Features

Head Rest Mount: The Audiovox AVXMTGHR1DA features a padded vehicle headrest with a beige vinyl cover. The beige cover can be switched out for the included grey and black vinyl covers. The headrest includes through-the-post wiring to make it easy to install the wire in your car seats. The headrest posts are approximately 5.5" in length, with adjustable spacing to accommodate your vehicle's headrest post opening (between approximately 5.125" and 7.3125"). The diameter of steel tubes are 10mm but can be adjusted between 12-17mm using the included post adapters. Once installed, the headrests can be tilted about 15° for the best viewing angle.

7" LCD Monitor: The Audiovox AVXMTGHR1DA features an integrated 7" widescreen LCD monitor with LED backlight technology. The LCD monitor has a resolution of 480 x 234 (336,960 total pixels). You can select either a 16:9 or 4:3 aspect ratio for each monitor. You can also adjust brightness, contrast, color, and tint.

Built-in DVD Player: The Audiovox headrest monitor features a built-in DVD player behind the flip-open LCD monitor. The unit will play back DVD-Video, DVD-R/RW, and DVD+R/RW, CD-Audio, and CD-R/RW (MP3 files) discs. The built-in DVD player provides a Parental Protection (G/PG/PG-13/R/NC17/Adult), so you can prevent playback of certain DVD content.

USB Port: The Audiovox AVXMTGHR1DA is equipped with a USB (type-A) port for playback of music (MP3) and photo (JPEG) files stored on a USB MSC (mass storage class) memory device formatted in FAT 16/32.

SD-Card Slot: The Audiovox headrest monitor with built-in DVD player features an SD-card slot for playback of music (MP3) and photo (JPEG) files  stored on a SD memory card (up to 4GB).

Dual AV Inputs: The Audiovox AVXMTGHR1DA is equipped with two AV inputs which will accept NTSC and PAL. The AVXMTGHR1DA is fitted with a front-panel 3.5mm AV input and comes with an AV 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter. The headrest monitor also features a rear-panel composite video/stereo RCA input. These AV inputs allow you to connect your portable MP3 player, ATSC tuner, and/or game console.

A/V Output: The AVXMTGHR1DA is equipped with a composite video/stereo RCA audio output which lets you connect the headrest monitor to your car stereo system.

Integrated FM Modulator: The Audiovox headrest monitor system is equipped with a built-in 16 channel frequency wireless FM modulator. This allows you to listen to the overhead monitor system through your vehicle's FM radio (without a wired connection). Channels include 87.7, 88.1, 88.5,  88.9, 105.7, 107.1, 107.5, and 107.9MHz.

Headphone Compatible: The Audiovox AVXMTGHR1DA features an integrated dual channel IR headphone transmitter to transmit audio to an optional set of wireless headphones (sold separately). The Audiovox overhead monitor system also is fitted with a 3.5mm headphone jack which allows the use of a wired set of headphones.

Audio Settings: The Sound Mode feature allows you to choose between stereo or virtual surround for the unit's audio output signal. You can then apply a preset soundfield effect to the unit's audio output signal; choose from Rock, Pop, Live, Dance, Techno, Classic, Soft, or None.

Remote Control: In addition to the unit's front-panel controls, the AVXMTGHR1DA comes supplied with a full function IR remote control for wireless operation of the headrest monitor.

Q
I do not want to hardwire these to my vehicle, but use the 100v plug. Is there an accessory t do that?
melanie  Nov 20, 2017
1 answer
A
No. There is not but when hard wired, they power off when you turn the car off. The only down side is you have to setup the 2nd one if you want to watch the same dvd.
gary  Nov 20, 2017
Q
Can I play content from a Pioneer unit (AVIC8200) using the HDMI connection or USB connection to these monitors? Or will the resolution not display properly?
danny  Jun 01, 2017
1 answer
A
Thanks for the question! Since the Pioneer AVIC-8200NEX features both HDMI & USB inputs instead of outputs, you wouldn't be able to use those connections to feed video to the Audiovox AVXMTGHR1D headrest monitor. For more details on how to connect the Pioneer unit to the headrest monitor, please feel free to get in touch with an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. They can offer more specific details along with recommendations on the cables you'll need for installation.

Thanks for your question. This is for one individual headrest monitor. Hope that helps.

Q
Do the units plug into auxiliary power ports found in most cars?
randy  Apr 26, 2016
1 answer
A
No, but very simple to buy a cigarette lighter plug from radio shack or other and wire it up. my Rav4 had a cig lighter receptacle down deep in the armrest compartment (?strange place) that made it a perfect place; fish the audiovox cables underneath and into it, and connect the cig lighter plug-voila~

Q
Does this unit come in different colors?
robert  Aug 19, 2015
6 answers
A
The unit comes with changeable "sleeves" in grey, black and tan. Our car is two-tone tan leather, so the tan looks great. We bought two so the kids can watch separately or view the same movie. They work great and there is no glare from any seat in the back. Hope this helps.
allison n  Aug 21, 2015
A
If you look unde "product highlights" it says "includes black, pewter, and shale headrest covers" It was easy to change ours to a different color.
kirby  Aug 20, 2015
A
It comes with three different covers, black, gray and a tan to match most interiors.
ryan  Aug 20, 2015
A

