Features

Polypropylene Woofer Cones: The Kicker KS-series speakers feature durable polypropylene woofer cones for power and control. Polypropylene is also resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Santoprene Surrounds: The woofer surrounds are made of Santoprene rubber to allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. Santoprene is durable and resists moisture for a long life.

Balanced Dome Tweeters: The 1/2" PEN (Polyethylene Naphthalate) balanced dome tweeters provide a smooth high frequency response with a wide dispersion pattern. The tweeters have strong neodymium magnets for higher power handling.

Mounting: The speakers can be mounted in a metric 4"x6" opening, or using one of the supplied adapter brackets, mounted in a U.S. standard 4"x6" opening.

Fit first gen S10 dash with a slight mod.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So the Crutchfield website said these wouldn't work in the dash for my 87 GMC S15. I called and the adviser said it was because the magnet was too big. I went to the garage and removed my stock speakers. It didn't look like the passenger side would be a problem but on the drivers side, the housing for the instrument cluster looked like it would be an issue...and it was. My first thought was to just hack a chunk off the corner. I couldn't find a saw that could get in there. I ordered the speakers anyway because I wanted to use the KS410s in the rear. When they came, I test fitted and it seemed they would fit, but the magnet just barely interfered with the cluster housing as the speaker swung into plate. I modified the speaker grill by cutting the hooks at an angle so that they could snap into place rather than swing. After using a file to take a hair off of the corner of the cluster housing, it fit like a glove. Crutchfield came through with free speaker wire adapters, so the rest of the install was easy. These in combination with the KS410s in the rear work great with my JVC head unit at 20w rms per channel. Being a bit of an audiophile, I was skeptical of elliptical speakers. I generally believe round speakers produce a more accurate sound, but for the sake of not having to hack the truck much, these were a good compromise. Don't expect chest thumping bass, but for a small low wattage speaker, they sound good when installed and powered correctly.

Pros: Quality workmanship, Crutchfield hooks you up on free installation gear, good sound for an elliptical.

Cons: Its still an elliptical, a little more expensive than the competitors.

Great Front Speakers in Jeep Wrangler

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these in the dash of a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, using bass blockers. They are a dramatic improvement over the old original speakers.

Pros: Great sound

Cons: Upper power limit could be higher

Not kickers best

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not kickers best speaker. Very disappointed with this product. Not at all what you would expect from the kicker name. If I was kicker I would be ashamed to have my name on this product. Sound clarity is pretty good but performance sucks. Not much bass or treble for an aftermarket speaker. Sadly enough think factory sounded better.

Pros: None

Cons: Doesn't live up to kicker performance

Wrangler

Written By Darren A, Gunnison, CO on Sunday, April 22, 2012

I placed these speakers in the dash of my Jeep Wrangler. Once I had replaced the stock speakers I could tell a major difference in sound quality. I also I have now replaced the sound bar speakers with the Kicker DS's and they work together nicely. Huge upgrade from the stock speakers. And crutchfield included everything I needed to install them very quickly and easily.

Pros: they sounds great, work well

Cons: I had to put a layer of foam behind the mount to reduce rattle because they did not fit exactly right

Crutchfield's dimensions are wrong

Written By kjh, Culpeper, VA 22701 on Monday, October 03, 2011

At the time I purchased these speakers, Crutchfield's web site said they had a depth of 1-3/16 inch. This was crucial to them fitting my car's door. I asked salesman at the store to double check the product, and he assured me it was 1-3/16. In fact, the depth is 1-13/16, and they do not fit. I am giving these speakers a low rating because they failed on the one criterion that led me to select them; it's possible they are very fine speakers, but I'll never know.

[Editor's Note: We have updated our info to reflect the correct depth of the speakers. ]
