Features

Overview: The SIRIUS Satellite Radio SCH2P Home Tuner includes an outdoor antenna, 2-way splitter, audio cable, and rack mounting hardware. The SiriusConnect SCH2P satellite radio tuner allows you to receive, control, and play SIRIUS satellite programming from your SIRIUS-ready or SAT Radio-ready home receiver. Its also compatible with home receivers that feature an RS-232 port or Infrared input.

SIRIUS Satellite Radio: SIRIUS Satellite Radio has over 120 channels of entertainment and music. In addition to the more than 65 original channels of commercial-free, SIRIUS offers more than 55 channels of sports, news, and entertainment. SIRIUS 1st Traffic and Weather also provides continuous local weather and traffic reports for 20 major U.S. cities. A subscription is required to enjoy SIRIUS Satellite Radio programming.

Compatibility: This SiriusConnect tuner can be connected to your audio system using either the SiriusConnect DIN port, the RS-232 port, or by using the infrared connector. RS-232 and IR connection will also require an analog stereo RCA output or optical digital output.

  • 8-Pin DIN (SiriusConnect): This connection is typically used for SIRIUS-ready or SAT Radio-ready receivers. This connection provides control and audio transfer.
  • RS-232: This control connection is typically used by high-end multi-room audio/video receivers. You will also need to connect either the analog RCA output or optical digital output to your A/V receiver.
  • Infrared (3.5mm): This connection is typically used in older receivers which use an IR blaster to control the SIRIUS tuner. Instead of using the IR blaster, the IR signal can be hard-wired directly into this 3.5mm connection. This type of connection only supports one-way control with no metadata feedback available. You will also need to connect either the analog RCA output or optical digital output to your A/V receiver.

Display: The SIRIUS SCH2P SiriusConnect home tuner features blue front-panel display. The unit's display provides channel number, standby indicator, satellite signal strength meter and terrestrial signal strength meter.

Controls: The SIRIUS SCH2P SiriusConnect home tuner features a front-panel rotary knob for changing SIRIUS satellite radio channels. There is also a On/Off switch on the rear-panel of the home tuner. In addition, there is a control switch to select between RS232, 8-PIN DIN, or Infrared connection.

Connections: The SiriusConnect SCH2P home tuner features an F-type threaded coax antenna connector, stereo RCA output, optical digital output, RS232 port, 8-PIN connector, and a 3.5mm IR input on the rear-panel.

Outdoor Antenna: The SiriusConnect home tuner comes with an outdoor antenna and mounting hardware to mount the antenna outdoors to a wall, roof, or mast. The antenna features an adjustable arm to angle the antenna for better reception. The antenna connects to the SiriusConnect home tuner via an RG-6 cable (up to 150-feet, the RG-6 cable is not provided). The SCH2P also includes a 2-way splitter if you are going to install more than one tuner to the outdoor antenna.

Rack Mountable: The SCH2P SiriusConnect home tuner comes with rack mounting hardware to install the unit in your rack system. The unit also features 4 rubber feet so you can place securely on a shelf or other flat surface.

Power Supply: The SCH2P operates off of standard household current. The unit comes with a 6.0' detachable AC power cord to plug into a wall-outlet.

Works Excellent! - You do not need a Sirius Receiver

Written By Len B., Pennsylvania on Tuesday, May 27, 2014
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tuner works excellently so far. It gets a great strong signal and comes with all accessories you need except the coaxial cable. While everyone says you need a sirius compatible receiver, this is not true, it will work with any receiver, however, the readout just shows the channel and you have to manually turn the dial to change stations. If you don't want to invest in a new sirius receiver, this will work, but you won't get the benefits of a remote control or seeing the artist/song display on the tuner.
Pros:
Strong signal, comes with antenna.
Cons:
Needs a sirius tuner to get artist/song readout and remote control.

