factory wire to speaker was a breeze

Cons: Bracket sent didn't fit properly had to modify to fit.

Great sound...not as much bass as I was hoping to have

2012 Nissan Versa
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace the factory speakers in a 2012 Nissan Versa. Obviously, the bar was not very high, but these speakers really sound good. Much better than the 'premium' speakers in my other cars that cost 3x from the car manufacturer. OTOH, I was hoping for, and sort of expecting, a bit more bass from Kicker speakers. I know they are 6.5" speakers and shallow, as well, so I can't rate the speakers poorly for my out-of-line expectations. Now, where to put a sub...

Pros: Crisp, clean sound from top to bottom

Cons: Not as much bass as you might expect from Kicker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these to replace blown speakers in a Jeep Cherokee with the Infinity Sound System. Your website gave me a selection and after an online chat and an email from your staff they recommended these speakers. The original speakers were blown when I bought the Jeep for my son so I can't compare the sound to the original but after the very easy installation, especially with the wiring harness that was included, the sound quality was amazing. Very pleased with the product, service and fast shipping!

Pros: Easy installation and the included wring harness made it especially simple.

Cons: none

DS60 in 2007 Silverado New Body

2007 Chevrolet Silverado (New Body Style
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

While these speakers have much clearer highs and mids at low volume, I had trouble with distortion at all volumes once any bit of bass was introduced. Even after the break in period, these speakers had less volume and bass than the stock speakers w/ factory head unit. The three stars are for Crutchfield. They bent over backwards to make this right. If every business ran like this we would not be in a recession. They asked me what I wanted to do, I told them, they did it. Awesome bunch of people. My doctor never treated me with this much respect, and he takes a heck of a lot more of my money!

These speakers seem to be a quality product, HOWEVER, you MUST use them with an upgraded head unit! I do not think these were meant for bass. These are higher wattage speakers so your factory HU will not cut the mustard!

Pros: CRUTCHFIELD CUSTOMER SERVICE! Buy with confidence. Even if this product doesnt do what it needs to for you they will make it right. HOWEVER, do take the time to call them first so you get exactly what you need for your system.

Cons: Bad bass, ok mids, good clarity. One turns on and off randomly, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt....these do not fit in the standard mounting brackets because they have this shroud around them, so prepare to get creative on the mounting.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers after my OEM speakers blew. I've got a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt with a Sony XAV-60, and two 10" JL W3v3's. These speakers work well with the setup I have. Easy installation, great sound quality, and a decent price what more can you ask for. I also bought the speaker "baffles" to prevent them from shorting out. (like the originals did because of water getting past the bottom window seal common problems on cobalts). I also plan on buying these speakers again in a couple weeks to put in the rear deck. I've also installed these same Kickers on my managers 2000 GMC Sierra and he absolutely LOVES them. They've been in his truck for over a year now without any problems. So all and all great product, great sound, decent price. So what are you waiting for GO BUY A PAIR!

Pros: Great sound, easy install

Cons: NONE!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

installed in dash of a 2010 wrangler unlimited. factory sound quality was atrocious. i wanted an upgrade without dropping the money on a stand alone sub, and the kickers fit the bill. provide great sound quality and sufficient base to appreciate the music, withought dropping alot of coin. would definately recommend these to anyone.

Pros: great speaker.....crutchfield supplied wiring harness made hookup a breeze

Cons: none, other than the fact that putting them in a wrangler dash is a feat in and of itself....but thats a jeep delima.

First set of Kickers

Written by: Twrenn from VB on October 18, 2012

I bought this set of Kickers to begin upgrading the factory "premium" system in my 2008 Honda Accord sedan. I know not to expect bass out of a speaker this size, but was shocked that my stock set had more than these. Of course they're very clear and clean, but no bass at all. For whatever reason, the stock set's volume level was better. Now the Kickers will move to the front doors and the JLs I ordered today will replace them in the deck. Sub and amp next! Btw, I'm not replacing the factory HU because the dash kits seem to suck (based on reviews). Honda did a nice job on the dash, and I hate to cheapen it. I'm no audiophile, so take this review with a grain of salt. Just don't have illusions of grandeur from this particular pair of Kickers.

Pros: Crisp sound

Cons: Less bass than stock Honda speakers (they almost went back to Crutchfield).

2000 GMC Sierra 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very easy install for 2000 GMC Sierra with 4 doors. Provided speaker adapters and mounting brackets worked as advertised. Door removal was easier than expected with accurate Crutchfield instructions and watching a You Tube Video in advance of the work. The speakers attached easily to the supplied speaker brackets which speeded up the install. For my vehicle, only the tab located at the 3 o'clock location needed to be removed. Just make sure you secure the speaker wire to the wire bundle at the bottom of the door as the speaker adapters add additional length the speaker connection that may interfere with the window operation. The DS60s sound far better than the original stock speakers. Total install time was less than 2 hours.

