About the Audiovox AVDBR1
You finally did it — you upgraded to the high-definition entertainment lifestyle. You're digging how your HDTV and Blu-ray player work together to deliver a theater-like experience at home. You love the incredible clarity and picture detail that you get from your movies and shows, and you really don't want to go back to your old non-HD ways. Here's the catch: your car can't deliver the same high-definition experience. Until now, that is.
Audiovox's AVDBR1 lets you play Blu-ray discs in your car, and features an HDMI output that'll deliver a full high-definition signal to your compatible screen. Like to tailgate before the big game with an HDTV in the back of your SUV or van? Bring along a few Blu-ray movies and wow your friends in the parking lot.
The AVDBR1 also offers a one-component solution for all your kids' media, with no need to buy multiple formats of the same movies. If your mobile video screen has no HDMI input, no problem — the composite video output works with most screens available.
The single-DIN sized (2" tall) player also works great with CDs, and offers flexible mounting options within your vehicle. A front-panel USB input lets you play video files from a thumb drive. Audiovox's included remote control puts you in command.

Features
Overview: The Audiovox AVDBR1 is an automotive Blu-ray player that can be added to your existing car stereo system which features an external monitor with composite video/stereo RCA inputs or an HDMI input.
Disc Compatibility: The Audiovox AVDBR1 Automotive Blu-ray Player features a slot-load disc mechanism and supports playback of Blu-ray, DVD, and CD discs.
Disc Type | Disc Description |
---|---|
Blu-ray | BD-ROM, BD-R, BD-RE |
DVD | DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW |
CD | CD-Audio, CD-R, CD-RW |
Note: Like DVD, BD uses region codes. The region code on your disc must match the region code on your player, otherwise the disc will not play. This unit is Blu-ray region A and DVD region 1. Blu-ray Disc uses the Advanced Access Content System (AACS) to prevent unauthorized recording of copyrighted material.
Dolby Digital/DTS: The AVDBR1 Automotive Blu-ray Player supports up to Dolby TrueHD and DTS 2.0.
JPEG Playback: This unit can play picture files stored on a Blu-ray, CD-R/CD-RW, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW disc; as well as a USB mass storage class device. Images can be viewed as a slide show, and be rotated or zoomed.
Off Insert w/ Auto Playback: When a disc is inserted with the power off, the unit will automatically power up and begin playback.
Auto Reload: If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust.
Screen Saver/Auto Off: When you leave the player in Stop mode for more than 20 minutes, the Screen Saver is activated (when turned-on in menu). At the end of 30 minutes without any user interaction, the player switches off automatically.
Mounting Options: The Audiovox Automotive Blu-ray Player can be installed under the seat, in the glove box, or in the trunk area. The Blu-ray player should be installed in a horizontal position with no more than a 30° angle. Four mounting screws are supplied to attach the two included metal L-brackets to the player for proper installation. Self-tapping screws (not supplied) are needed to secure the brackets and player in your vehicle.
Controls
Front-Panel Control: The Audiovox AVDBR1 Automotive Blu-ray Player features basic playback and menu controls along its front-panel. There is a Power, Play/Pause, Stop, Skip, Eject, Menu, and Enter button along the front-panel; as well as a 4-way arrow key.
IR Remote Control: The Audiovox Automotive Blu-ray Player comes with an IR remote control for wireless operation of the unit.
IR Receiver: Because the Audiovox AVDBR1 will be installed out-of-sight in most cases, an IR receiver is included. The 16' IR receiver cable is connected to the 3.5mm remote input on the rear-panel of the player. Make sure to install the IR receiver in a location where the infrared beam will not be blocked or interrupted when using the player's remote control.
TV Screen Settings: Depending on the type of monitor you have connected, you may want to adjust the screen size setting to 16:9 Full, 16:9 Pillarbox, 4:3 PanScan, or 4:3 Letterbox.
Fast Forward/Reverse: The Blu-ray player offers fast forward & reverse playback. Available speeds included 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x, and 32x.
Frame Advance: When a BD or DVD is in Pause mode, you can choose to advance the video one frame at a time.
Repeat (Repeat A-B): Use this feature to repeat a chapter or title on a BD/DVD. The A-B Repeat function performs a point-to-point repeat playback on a BD/DVD.
Zoom: You can choose to zoom in to a scene. The available zoom ratios are 2x, 3x, and 4x. When you are zoomed in, you can pan the image.
Angle: Press this button to access the camera angle function for multi-angle BD/DVD, if available on disc.
PIP (Picture-In-Picture): Some Blu-ray discs are compatible with Picture-In-Picture (PIP). In PIP mode, the primary video is displayed on the full screen, while the secondary video is displayed in a smaller window.
Dynamic Range: Dynamic Range allows you to make the loud parts of a movie's soundtrack quieter than they would be in the theater, without making the dialogue of the actors any quieter. The Dynamic Range feature can be set to Auto, On, or Off.
Parental Control: This player has a built-in parental control lock feature to prevent unauthorized persons from viewing restricted disc content. Parental Control allows you to limit the content of movie playback from Kid Safe to Adult. Once setup up, the Parental Lock is released only by entering a 4-digit pass-code.
Connections
Front-Panel USB Port: The Audiovox AVDBR1 Automotive Blu-ray Player features a front-panel USB (type-A) port for connection of USB mass storage class devices (up to 32GB).
