Reluctant to pay dealership prices to get the equipment you need for XM service? Then this is the solution for you. The XM Direct package includes everything necessary to play XM over your compatible factory stereo: an XM tuner box, a roof-mount antenna, and the adapter cable that connects the tuner to your stereo. The tuner box is compact, so you can mount it easily in a convenient spot behind the dash. The adapter cable connects to the tuner at one end, and to your factory stereo at the other, providing both signal to the stereo and power to the tuner. The antenna mounts magnetically on your vehicle's roof, and connects to tuner box. The cable also has a pass-through that lets you keep an extra component, such as a factory (or factory-compatible) CD changer, connected to the system. Note: Your factory stereo must be XM-ready to work with this package. You'll find a list of vehicles that might have the XM option below. Written By Darren, Vienna, Virginia on Thursday, July 12, 2007 I just installed the unit in my 2006 Chrysler RBQ 6 Disk Radio and all works great! I even get all the song and artist information. I guess since I have such a new radio such as the RBQ with the RDS logo on the front all went so smoothly. I love it and as I tap the MODE button I go from AM-FM-CD-XM with no problems. I recommend it if you have one on the late model Chrysler radios. PS: I bought one for our other Chrysler vehicle back in 2005 that has a RB1 Navigation Radio in it and I got the same great results! The XM Direct package took 30 minutes to install in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 RBK radio. Only one screw to get the dash covering the radio off, 4 screws to remove the radio and had enough room to place the XM Direct components behind my dash. The biggest problem I had was finding a place to mount the XM receiver in the Jeeps cramped quarters. Under the drivers side of the dash provided the best place. Use industrial strength Velcro and you'll have no problems. For Jeep owners: You can mount the antenna underneath the hardtop on your soundbar with no problem. The signal comes in clear and strong because the fiberglass top does not deflect it. Best of all you have nothing inside or out that advertises to thieves that you have anything other than a factory stereo. Run your wires out of the dash, up the weather stripping on the door frame, over the rollbar and onto the soundbar. It looks clean and no wires ever show.Oh, XM direct worked just fine. Written By Stephen, Leesburg, VA on Thursday, December 29, 2005 I bought this product from Crutchfield in March of 2005. As of December 2005, I've returned the XMDirect Smart Digital Adapter (model # XMDPIO100) twice, once to Crutchfield and once to TERK. I've also returned the Universal Tuner Box (model # XMD1000) once to TERK.The problem I was experiencing was not being able to receive all the XM satellite radio stations. It started with all the channels not displaying. I called XM and they refreshed the stations for me. Only some of the stations displayed. I called again, and again, and finally was told to return the hardware because that was probably the problem. This problem hasn't gone away or been corrected. The TERK equipment STINKS and I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy it. Don't even take it if it's free. The other big problem with this product is that it's two pieces and difficult to fit behind your vehicle's dashboard. XM should NOT be indorsing this product. 2 out of 6 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 XM Tuner Install in '04 Dodge Ram 1500 Written By David, Blue Grass, IA on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 I installed this XM kit into my 2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab, with the RBQ In-Dash 6CD Radio and Infinity System. The antenna was easy and I mounted it at the rear of the cab, just ahead of the 3rd brake light, running the wire through and behind the 3rd brake lens, above the headliner, and down the A-pillar.The lower half of the dash had to be removed to find a location to install both the tuner and the adapter. I used velcro to secure both units, placing the tuner on top of the glove box enclosure and the adapter behind a vertical panel directly behind the radio surround bezel. The installation instructions are geared toward the professional, but with some forethought and planning, the install was not all that bad. It helped to have the factory tech manual for my truck to open up the headliner and remove and replace the pillar trim pieces and lower dash parts. I did not even have to call Crutchfield's Tech Support. But knowing they were available really gave me the confidence to try the install myself.Once everything was installed, connecting the wires was straight forward, truly plug and play. What's really nice about this setup, is there's nothing stuck on the dash, and the look remains factory. The XM system works great with my factory RBQ radio, including the display, the presets, and the factory steering wheel controls.Activation was a snap, and XM Radio really makes a nice addition. Total install time was about three hours. On a scale of 1 to 5 for difficulty, with 1 being a snap and 5 being rather difficult, I'd say this install was between 2 and 3. 28 out of 31 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? 5 out of 5 XM Tuner Install in '04 Dodge Ram 1500 Written By David, Blue Grass, IA on Wednesday, August 24, 2005 I installed this XM kit into my 2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab, with the RBQ In-Dash 6CD Radio and Infinity System.