Pros: Improved sound quality. Easy install.

Cons: None Noticed.

Great sound quality. I had these hooked up just to my factory radio in a 2011 Jetta and they sound was pretty good. Once I put the Alpine Power Pack in the sound quality improved a lot. The bass is decent and the highs are excellent. I only give them 4 stars because if you turn up the radio pretty loud the speaker begin to distort. Maybe I just need to adjust the gain on the amp.

For the price you can not beat these speakers.

Pros: Good bass/mids, excellent highs.

Cons: The sensitivity my be a little high.

I bought these to replace my factory speakers in my 2007 Civic. Initially, I thought my factory speakers sounded just fine, but since I was upgrading my head unit; I decided to upgrade the entire system. After installing these Kicker 6-1/2's all the way around the car; I was very impressed by the way they sounded. The highs were crispy and the lows weren't too bad either. I added an amp to them and WHOO... very nice! I have been a long time Crutchfield customer from back in the days when all you could do is return the form in the book, or call to order. In that time, I have bought almost all brands of speakers. Now, I rely solely on Kicker or Polk to provide the sound in my vehicle. These two brands sound great, are of good quality, and are very affordable.

Pros: Crispy Highs, Decent Lows.

Cons: None

Replaced all 4 speakers in my 2009 Honda Accord Coupe. Installed in a couple hours cause the front doors were somewhat tricky to come off. Once installed I was very pleased with overall sound!!! Great bass response for the size. I do recommend buying a sub for that extra low end though. Sounds amazing with the Sound Ordnance BP-8!! Even running from a factory HU. No need to think too hard about this one....These will not disappoint!!!!!

Pros: Great bass, crisp sound, does not distort.

Cons: None

Great speakers and service worth the extra price.

Written by: EGD from Chicagoland, IL on September 1, 2012

First, I will state the obvious - Crutchfield was more expensive. These speakers could be had for at least $10 less elsewhere. But then again, you do not get the service and speaker brackets/wire harnesses Crutchfield provides.

Second, the order arrived very quickly with free shipping and no tax. What amazed me was the installation instructions and wire harnesses that made installation a breeze. The only issue I encountered was that the screws and clips provided did not fit my daughter's RAV4. One trip to the local Ace and the problem was solved.

The speakers are a vast improvement over the stock units and provide a good value. So much so that I am ordering another pair today for the rear doors - from Crutchfield.

Pros: Great OVERALL value on speakers and service

Cons: Installation hardware is not universal

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I dropped these into the kick panels of my '01 Honda Civic LX Coupe. Just needed to drill some holes and that was that. The problem showed up when less than 2 days later the left side blew out and got scratchy. My HU is a cheap Dual from walmart (it was cheap and has an IPod hook up). So I know that the Dual doesn't push that much power to blow these speakers. I read reviews of people hooking these up to amps and they do fine. Definitely not impressed with the QC at Kicker. This is my first purchase from Kicker and definitely my last. You only get one shot at a first impression and they blew it.

Pros: Easy install

Cons: One speaker blew within 48 hours.

Very clear with good mids, highs, and decent bass. I did add a sub that I had laying around from another install about a week after installing these and that finished it off nicely.

Pros: Great price, very good sound, good instructions, and as always superb support from Crutchfield if needed.

Pros: Easy install, great sound. Well worth it.

2000 Jeep Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As you all know factory systems are complete garbage and for my 2000 jeep cherokee thats an understatement. I compared many different speakers specs and prices and actually decided to purchase kicker DS60s for my front doors and kicker DS525s for my rear roof. I will have to say that i am very pleased with the clarity and power that the tweeters can belt out. The vocals to every song come out crystal clear with no distortion and thats without an amp its just my kenwood excelon head unit powering them. Now as for bass resonse I can't really say cuz I turned up the high pass filter since I have 2 12" JBL GT-5 subs in the back pounding all the bass. But even for anyone out there who is just looking to upgrade they're boring factory paper speakers and not adding subs I highly reccomend these speakers they sound amazing and are an incredible value. Kicker is da ish lolllll

Pros: Sweet crystal clear highs and they look really cool too lol. Installation was soooo easy.

Cons: Cons? None at all!

01 Jeep Cherokee front doors - Good speakers

Written by: Lindsey from East Texas on July 23, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these speakers at the recommendation of a Crutchfield adviser. She indicated they had good sensitivity and would fit into my doors after only drilling new holes. I was actually able to use the existing holes, and these speakers are being held in by the two screws they came with and are doing great. The sound is clean and clear. Bass is perfectly acceptable considering I have no amp/subwoofer and don't intend on getting them. I have Kicker KS525's in the back; I asked the adviser about KS being better than the DS series and she said it wouldn't matter for my system (no amp/woofer) and that these DS's had good sensitivity as I mentioned. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase. The speakers were put in easily with the connectors Crutchfield sent and sound great. I do need to play around a bit with the treble - it's a bit sharp right now, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Pros: Clear sound. Good price. Easy installation.

