StreetWires 12-gauge Ultra Cable™ Speaker Wire

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i got this product almost a year ago. at the time i thought like everyone else on here did. good looking cable fairly flexable.

well ,now a year later, i had to replace my amplifier and while doing so i got to see that my cable was changing color. usually this only happens when the cable is not oxygen free. the wire had become almost brittle. i have had amps pushing much more power, through much cheaper cable, then i am now i have never seen this happen. as long as it is oxygen free coper that is fairly insulated its about as good as its going to get. insure you get the right gauge. i just had to replace all of this wire in my truck. replacing it was much worse then running it the first time. i give it 2 stars becuase it looks good. well until it changes color.

Very Versatile and Great Sounding

This wire is a really good wire for the price. I used this wire throughout my whole system (6 6x9's at 100w RMS & 2 12" subs at 500W RMS Each). I have not noticed any distortion at all and they can handle power like none other. While stripping the wire is tough, it is well worth the effort. The thick insulation also discourages shorting out when you run the wire through the chassis of your car. A great buy at a great price!

This Wire Is Awesome!!!!!! I admit it is a little difficult to remove the outer shield but its well worth the time and effort...folks dont go with cheap thin unprotected little gold speakerwire just because its gold this wire will make ur subs sound louder then with crappy wire...20 stars

This is great for hooking up a sub woofer. I couldnt ask for better. the out side plastic was a little bit hard to remove but well worth it for the protection

Good wire & easy to pull. Removing the outer covering is a pain though.

I have used a lot of speaker wire in the past and this is a winner. The plastic coating is flexible and isn't all that hard to work with as long as you cut it carefully you should have no worries. With out a doubt this wire has a sweet look its better then just running loose wire from the amp to the subs, this makes it look more professional and keeps the subs sounding good.

simply awesome

Ok if you want a super stronge and good lookin wire this is it. yes the outer shielding is a little difficult to remove and yes it has alot of inner shielding too that you must remove when stripping the ends, but it worth it. Think about it do you want to take the chance of rubbing through the shielding or protection. I ran this wire all over my car for my install 14ga to the full range speakers and 12 to the infinity kappa perfect 12's. I even ran it through the door boots and I actually liked the fact it had the outer shield. I thought it made it easier. also protects the wire while fishing it throught tight spaces. My entire system is run with Streetwires and after using it I'd never use anything else.

OK, (in my humble opinion...)this is awsome wire. Yes, the cover tubing is a little bit of a pain to remove at the ends, but do you really want XXX watts getting loose in the interior of your vehicle while you are going down the highway at 70 MPH??? The blue and silver look great together. Because of how my amp is made, the power and ground wires are right beside the speaker wires and I get absolutely no noise just like the other guy said. Good stuff!

good wire

I use this wire to run my Pyramid 1600 to 2 12"s and it works great, the plastic coating is a little hard to work with but its real flexible. a great product, I suggest this product to anyone just starting out in the custom audio world or a little bit deeper

Streetwires 12-guage Ultra Cable Speaker Wire

Written By Jeff, St. Paul, MN on Tuesday, March 01, 2005

I am running the streetwires 12-gauge Ultra Cable from on MTX 421D Mono amplifier to a single 10" Infinity Kappa subwoofer. Pretty good cable. I recommend 12-guage for all amps powering subwoofers. It comes with an insane amount of shielding and protection. On one hand, it blocks virtually all noise and has extremely clean signal transfer, but on the other hand, the extra shielding makes it difficult to cut or install. It may be hard to run the wire through holes or tight spaces, but it still has pretty good flexability. I found it difficult to cut the wires because it is very thick and has an annoying protective layer around the twisted wire pairs. Very impressive product. I would recommend to everyone.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great product, good price. High quality tinned copper wire, unlike similar aluminum wires I have seen elsewhere. External sheath is tough and rugged which protects the wire, but sometimes must be removed where space is very tight (through protective boots in the doors) and removal requires a lot of care to protect the wires. Also makes stripping the wire a bit more difficult because it must be removed. A bit stiffer than untwisted, unsheathed wire, but still plenty flexible for most apps. Remove sheath for more flexibility. Looks nice, too! I'm using it to run power from my RF 501bd (#575501BD) to my Infinity Perfect 10.1 (#108PER101) and my system has never sounded better!
