StreetWires 16-gauge Super Cable Speaker Wire

Overview

Our take on the StreetWires 16-gauge Super Cable™ Speaker Wire

Don't let low-grade speaker wire be the weak link in your car audio system. Get every ounce of juice from your amplifier to your speakers with StreetWires Super Cable twisted-construction copper wire.

Don't let low-grade speaker wire be the weak link in your car audio system. Get every ounce of juice from your amplifier to your speakers with StreetWires Super Cable twisted-construction copper wire.

The installation-friendly, non-gripping wire jacket is flexible yet rugged. You can keep your speakers' polarity straight with the positive markings and ribbed jacket on the positive wire. The lower the gauge, the thicker the wire — we recommend 16-gauge wire if you're connecting your speakers to a small or moderately powerful amp. Warranty: 1 year.

Nice, flexible wire. I like the fact that one side has little plus (+) signs all along the length so there is no question of polarity.

Nice cable

Written by: Dale from Southwest, VA on April 21, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is pretty nice wire. It is tin plated and solder sticks to the wire very good, but the insulation melts at a pretty low temperature making it a little difficult to solder. The insulation is not over sized so the cable is easy to run, unlike some speaker wire where the insulation is twice too big making it hard to run. The strands are very fine making the wire very flexible. The cable is all the same color but it is marked with ++++++ all the way down one cable making it easy to tell which is positive and negative.

Pros: Fine strands, very flexible.

Cons: Insulation melts at low temperature when soldering.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really didn't need these wires for the installation of my new speakers since I used the existing wires and plugs from my old speakers.....

Pros: They look like good quality wires....I'm sure they aren't the best but for the price I paid they're pretty good

Cons:

I imagine any new wire is nice and plyable like these are. You can't go wrong with the basics.

Pros: Soft and plyable. Blue hue for looks. Marked for plus & minus.

Cons: None.

StreetWires 16-gauge Super Cable™ Speaker Wire

Written by: Mike V from Bronx, NY on September 4, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good quality, easy to use. These wires do exactly what they are advertised to do. Good quality insulation, and the marking on the positive side of the wire made installation super easy. So far good sound quality. No issues installing or in performance. These wires were used to run a MTX Thunder amp to a pair of Alpine 3 way speakers.

Cons:

Good for what it is

Written by: Anonymous from San Luis Obispo on November 1, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is good speaker wire; high strand count means its flexible and can make sharp bends; strands are tinned meaning they won't corrode as easily as raw copper. Insulation is fine; one conductor is printed with small silver "+" signs which is a bit easier to spot then the old "ribbed" side of zip wire.

Cons:

Little pricey

Written by: Bruce from Twin cities, MN on June 7, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought only 20 ft. thinking it was enough. but I used it all and had to go else where to buy more because i needed it done that day. Nice color though.

Cons:

Buy twice as much

Written by: Doug from Lodi, Ohio on May 31, 2009

Not much to be said about speaker cables. I wish they sold this style twisted, but they worked great any way. The only thing I could say is that when you order, buy twice as much as you think you need. It goes fast. I have a Toyota Tacoma double cab, & i burned up 23 feet Just in the front doors.

Pros:

Cons:

Not AWG

Written by: Richard from Hawaii on April 22, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Absolutely rubbish. The wire is not AWG. The insulation is terribly thin. It took only one quick look to see this product is run-of-the-mill; does not even come close to meeting the standards of quality Crutchfield claims to have. I'll be sending my shipment back immediately.

Pros:

Cons:

Great looking, professional product.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very professional product. Will be replacing all my existing speaker wire in my car with this new Streetwire. Just easy to work with, great to have fresh new wires. I recommend these wires to anyone who is planning to put new speakers in.

Cons:

Use as Remote Turn-On

Written by: Mitch from Gaithersburg, MD on September 8, 2008

I buy this speaker cable and use it for my remote turn-on leads. It works great, and the blue is just the right color. It's a great alternative to using 8 gauge wire, since no one seems to sell single conductor 16 or 18 gauge wire that could be used for remote turn-on, and match the aesthetics of the other StreetWires wires I use.

Product Research

Features

Overview: StreetWires Super Cable is a high quality alternative to basic factory speaker wiring and offers sonic improvements as well as easier installation. The cable features  plus symbols (+) that run the entire length on one side of the cable so you can easily identify the positive or negative lead.

Fine-stranded high conductivity copper windings: High purity copper with very fine stranding provides lots of surface area for unrestricted power flow and maximum sound quality.

Blue Ultra-Flex jacketing: The blue jacket is tough and flexible so it can stand up to the harsh environment in your car.

Low profile parallel design: For easy installations, Super Cable's low profile shape makes runs in tight areas a breeze.

Zero-grip insulation: The insulation jacket doesn't stick to the wire so it can easily bend around tight corners to make installs smoother.
