SiriusXM SXHA1

Overview

Our take on the SiriusXM SXHA1

This antenna ensures that you get the best possible satellite radio reception for your Dock & Play radio or SiriusXM-ready home receiver. The indoor antennas included with those products can't always do the job out in the rain, sleet & snow.

This antenna ensures that you get the best possible satellite radio reception for your Dock & Play radio or SiriusXM-ready home receiver. The indoor antennas included with those products can't always do the job out in the rain, sleet & snow.

You can use the supplied bracket to mount this all-weather antenna on an exterior wall, your roof, or your boat's mast. The package comes with mounting hardware for the antenna and an adapter cable that hooks into your player's home dock. Then you can put the antenna anywhere within 150' of your radio using standard RG-6 indoor/outdoor cable.

I mounted this antenna on a south facing roof. It took about 300 ft of RG6 cables and two amplifiers (purchased elsewhere) to get from the roof mount to the location of my XM radio. Once everything was installed, the radio is great. No more losses caused by the trees leafing out in the spring.

XM outdoor antenna

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I mounted this antenna on a south facing roof. It took about 300 ft of RG6 cables and two amplifiers (purchased elsewhere) to get from the roof mount to the location of my XM radio. Once everything was installed, the radio is great. No more losses caused by the trees leafing out in the spring.

Pros: Works as it is supposed to work.

Cons: The cable that connects from the RG6 to the radio is not very robust. It fits very tightly into the radio base. When removing it, the cable pulled out of the metal portion of the fitting. Very difficult to push back in and no way to secure it after it comes out. The indoor antenna that came with the radio has a 90-deg connector, which is a much more robust design.

This was a great item. I installed and got 3 bars on the first try (better than the 2 bars with the original antenna). Really like the product and the support that is available, if needed.

Pros: All hardware, except coax, was included. Easy to install instructions. Even though it was on back order with no date for shipping, I received it within a week.

Cons:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The reception not only improved the signal strength but the quality of the sound because the signal strength was so much better than I was able to get from an indoor antenna.

Pros: Everything in the box needed to install and the instruction were clear.

Cons: None

After 'Surviving' three radios using the interior antennas which signal was obstructed by dense trees and constantly fading in and out, I ordered the exterior antenna. Easy installation and immediately the signal strength was almost 80% across the indicator bar and every one of my music stations sounded LOUD N CLEAR. 150% satisfied. Ozzie

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a cabin located in the base of a mountain range, the only possible radio reception is XM service and the standard antenna would work at times but if a cloudy day reception would fade in and out. I purchased this unit as a possible upgrade to the stock window mount antenna and to hopefully solve my reception issues. After this simple installation process, I plugged in my head unit and the stations populated within seconds. Used the unit throughout the entire Memorial Day weekend with no reception issues at all!! Very satisfied and would recommend to anyone with reception issues.

Pros: Works Great!! Cant be more happy with the results!!

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great idea, for sure. However, I purchased this, along with 2 signal splitters, with the belief that I could put it in line with my cable service and receive a signal. That didn't happen. I connected it, as instructed, but the tuner unit received no signal from it. My TV and internet signal came through just fine, but not the SiriusXM signal. I connected direct, to confirm that the antenna was not defective, and it was able to detect it that way. However, even when run directly without a splitter through the house, the tuner could not detect it. I cannot imagine that it's traveling more than the specified limit of 150 feet, so what's the deal? I still have not gotten it to work, but I will see if there is some way to establish a new direct connection, before I return it for a refund. UPDATED 2/27/13: While I was led to believe that this could be connected to my existing TV cable via splitters, it simply did not work. However, once I ran a dedicated cable, it worked just fine. It's great to have SiriusXM in the home!

Pros: Looks like a great idea UPDATED 2/27/13: Easy to install

Cons: Does not work with existing wiring, as claimed UPDATED 2/27/13: Must run dedicated cable.