Cons: None so far.

2010 Honda Civic EX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very good product overall. Installation was easy following the Crutchfield instructions but I had to mod the rear speaker Honda covers. I just couldn't find them to fit right. The Kickers fit in the opening to the vehicle, but not once I tried putting the Honda cover back on, so I cut about a 1/4"-1/2" ring into both rear covers and it fit fine. It must have been the weird shape the speakers' outer frame had. Also, even after new speakers in the rear my civic kept the cheap, computer-speaker sound my stock speakers had. Hopefully a new head unit(I'm still using stock) will separate the sound better. I also installed the DS60's in the front and thats when I saw the real Kicker performance! Excellent highs and mids, and decent bass.

Don't expect them to rattle your door too much but it provides very good bass for the interior of the cabin. For someone on a budget and wants a replacement to the stock speakers, get these. You'll notice the difference in quality once you compare the weight of the magnets and quality.

Installed on a 10' Civic EX sedan stock radio.

Pros: Great sound, quality, easy installation and you can't beat the price for what you're getting!

Cons: Had to mod the rear Honda speakers coverings a little bit. For some reason these speakers sound bad in the rear deck and great in the front. Must be the stock head unit cause a 5 yr old could install them so I know it was the installation.

My stock speakers could pick up deep bass pretty well but the highs became distorted, these do not pick up low bass well. They do best in mids and some highs. I thought from the reviews that these speakers would somewhat blow my stockers out of the water... however I feel like I just traded some characteristics out. These speakers are ok. My headunit is stock and I replaced regular stock speakers. No amplifier or any special equipment. My headunit only makes these speakers sound different/better than the replaced ones at high volume, nearly all the way cranked up. The look nice and sound decent. I'm just glad I got them at a discounted rate or I may have returned them. I'm hoping, eventually, to replace my headunit and potentially get a small powered sub, as these speakers lack bass, but are good on mids and highs.

Pros: * Good price * Came with everything to install * A bit crisper than OEM speakers * A tad more bass

Cons: * Bass is weak, but this may be due to my OEM headunit * Covers were useless for my particular install * Might need to be amped for full range of sound, or may need a sub for full, rich bass

Poor sound fidelity

Written by: Ron from Dallas, TX on April 23, 2012

2007 Honda Civic LX

These speakers do not produce the sound very accurately. The base is poor which I more or less expected at this price range. But , I expected a better overall sound fidelity. Highs are muffled, mids are weak and tiny. perhaps for the low price of the speakers that's the best you can get, but I should have spent an extra $50 or so and gotten a set with better sound reproduction.

Pros: Price

Cons: Weak base (expected), poor sound reproduction overall

I was surprised at the poor bass response and lack of sound depth. They work adequate with the rear speakers (for bass) already in place. If used solo, nothing below 500 htz is audible. The factory speakers have more bass.

2005 Nissan Frontier
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed a pair in the rear doors of my Nissan Frontier KC and they made all the difference in the world by improving the clarity of the music and lyrics. And, it's great to have thumping bass again. I still have the factory speakers up front; but I can run the whole system on the two Kickers and not lose any sound quality. The low price and free shipping were icing on the cake.

Pros: Very easy install with the Bojo 3-piece tool kit. No more screwdrivers to damage trim panels. Haven't noticed any distortion when cranking up the volume. The sound comes through crystal clear even the faintest cymbal can be heard.

Cons: I wish they were made to fit the front doors too, then I'd have a nearly perfect sound system.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a Pioneer fan for years. Everything I bought was of the Pioneer brand. However, I decided to take a risk and branch out to these kickers. I bought these speakers to replace my factory pieces of garbage and it was an instant noticeable difference. I listen to a lot of rock and the instant I heard those guitars coming through crystal clear on these new speakers I became an instant Kicker fan! The bass is amazing (could be a little bit stronger) and the tiniest strike of the drums is heard with effortless ease. Amazing speakers! I will be buying the 6x9 version here shortly and recommend you do the same.

Pros: Solid construction. Great mounting surface on the bracket. I crank the volume up all the way and haven't heard any distortion.

Cons: Could have the positive and negative wire hook up labeled.

Kicker Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like the difference these speakers made in my Saleen Mustang Convertible in my rear setup. I have the stock Mach stereo system so don't waste your money on purchasing the XTC 6-1/2" Speaker Baffles. The convertibles at least have the speakers already enclosed/housed, plus the baffles don't fit anyway. Strongly recommend the baffles for the front setup. You don't need the wire harness for the rear if you are expecting this. Simple plug and play. You'll have to make an additional two holes in the Mach speaker enclosure since they won't align with the stock speaker hole setup. Don't use a drill for the new holes just screw in with some minor elbow grease to get the job done. Wait to get the instructions on removing the molding etc and do not pry the speaker coverings. Other than that these tips should help you with a clean and smooth install with out the surprises.

