I paired these with a Boston Acoustic-5750 5 channel amp, and a head unit with an iPod hookup and ended up with the best sounding ever!! These speakers are powerful enough to be subs alone, but with a sub, WOW! The only tricky part of the install was mounting the cross-overs in the door panels, do some measuring before hand with cardboard mock-ups and there will be no problems. Excellent sound and a good fit. Pulled the dash "tweeters" and with a few modifications with a Dremel to the stock dash mounts, they look 100% stock. The crossovers are a bit large but stashed them in the console without major issues. The sound is very clean; excellent mid-range and highs using only the head unit built in amp (Kenwood KDC-BT848). The crossover has a 3 position selector switch to tweak the tweeter levels (volume), currently set on 3 (highest) but will likely change to 2 since the sound is just a tad bright even with the head unit EQ set with no treble boost. Not a significant bass presence but that's not what I am using them for. I would not recommend these if you are looking at these as a full-range system expecting a lot of bass- that's not what these are designed for. Great mid-punch and clean highs. All I can say is wow, the kicker speakers blew me away, the highs are crisp and you can set the crossover level to suit your taste, solid mids, the lows arn't the greatest, but thats why I have a subwoofer. I have the crossover set to 60hz on my amp which seems to be a sweet spot on these speakers. I should note these speakers are being powered by an alpine amp pushing 90w per channel at 4ohms, so the kickers are at their full glory, they are still in the "break in" period, I have cranked them up but only for short amount of time. They have a very flexible design to mount the speakers just about anywhere and for any application. I installed these in the Kick panels of My 1987 Monte Carlo SS and have these powered by the alpine 445 with 40 RMS and sound great. They sound very crisp and clear. I have owned many pairs of Mids and Highs in my day from Boston to Focal and would rate these at the top because of the price. You get more bang for your buck. Powered by an Alpine KPT-445 they play clean and clear at any volume level. The tweeters are not harsh and the woofers provide great midrange. Have them crossed over at the head unit at 80Hz. Install was super simple in the stock front door location by installing the tweeter in the center of the woofer like a co-axial speaker. Most component speakers require custom mounting holes for the tweeters, but these have the additional option of mounting the tweeter in the center while utilizing the factory door panels. The factory speaker grills in the doors don't quite clear the tweeter, so they push the grill out just barely. The tweeters could have been mounted separate, but this kept the installation simple and still provides good sound imaging having the tweeter close to the woofer. The woofer installation required new holes be drilled in the door, but the overall opening and mounting depth accepted the speaker just fine easily clearing the window mechanism. The crossovers mounted easily in the door between the window and the door panel. Crutchfield even provides factory harness adapters so none of the factory wiring had to be permanently modified. Features Woofer Cones: The Kicker KS-series speakers feature durable Polypropylene woofer cones, resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications. Santoprene Surrounds: The woofer surrounds are made of Santoprene rubber to allow extended cone excursion for additional bass output and higher SPL. Santoprene is durable and resists moisture for a long life. Grilles: The KS6.2s come with graphite-colored, plastic, spoke-style speaker grilles. Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters come with brackets to allow multiple mounting configurations; flush-mounted, angle-mounted, and surface-mounted: Flush Angle Surface Mounting Height 0.322" 0.716" 1.195" Mounting Depth 0.775" 0.631" screw depth Frame Diameter 2.323" 2.323" 1.911" Cutout Diameter 1.753" 1.753" N/A Coaxial Tweeter Mount: In addition to standard tweeter mounting options, an innovative tweeter mounting post lets you mount the tweeter directly to the center of the woofer, giving you a standard coaxial speaker. When the tweeter is attached to the woofer the mounting height increases to 1.054" (top mount) and the tweeter protrusion increases to 0.796" (bottom mount). Crossovers: The component system includes passive 2-way crossover networks for a seamless transition between the woofers and tweeters. The slope is 12dB per octave (both high pass and low pass) and the crossover point is 4000 Hz. A switch on each crossover allows you to attenuate the tweeter output; 0 dB, -4.5 dB, or -9 dB. The crossovers' dimensions