Sirius SCH2P Home Tuner

Written By yzergod, Durango, CO on Sunday, July 28, 2013
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This home tuner is hands down better than the SCH1 mini home tuner! I've gone through 3 of those as they seem to have problems burning out with any kind of power spike. Since I live in an area prone to lightning storms, even high end surge protectors have not been able to keep the SCH1 from failing. This new tuner I had rushed to me from Crutchfield not only looks good with my other stereo components, it (brightly) displays the current channel and signal strength. My only gripe would be that I purchased an "open box" unit that came missing a couple pieces of hardware and a coax cable. I had to buy a cable at my local building supply, which ended up making my end total being the same as a new unit.
Pros:
Well build, good looking unit. Seems to bring in the channels better than any of the smaller units. Matches my other stereo components well.
Cons:
Smaller than other stereo components across the face. Wish there was a way to dim the display lights. Even when powered off, the power button emits a blue led light that is brighter than any night-light I've ever seen. Sometimes the unit loses the channel I was on upon powering up, which defaults back to the sample channel (184). The unit doesn't enterface with my Pioneer "Sirius ready" amp in that the unit will say and play one channel while the Pioneer will display a different channel.

Superior to SCC1 tuner

Written By Larry T., Stony Brook, N.Y. on Saturday, September 22, 2012
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Originally bought the SCC-1 tuner which only lasted 3 months. The SCH2P tuner is a superior product, installed easily, the 8 pin din connection worked beautifully with my Denon receiver. Turns on and off with receiver and tracts channels when changed at the receiver. Recoommended.

works with any receiver

Written By Anonymous, allentown pa on Monday, October 03, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

ok so i bought this hoping that it would work on a NON sat. ready receiver. Yep it does. after reading the install directions online I was 95 % sure it would work with my Very old receiver. all you need is a RCA input and your good. Even if you call and ask Crutchfeild they will tell you you need a sat ready radio to work it. The only downfall of doing this with an older receiver is to change the channels on the sirius unit. you have to roll the dial. that takes a few seconds to go from 101 down to 9 but better than buying another receiver.

SiriusConnect™ SCH2P Home Pro Tuner

Written By SidG, Central, MD on Saturday, April 16, 2011
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Product well-packed with all parts, instructions included.
Of course, you have to pick up RG-6 cable to suit your needs. (50' worked for
me.)
Mounted on outside as per instructions. Hooked up to Onkyo Sirius-XM ready
receiver and got a max signal. (Had to read Onkyo manual for Sat. Radio
hookups)
Nice sounds with great commercial-free
programming choices.
Crutchfiled delivers value and quickly!

Happy Listening!

Sirius Connect SCH2P

Written By Anonymous, Memphis, TN on Saturday, June 12, 2010
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was the first product I have purchased from Crutchfiled. Overall customer experience was outstanding.
The Sirius Connect SCH2P integrates well with my Sirius ready Yamaha V863. No compatibility issues connecting with the 8-Pin DIN. Installation was a breeze. All Sirius home products should have the ability to connect to the satellite antenna with a coax cable.
This model does give one the option to connect to a receiver through 8-Pin DIN, RCA, and Optic. This is suppose to be a professionally installed product, I think this product is very easy to install with little effort.

1 question already asked

Can you hook up to an integrated amp the same way a separate am\fm tuner hooks up? [ Steve  Jan 03, 2014 ]
2 answers
  • I do not know for sure. I have a Marantz receiver that is "Sirius ready" and connected the SCH2P Tuner to it using the 8-PIN DIN port. I am looking through the SCH2P manual. According to it, you may be able to use the Infrared (IR) output connector on the SCH2P and the IR connector of your receiver and then use RCA outputs on the SCH2P for audio. I hope this helps. Have you tried downloading the manual for the SCH2P? The connection info. is on Pages 26 & 27. [ KEN   Jan 05, 2014 ]
  • It's been a while that I installed this unit, if I remember correctly it has a line output presented with RCA type connectors. Very simple and easy to install but yes, you will need an amp (either pre-amp, integrated or otherwise). [ DOUG   Jan 04, 2014 ]
