You put some good bass in your car, but now your speakers just aren't hanging with your subs. Kicker designed their KS Series speakers to deliver the performance you need to bring that "live music" experience to your ride.

The KS65 6-3/4" 2-way speakers use heavy-duty polypropylene cones supported by Santoprene rubber surrounds. These speakers can handle high-level playback without straining, especially when they're powered by an outboard amplifier. Each speaker sports a titanium 3/4" dome tweeter that broadcasts plenty of high-frequency sparkle, so you'll hear all the sonic details that make your tunes exciting.

Why replace your factory speakers?

The speakers that originally came in your car were made from inexpensive materials, designed to create acceptable sound at the lowest possible cost to the manufacturer. If you love music, you deserve better. Name-brand aftermarket speakers deliver fuller, richer sound with considerably more detail and nuance, and they're capable of playing louder and cleaner than factory speakers. Connect new speakers to your factory radio and you'll get the best possible sound from your dealer-equipped system. Pair them up with a new car stereo for a level of enjoyment that can rival a high-fidelity home audio experience.

2003 Volvo V70
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I worked as a professional recording engineer in NYC for many years so I have no problem determining what I "like and don't like" from a speaker..The low and high end on these speakers is more than I can ask..I originally just replaced the 2 fronts ( 2003 Volvo V70 wagon ) leaving the OEM component tweets..At the same time, I added a JL Audio 10' sub through an Infinity 1300a..So far these pieces you can see are not top of the line for both and that wasn't my goal as it's an older car and wasn't planning on keeping much longer..Also the stock set-up was really and ok was never considered bad sounding..Well, just by adding these 3 components, the car came alive..(Stock deck, amp, mind you) Of course I expected better, but again, this was surprising..The high end blended perfectly with the stock tweets and the lows had that "fist to the rib cage" pounding were all looking for..Lower volumes held up well and didn't have major dips in response like a lot speakers, sounding great loud, but awful when down to grandma levels..Since that 1st upgrade, I've added (2) KS 65 in the rear channels, replaced the rear tweets with Infinity REF 075tx's, and added a 2nd Infinity amp, the (4) channel 475a..After spending an hour or so tuning the system ( critical! if you don't take the time to learn this step properly, your wasting time and money) Its like driving around in a mobile listening room..I couldn't be happier and you should be too with these speakers..Just don't drift off listening!

Pros: Great balance between low and high end..Lots of good bass at 80hz rolling off nicely to 300 hz or so..No harsh high end at high volume..

Cons: at this price?..none..

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 98 2-Dr. Tahoe. With only (2) doors I needed speakers that would produce good bass because the only other speakers in the Tahoe are (2) 4 x 10's in rear upper deck that produce minimal bass but add enough highs & mids to balance the sound. Rep recommended these speakers and I'm glad he did. These speakers produce very good bass for their size and the highs, mids are good. The Tahoe's original design has the main speaker separate from the tweeter. Upon installing the Kicker speakers I tried them with the factory tweeter hooked up and unhooked. To my ears leaving the factory tweeters hooked up produced a slightly better sound quality for the highs. If your application is 6 1/2's and you want good bass...these are your speakers.

Terrible as a drop-in replacement for OEM 6x9s in a 4Runner

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These poor speakers never had a chance. The door design in my 2004 4Runner is such that the front of the OEM speaker is sealed against the back of the interior door panel to provide front to back separation. Crutchfield's mounting kit works great to mount the speaker in the metal frame of the door but it leaves a large gap between the front of the speaker and the interior door panel. Because of this there is heavy low frequency cancellation from the back side of the speaker cone. You know how a speaker sounds when it's just sitting in free air with no enclosure? It was almost that bad. At low and mid bass frequencies the OEM speakers crushed the Kickers, it wasn't even close. It's not Kicker's fault, I don't think any speaker would do well in this situation.

Kudos to Crutchfield on their excellent customer service and hassle-free return.

Pros: Mid and high frequencies sounded clear, build quality seemed good.

Cons: No bass. Questionable as a simple drop-in OEM replacement, may require custom fabricated mounting adapters.

1998 Volkswagen Jetta III
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased these for my 98 Volkswagen Jetta GLX and they have a bit more bass then the original factory Bose speakers that were worn out. If you want to use the factory rear deck brackets and factory grills, these speakers are a perfect fit. And if your wondering, these speakers also fit in the front doors with the factory grills. You might have to re-drill a new hole for one screw. The Kicker KS65 is a good upgrade for great sound that your money can buy. I also rate 5 stars for Crutchfield and there customer service.