are: Length: 5.718" Width: 3.012" Height: 1.487" Size Classification Note: Crutchfield has traditionally referred to this size speaker as a 6-1/2", while Kicker calls it a 6". I paired these with a Boston Acoustic-5750 5 channel amp, and a head unit with an iPod hookup and ended up with the best sounding ever!! These speakers are powerful enough to be subs alone, but with a sub, WOW! The only tricky part of the install was mounting the cross-overs in the door panels, do some measuring before hand with cardboard mock-ups and there will be no problems. Excellent sound and a good fit. Pulled the dash "tweeters" and with a few modifications with a Dremel to the stock dash mounts, they look 100% stock. The crossovers are a bit large but stashed them in the console without major issues. The sound is very clean; excellent mid-range and highs using only the head unit built in amp (Kenwood KDC-BT848). The crossover has a 3 position selector switch to tweak the tweeter levels (volume), currently set on 3 (highest) but will likely change to 2 since the sound is just a tad bright even with the head unit EQ set with no treble boost. Not a significant bass presence but that's not what I am using them for. I would not recommend these if you are looking at these as a full-range system expecting a lot of bass- that's not what these are designed for. Great mid-punch and clean highs. 5 out of 5 Epic Sound Written By LBGreenthumb, VA on Friday, July 22, 2011 Lets start by saying these speakers were replacing a pair of polk audio 5 1/4" db speakers in the front doors of my car. All I can say is wow, the kicker speakers blew me away, the highs are crisp and you can set the crossover level to suit your taste, solid mids, the lows arn't the greatest, but thats why I have a subwoofer. I have the crossover set to 60hz on my amp which seems to be a sweet spot on these speakers. I should note these speakers are being powered by an alpine amp pushing 90w per channel at 4ohms, so the kickers are at their full glory, they are still in the "break in" period, I have cranked them up but only for short amount of time. I have been in the car audio game for more than 20yrs and I am absolutely blown away with the design of these speakers. They have a very flexible design to mount the speakers just about anywhere and for any application. I installed these in the Kick panels of My 1987 Monte Carlo SS and have these powered by the alpine 445 with 40 RMS and sound great. They sound very crisp and clear. I have owned many pairs of Mids and Highs in my day from Boston to Focal and would rate these at the top because of the price. You get more bang for your buck. I had these speakers installed in my g35 coupe and I am very pleased with how they sound. I have a 60 watt kenwood amp powering them, and they are extremely loud. They have excellent tone at high volume, and are very crisp and clear. They provide great Mids and Highs, and surprisingly good bass at the higher frequency that the subs can't always hit. I outift my 2005 Honda Accord with KS6.2's in the front door and KS69's in the rear deck above the trunk. I decided to leave the head unit stock, to simplify my upgrades. The combination of speakers is simply incredible. My factory speakers sounded muddled and washed out. These Kicker components and rears catch ALL the details, and push out sound like there's no end to it! If you want sound clarity/accuracy, detail, warmth or richness, and power, look no further. Simply comparing the magnet sizes (and overall weight) of the Kicker speakers with the stock [cheap] speakers is enough to know that you're going to be in for some seriously great music! Powered by an Alpine KPT-445 they play clean and clear at any volume level. The tweeters are not harsh and the woofers provide great midrange. Have them crossed over at the head unit at 80Hz. Install was super simple in the stock front door location by installing the tweeter in the center of the woofer like a co-axial speaker. Most component speakers require custom mounting holes for the tweeters, but these have the additional option of mounting the tweeter in the center while utilizing the factory door panels. The factory speaker grills in the doors don't quite clear the tweeter, so they push the grill out just barely. The tweeters could have been mounted separate, but this kept the installation simple and still provides good sound imaging having the tweeter close to the woofer. The woofer installation required new holes be drilled in the door, but the overall opening and mounting depth accepted the speaker just fine easily clearing the window mechanism. The crossovers mounted easily in the door between the window and the door panel. Crutchfield even provides factory harness adapters so none of the factory wiring had to be permanently modified.
