Make it better with Bluetooth

Make it better with Bluetooth

You've been trying to manage for a long time without it, but it's finally time to get Bluetooth in your car.

If your factory or aftermarket stereo has an AUX input, then Audiovox's BCS1 universal Bluetooth interface kit is a refreshingly straightforward solution. Mount the included multi-function button in a convenient spot in front of you since since the microphone is hidden in the button. Plug the BCS1's power plug into your car's 12-volt power adapter and its audio cable into your stereo's AUX input port, set the stereo source to AUX, pair the system with your phone, and you're ready for hands-free calls and music streaming. And if you're an iPhone® user, the BCS1 allows you to talk to Siri®.

Handy for frequent travelers

The multi-function button includes an adhesive back for more permanent installations, but they also include a vent clip mount if you want to swap the kit between cars. And the BCS1's power plug features an extra USB port if you need to charge your phone or tablet.

Features

Bluetooth Add-On Kit: The Audiovox BCS1 Bluetooth Car Kit lets you add Bluetooth hands-free calling and music streaming capabilities to many factory or aftermarket car stereos that feature an Aux input. Vehicles not equipped with auxiliary input can utilize one of the Audiovox Silverline DUO vehicle specific interface modules (sold separately) or the AUNI150PRO universal vehicle interface (sold separately).

Hands-Free Calling: The Audiovox BCS1 features a built-in microphone and answer/end button to receive and reject calls. Simply press the multi-function button located on the face of the BCS1 to pick-up or hang-up any incoming call. Speak into the built-in mic to carry on  your side of the conversation, while the other party is heard through your vehicle's speakers. An echo cancellation algorithm ensures excellent call quality.

Note: To make a call, you will still have to use your smartphone, unless you have an iPhone with Siri which allows voice dialing.

Wireless Music Streaming: Enjoy wireless music streaming from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone to your vehicle's factory or aftermarket radio with the BCS1. Stored music and music apps on your phone will be sent to your in-dash radio and heard through your vehicle's speakers. Control and song/artist information will still need to be done from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone. If you have an iPhone with Siri, you can use Siri to select a music track from your stored music.

Siri Compatible: When used with an Apple iPhone that features Siri, the BCS1 also allows the activation of Siri for voice assistance when making a call or selecting a music track.

USB Charging Port: There is a USB 2.1A charging port to charge your smartphone device while in the vehicle.

Connectivity: If the vehicle is equipped with an Aux input port, simply connect the device using the 3.5mm connector and power it thru the supplied USB/12-volt power adapter. If you are utilizing one of the Audiovox vehicle specific or universal interface modules, then plug the BCS1's 8-pin din-connector into the interface module's "iPod only" port.

Mounting Options: The Audiovox BCS1 snaps onto an air vent or any surface where it can face directly the driver of the vehicle. Included is a clip mount which allows attachment to a an air vent. Also included is a sticker mount which allows attachment to almost any smooth and flat surface on the dashboard.

Customer Q&A

9 questions already asked

Q
Would the Audiovox BCS1 work well in a 2007 GMC Envoy with stock audio system ?
george  Dec 23, 2016
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
I have a 2006 honda odyssey and my auxiliary input is in the third row arm rest. I'm not necessarily interested in the hands free calling feature, just want to wirelessly stream music. Thoughts?

A
things to remember this device requires a separate power source, it would make your music go through the vehicle's existing stereo and speakers as long as this aux inputs directly into the cars stereo system it should work
theodore  Nov 14, 2016
A
Works really well for this. Hands free not so much. Too much background noise from car for clear conversation, but for music via Bluetooth, works great.
wesley  Nov 08, 2016
A
I don't think you would have a problem as long as you keep the unit within the normal Bluetooth operating distance of your music source. Also, keep in mind you need a lighter socket to power the unit. Hope that helps.
john  Nov 07, 2016
A
Perfect. This is what you need. That's what I do. My AUX port is in my arm rest. Doesn't pick up my voice. I just use it for music. It's great.
chris  Nov 07, 2016
Q
Can this unit be installed in the arm rest for theft/stealth purposes and will it operate normally?
luis  May 30, 2016

