Our take on the Code Alarm DLRKP

by Buck Pomerantz
Code Alarm

Code Alarm's DLRKP Door Lock Relay Kit provides a perfect solution when you're adding a remote door lock/unlock feature to a vehicle that has door lock circuits using 5-wire switching (polarity reversal), 3-wire switching (both positive-switched and negative-switched), and those circuits requiring a resistor — the kit works with Code Alarm products or almost any other security system. Two 15-amp fuses mount inside the module, freeing up the wire harnesses for a neater installation. For resistor-type door lock circuits, this kit includes onboard variable resistors, so you can set the proper ohmage exactly. Warranty: 1 year.

Note: You will not need this relay if you're using FLCAN or another data interface that controls the door locks in your particular vehicle.

If you know how to use a multimeter and have experience working with your vehicle's electrical system, you should be able to install this car security equipment. Overview: The Code Alarm DLRKP door lock module will allow you to interface to all typical door lock circuits using 5-wire switching (polarity reversal), 3-wire switching (both positive-switched and negative-switched), and those circuits requiring a resistor. The module has a built-in variable resistor (300Ω to 10,000Ω) and a pair of jumpers, which, when properly configured for your vehicle, will control the door lock and/or the vehicle factory alarm circuits.

Mounting Location: The control module is typically mounted under the dashboard, in a central location where you can access the door lock wires. In addition, the included 3-pin interconnect harness will be routed and plugged into the mating connector of the controlling Code Alarm keyless entry module or car alarm.

Systems Requiring an Actuator: Some vehicles (typically Mercedes, BMW, Volkswagen, Volvo, Saab and Subaru) use a central locking system that utilize a mechanical lever in the driver's door which manually moves an electric switch by the key outside or the lever inside, causing all other doors to lock or unlock, depending upon the direction the key is turned or the lever is moved. In these applications, a door lock actuator, such as the Code Alarm DA1 (220DA1), is required. The DA1 will replicate the action of the outside key or inside lever.