Pros: Clear, crisp and concise sound.

Cons: Base doesn't hit as hard but still good enough to enjoy all types of music.

2010 Jeep Liberty
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Well i just bought my new jeep and decided the first thing i wanted to change would be my speakers. So i placed my order for 4 of the kickers. Then after i received my confirmation that my speakers were inbound i noticed to my horror that the screen over my jeep speakers wasn't a screen at all but rather just a line in my door panel. Fearing this was going to be a difficult install now i was worried about getting my order instead of excited. When my order finally showed up though Crutchfield came through as they included very easy to read and understand instructions specifically for my vehicle. So what had been an "oh crap" moment turned into a easy day. Although after installing the first 3 speakers i was confronted with another problem, one of the wire harnesses that Crutchfield provided was damaged and missing the positive wire, but with one call to their customer service and without any hassle at all i have a new wire harness inbound. To my surprise actually before i even got off the phone with customer service my email had already alerted me that a new harness was inbound. Their customer service was probably the best I've ever dealt with and to me that is worth more than any product a company can provide.

Pros: Speakers sound great.

Cons: Haven't had anything i could complain about yet

Bought 4 for a replacement of factory speakers in a 2000 VW Golf. This is the third set of Kicker speakers I have purchased over the last 5 years, one for each of my cars. As you can tell, I have been beyond pleased with them and will probably never own another brand. Install was slightly difficult, but that was the car interior's fault and not the speakers. Good clean sound and unbelievable reliability, you can't go wrong.

Pros: Stellar Mid-range and Highs, 9 out of 10 Bass output. Reliability and quality are unparalleled in my experience.

Cons: Nothing so-far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wanted some decent bass and treble in my '06 Mitsubishi Evolution, but I didn't want to add a sub or any amps. I chose these based on friend testimonials and reviews here. I decided to go with just a rear set first and WOW, huge difference over the stock paper junk speakers. Bass is very good for such a small speaker and the highs are so much cleaner and crisper than stock. I will definitely be ordering a set for the front doors very soon. My only gripe was they aren't a direct fit into the rear deck or front doors of the car and the adapters are a little chintzy. But they are worth dealing with, as the sound quality is such a big improvement from stock.

Pros: Excellent bass for their size, highs are very good, don't need to be amped to get good sound, durable construction

Cons: Not a direct fit into my application, provided speaker mounting brackets are not the greatest

I'm impressed! I had already replaced the stock stereo (with a JVC unit from Crutchfield, of course!) in my '04 Toyota Matrix, but felt that the factory speakers were lacking, and they had power handling problems. I installed these, and my whole car came alive. What a difference. Substantially more bass than the stock speakers, and great clear highs. I am very happy, and have no complaints. They included vehicle specific installation instructions, speaker mounting adaptors, and speaker wire harness adapters, and free shipping. I don't have a higher dollar reference, but I would say that these would be hard to beat for the money. Thanks, Crutchfield! 8-)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had these speakers for about three months now and they are amazing. The sound is super clear and bass is very strong considering their size and price. I'm always tempted to crank up the volume on car trips because I love the notes they produce and don't mind showing them off :) Installation was a cinch with the provided manual and parts, but as mentioned before, the installation kit for my '97 grand cherokee, specifically the plastic bracket, was made of cheap, flexible plastic. I haven't had any problems yet, but certainly would have been willing to pay a little extra for a nicer kit. If you are considering a replacement/ upgrade, definitely consider these speakers, they are much better than even the top line of factory sound.

Pros: Sound quality, ease of installation, bass is very good, price

Cons: installation kit for '97 jeep grand cherokee seemed a little cheap, haven't had any problems so far though.

I just installed two pairs of these kickers in the front and rear doors of my 2005 Pontiac Vibe. They are currently being driven by the factory stereo until I get the chance to replace it with an aftermarket bluetooth enabled head unit. I ordered the speakers on a Saturday afternoon and received them on Wednesday with free shipping. The price was right and the free speaker brackets and wiring adapters worked great. Good sound especially when cranked up. Cant say there is a tremendous upgrade of sound from the factory speakers that I replaced. One of them was still good and I listened to it and then plugged one of these in...not to much different, but the factory speakers sounded good to begin with(6x9's). I agree with a few of the other reviews and I DO know a sub is for bass, but these things do not push hardly any bass at all. Dissapointed with that part. I read the reviews that these had no bottom end, but that is hogwash. You can't expect booming bass from a 6-1/2" speaker, that's what a sub is for. However, these things have a good amount of low end, making your music fill out wonderfully.