Solar Satellite Radio Enjoyment

Written by: RalphS from Baja California on November 17, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The installation time was under fifteen minutes from opening the box to enjoying perfect music. Our abode is in such a remote part of Baja California that there isn't an AM or FM signal to use. In fact, all of our electricity is from our solar panels, so this gives us a real connection to home music and news.

Pros: The antennae kit is complete and even includes the battery for the remote.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

it is lite weight, the only problem/complaint i have is that one of its multi-mounting does NOT include mounting to a metal fence railing such as is found at an apartment complex.....i ended up reversing the clamps and adding my own washers/spacersin order to keep things tight...good news though...some online companies sell a round to flat cable adapter in order to get the cable under the door or thru the window

Great Choice

Written by: Joe S from Sterling, VA on May 20, 2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Solidly built, includes mounting hardware for every method you could possibly want from pole mount to solid surface. Incredibly easy to set up, got solid 3-bar signals on the first attempt with no adjustments - original Sirius antenna delivered two bars at best, and usually one (in same installation location). Uses standard coax for connectivity and includes a coax to Sirius adapter for easy connection to your receiver.

Pros: Very easy to set up, uses standard coax connections so you can use existing cable runs and wall-entry paths if they already exist. Doesn't force you to rely on the flimsy, easily nicked cable on most Sirius antennas.

Cons: None so far.

Why did you buy this?

This looked like a better way to permanently install a satellite mount with less wires laying on the floor. [ Ignacio  Apr 22, 2016 ]
Just by browsing your site after I received your catalog/flier. My wife wanted a pair of headphones you had advertised and while ordering I saw this and decided to give it a try. [ FIELDS  Mar 15, 2016 ]

2 questions already asked

I've about 100 feet of cable with no notable problem. Recently I've had some moisture problems but I xpect a good cleaning and resealing the cable connector will resolve that problem. My antenna is on the north side of the house so it's in the shade most of the time. It's been in use for 2 years with limited maintenance, so some TLC is due. Good luck and good listening!!!!! [ AL  May 02, 2016 ]
Yes! I actually connected the cable that the antenna came with to a 50 FT cable. Reception was never better [ ANTHONY F  Apr 29, 2016 ]
Yes, it works great! No worries at all. [ Terry  Apr 29, 2016 ]
Hi Ken, We have installed 8 to 10 of these and have not heard of any issues. Keep in mind that we are carful to install them in an area of best signal possible. FYI I am in the Maine and NH area. [ ROBERT  Mar 04, 2015 ]
I am 20 miles from Boston and we have lots of snow, I have not lost the signal once. Works great. [ LLOYD  Feb 19, 2015 ]
The unit is on the south facing side of my home. It's been thru two fairly nasty winters without a problem. Reception is always great. [ CHARLES  Feb 19, 2015 ]
Yes sometimes it does, however I do live in a high snowfall area (north of Chicago) rather than a lot of ice. P Gray [ Peggy  Feb 19, 2015 ]
Yes, snow/ice will lay on the antenna, but does not affect the signal, at least it does not for me. In fact the position of the satellite in orbit and cloud cover seem to effect the signal strength more. From time to time i may have to tweak the position of it slightly to get better reception, so it may not be a set-and-forget placement. And when i say it accumulates, i am not talking it being in the kind of snow depth Boston has had this winter. [ ROBERT L  Feb 19, 2015 ]
Hello K: I appreciate your question. Unfortunately I can't help with an answer for two reasons; 1.) I have not installed it outside. 2.) Believe it or not it's still in the box. My plan however was to install it in the attic as the directions indicate can be successfully done. I purchased this just prior to doing some major home remodeling and have simply not implemented this piece of equipment as yet. Sounds dumb, but that's the fact. I hope it will work as advertised when I am ready to install it. Hopefully someone else will be able to give you an answer. [ DAVID J  Feb 19, 2015 ]
I live in Georgia, and don't get much snow and ice ... [ HENRY M  Feb 19, 2015 ]