A
The microphone won't work if it is stored in the armrest. Also, you won't be able to reach the button easily to push it, which defeats the purpose of the bluetooth button. If you are only using it for music and only connecting it to one device, it would be fine. You would need to hit the button if you switch devices.
cory  May 30, 2016
A
No, because it has indicator and answer buttons on the disc, and the microphone is there, too. However, it will install with adhesive and then looks like it belongs, and is a small disc, about 2-2.5 inches across. You can stash the phone wherever you want to, so it doesn't have to be visible. Works great, great price...I've given 2 as gifts for people who refuse to go smartphone??
martha  May 30, 2016
A
Hi Luis, It depends on the car and the armrest. I would imagine that you could do so, but I prefer to install things on the dash so that I do not have to look backward. The Bluetooth mic would have to be in a direct line from your mouth to work correctly. As it turns out, I did not use the BCS1, because it was not compatible with the head unit in my BMW. I ended up installing something similar to the Kenwood's KDC-BT762HD CD in my Honda Odyssey, and my 2002 BMW M3. It is a bit difficult to install the Kenwood unit in the BMW, but it did not have the Harmon Kardon system, so it was possible.
rob  May 30, 2016
A
Havent try it that way yet. But bluetooth suppose to work in that proximity despite being hidden or somehow blocked..
jose a  May 30, 2016
Q
How many Bluetooth devices can be connected at once? Can I connect both my iPhone & a Bluetooth garmin to pipe audio thru the car speakers? Thank you ??
julie renee  May 14, 2016
1 answer
A
IT appears to take input from one device only at a time. To me the garmin should stay on speaker as the instructions would keep interrupting the music.

Q
Instead of running this to the Aux port of a head unit, can I use this directly into an amp?
neilster  Feb 21, 2016
1 answer
A
While you could do that, the output from the adapter is a fixed level so you would not be able to adjust the volume. I hope that helps! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Q
Is there a way to change tracks from the unit without having to reach for the phone?
prem raj  Nov 07, 2015

A
Yes it functions just like the button on your headphones. 2 quick pushes and it advances to the next song. 1 push and it pauses. 3 quick pushes and it will rewind to the beginning of the song or to the previous song if you are at the beginning of a song.
timothy  Nov 11, 2015
A
This unit is simply a Bluetooth adapter the only controls on the device itself is a pwr switch
charles  Nov 08, 2015

Currently with my iPhone and my car, the answer is no. But I strongly recommend you call the company directly during their business hours. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. More importantly, the more they hear from us , the more likely they are to write an update to their software that you can transfer to your installed unit via laptop.
stu  Nov 08, 2015
A
You can change it using the actual clip on piece, but the phone is easiest.
chris  Nov 08, 2015
Q
Does this device mute your car music automatically when you receive a phone call?
bad dude  Oct 11, 2015

A
this may be specific to your car, but in the 2011 VW Routan minivan, you push "AUX" button and then device to answer. Changing source to AUX cuts off anything else that's on. If you're playing music thru your iPhone, it will stop and go to the phone call, an iPhone feature. Android probably does the same.
martha  Oct 12, 2015
A
I have to plug this into my stereo input jack so I have to have my stereo set to that input to hear anything through my car speakers. When set to "line in" and playing music on my phone through the device, it does interrupt the music to receive incoming calls.
wesley  Oct 11, 2015
A
Yes but only if you are listening to music through your phone. If you are listening to a cd or the fm radio it does not mute the music.
brian  Oct 11, 2015
Q
Does the Bluetooth 4.0 work with previous versions, I.e., Bluetooth 2.0 equipped phones?
martha  Sep 12, 2015

A
I have paired this item to an older (8 year old) LG cell phone with no problems. I don't know if the phone was Bluetooth 2.0 or 3.0 but I am positive it was not Bluetooth 4.0.
chester  Sep 14, 2015
A
Bluetooth itself is backwards compatible; so it should work with older devices
emilio  Sep 13, 2015
A
Yes with what I have seen and used between phones and cars with the device I can say yes so far.
jason  Sep 13, 2015
A
I believe it is backwards compatible with all Bluetooth devices, but cannot guarantee that. I've used 3.0 with no problems. It should work for you and Crutchfield's return policy is pretty good if it doesn't. I hope that helps you.