Q
Do these headrest tilt?
shelton  Apr 24, 2015
6 answers
A
The picture quality is great. No glare. No tilt, though.
allison n  Apr 29, 2015
A
They do tilt, but don't hold tilt position well. A little loose.
ben  Apr 28, 2015
A
No they don't
kirby  Apr 27, 2015
A
No, they do not tilt. Also, check your owner's manual to see if the headrests are part of the airbag system. We were unable to use them because the airbag system becomes inactive if you disconnect the original factory headrests.
marc  Apr 26, 2015
A
No they don't
ricky  Apr 26, 2015
A
No tilt capability with this.
ryan  Apr 26, 2015
Q
Will these unit pass a AV signal input through the AV out the the second unit, In other play head unit DVD on both headrests?
randy  Mar 21, 2015
3 answers
A
YOu can set them up where they can each play a DVD, play a DVD on the driver's side and view that movie on the passenger's side, or vice versa. These units have AV out and AV in so you just need to purchase one or two sets of rca cables.
robert  Apr 17, 2015
A
Yes it can
curtis  Mar 29, 2015
A
Yes. I connected the output of the "main" unit to the input on the second unit and this allows you to play the DVD on one unit and watch it on both units. You will need two male by male Philco (AV) connectors that they neither supply nor mention in their literature.
ricky  Mar 23, 2015
Q
Will these lock into place in the seat? In other words, can you raise the height of the headrest without them falling down against the seat?
frank j  Jan 27, 2015
2 answers
A
Yes they will.
ricky  Jan 28, 2015
A
You can adjust the seat up and down, but it does shake a little, but my 5year old loves it
ruben  Jan 28, 2015
Q
Will these fit in a 2012 Chrysler town and country? Looking to buy quickly.

A
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.

I need Black to match the color of my Acadia's interior. Are the included 'skins' attached over the Tan or do you remove the Tan and replace with Black?

A
Just remove the Tan and replace with Black.....VERY esy to do! It was easy to install as well.
kirby  Sep 02, 2014
A
Thanks guys.
ray  Aug 31, 2014
A
The optional covers are in the box and are exchanged by the buyer. Pretty simple to do. They fit snugly and look factory once installed. BTW, I installed two in my wife's Durango and work very well.
blake  Aug 31, 2014
A
You remove the tan and install the black. It's a very simple process. Just follow the instructions included.
ricky  Aug 30, 2014
Q
How are you hooking up the power to these headrest units?
gracian  Apr 15, 2014
1 answer
A
I ran all of the cables to the extra space in and around the center console. In the area was a cigarette lighter type power socket for cell phones chargers etc. I used a pair of "scotch lock" connectors to tap the power off of the power outlet wires. I also used the area to connect the two units to each other enabling one unit to feed audio/video to both headrests, or to use each unit independently. I found the install fairly simple, and the fuse for the power outlet was more than able to handle the power to everything.
blake  Apr 16, 2014
Q
Do these units have speakers or do you have to use headphones or the dm modulator?
pleasehelp  Mar 23, 2014
2 answers
A
I had them installed so you can use A/V option to listen through the car speakers or you can use the wireless headphones.
gary  Nov 20, 2017
A
You will need headphones as there are no speakers.
kirby  Mar 24, 2014
Q
Do these video players have the ability to turn off and on automatically with the car?
mark  Feb 20, 2014
3 answers
A
If you hardwire it, they will turn off when you turn off the car. When you turn the car back on, you have to hit the dvd headrest power button. If you want to watch the same thing on the other headrest, you have to go into settings every time. Having to do that is kind of annoying. I've tried several dvd headrests and these are the best for quality and looks. I highly recommend getting the protection plan because i've Had 2 that malfunctioned just after the 1 year manufacturing warranty.
gary  Nov 20, 2017
A
We did not wire our to do this. However, if the unit was on and playing when the car was stopped, the movie will pick back up right where it left off.
allison n  Aug 21, 2015
A
If they are wired correctly they will.
christopher  Feb 21, 2014
Q
If I purchase 2, will they link to play the same content?
jessica  Jan 28, 2014
4 answers
A
The only problem is the slave has to be setup every time to mirror the other headrest. I wish the setting stayed the same but it loses its setting once car is turned off then on again. Otherwise, it is a great choice. I highly recommend buying the extended warranty because one of mine quit working just after the manufacturing 1 year warranty. Definitely worth the money.
gary  Nov 20, 2017
A
you only need 1 cable; i made the drivers seat player be the master, connected the output to the input of the passenger unit, so the passenger is the slave.
gary b  Apr 29, 2016
A
The unit has Audio/Video out and Audio/Video in. You can link the two that way but would have to purchase separate RCA cables to do so.
matthew  Jan 28, 2014
A
We only purchased one of them but when we installed it, all of the cables are included to hook them up together. If I understood the instructions clearly, they would play both seperately or simultaneously. It was really easy to install in a 2005 Avalanche too. GOOD LUCK!
kirby  Jan 28, 2014
Q
Will or can this unit get video signal from factory head unit?
mike  Dec 19, 2013
3 answers
A
Yes. It can as long as it is wired correctly.
gary  Nov 20, 2017
A
Check the specifications. In the "output" section, look for terms like "video output" or "AV" output.
marques  Dec 31, 2013
A
Yes it can
