You love listening to epic, soul-shaking tunes in your ride, but your factory speakers make every song sound like a 60's garage band. Replace those worn-out speakers with some Kicker DS Series models, and get the performance and reliability you deserve.

The DS68.2 component system features heavy-duty 6"x8" polypropylene woofers, supported by heavy-duty polyester foam surrounds, that'll bring out the power and impact of your tunes. The woofers will also fit in most 5"x7" speaker locations.

Titanium 3/4" dome tweeters broadcast bright, sweet vocal and instrumental details, giving your music energy and ambiance. External crossovers send the high frequencies to the tweeters and lower frequencies to the woofers, so your music's in the proper harmonic balance. Hook these components up to an amp, and you'll hear new power and impact from your favorite tunes.

  • 2-way external crossover network (12 dB/octave, 4,000 Hz high- and low-pass)

Why install component speakers?

A component speaker system gives you the best possible performance from your car audio system. A system consists of separate woofers, tweeters, and crossovers, each designed to cover one specific range of frequencies. As separate components, the woofer can move freely to deliver more powerful performance, while the tweeter can be custom-mounted in a better spot up closer to your ears, revealing a whole new world of detail. Separate crossovers are far superior to the simple filters wired into full-range speakers, so the components work together for smoother, more focused sound.

Before you rush out to buy an amp and sub to upgrade your factory Ford system, first install a pair of these! Amazing lows, while the tweeters keep the music crisp. I highly recommend these!

Pros: Excellent sound quality.

Cons: Need to be familiar with tweeter placement, and savvy with finding a location for the splitter.

Kicker DS68.2 Sounds Great

Five star sound! I really didn't realize how muddy my factory speakers were. Be aware though, there are a few things the instructions do not address. For a 2008 F-150 Super Cab, you need to lower the window and mark its path when you are looking through the empty 6x8 hole or you will mount the crossover box incorrectly (I know this from experience) and the window will knock it off. Second, it is difficult to unscrew the mounting plate from the tweeters. But you will need to do this to get them to fit in the factory provided hole. Lastly, you will not need the wiring harness as the bare wires insert directly into the crossover box. You'll need to guess which wire goes where, but hey it's a 50/50 chance you'll get it right the first time!

Pros: Crisp sound.

Cons: Difficult to remove the tweeteres screw on/off back plate.

Decent But Crossover Failed

These speakers are decent for the money, however, the crossovers are very cheap. I had one fail (capacitor broke right off the super thin wire holding it in) in less than a year. Rather than try and warranty, I just bought replacement crossovers for about $20. The DS line is the cheapest, maybe consider the KS if you want more quality.

Pros: Decent speaker magnets

Cons: cheap crossovers

Qreat Sound

installed in the front doors of 06 ford F150 Super Crew, dropped right in and sound great, matched up with the 6x8 coaxials for the rear doors for rear fill, mids and highs sound crisp and clear, buy subs to go with these as they have a small amount of bass but not what you would want compared to a sub woofer.

Pros: crisp, clear highs, adjustable crossover, mid range is great

Cons: none yet

2004 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers into my stock system and at first they sounded great and was very impressed then i cranked my volume up to about 37-38 which is equal to the wattage entering the speakers and all four of my speakers blew i was extremely dissatisfied. I used to think kicker was a good brand but i guess ill just put my stocks back in with the addition of the awesome tweeters. But notice it says power handiling was 6-45 watts. Whats up with that. Anyway not a good investment i guess.

Pros: Great sound quality at a low volume and the high freq. sounds were amazing

Cons: They cant handle much power

Great speakers, great price, great install

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very satisfied with these Kickers. I searched a while before settling with these and I feel for the price, they are delivering great sound. Install was easy - even custom fitting the tweeters. Some people have said that the bass is weak, but I don't agree. There's plenty there. I've found myself tuning down the lows in order to "play fair" to the mids and highs. Mids and highs are very crisp and clear. Great set of speakers.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers. I'm an old fogey so I don't blast them the sound at low volume is great. Installation in my F250 SuperCab was easy. I flush mounted the tweeters to the door panel. I lost the flush ring and called Crutchfield, and they are gonn send them to me. Can't beat their service and tech support.

I was a little worried in buying these. These speakers have unbelievable crisp highs coming out of those tweeters. I can't believe I have been listening all this time to the regular 2-way speakers with no tweeters. I am extremely pleased to have these in my car. My car is balanced now with the 3-way coaxials I have in the back.
