NHT's architectural series of in-wall and in-ceiling speakers deliver 25 years of great audio know-how right where you want it. The iC1 teams a 1" silk dome tweeter and a 6-1/2" woofer in a slim, circular design that mounts discreetly in your ceiling. But the proof's in the listening. The iC1 brings high-fidelity sound to places where traditional free-standing speakers can't go or would simply be in the way. With terrific off-axis performance, NHT speakers offer the flexibility to sound great even when you're not sitting directly underneath them. For optimal performance, give them plenty of clean power, and you'll be rewarded with rich sonic goodness.
You'll love the design details of these NHTs. Their outstanding drivers deliver wide frequency response and are mounted securely in a low-resonance frame. Moisture-resistant materials and a gasketed mounting ring let you install these speakers in any room in the house, including kitchen and bath, worry-free. The spring-loaded mounting cams help ensure that the iC1s will install firmly without coming loose or cracking the surrounding drywall over time, so you can expect years of fine performance. Just prepare the opening in your ceiling and run UL-rated wiring from your receiver and you can secure this flush-mount speaker with a few turns of a screwdriver. And you can paint the white matte grilles to match any décor.
An optional iCB6 in-ceiling bracket is recommended for installing the iC1 in a home with new construction.

Features and Specs

|Labor Warranty||5 Years|
Overview: The NHT iC1 is NHT's most affordable in-ceiling loudspeaker, useful for almost any distributed sound application in home, office or commercial installations. It is suitable for bedrooms, hallways, entry ways, waiting rooms and secondary rooms where high quality sound is desired.
2-Way Coaxial Design: The iC1 is a very high quality 2-way system, employing a 6.5" long-throw polypropylene woofer with rubber surround and a coaxially mounted 1" silk soft-dome tweeter, managed by a very high quality 2nd order crossover network (2.2kHz, 18dB/oct high-pass, 12dB/oct low-pass).
Moisture Resistant: The driver units are moisture resistant, the frame is polypropylene, all the hardware is stainless steel, and the mounting lip has a foam gasket. This allows the in-ceiling speaker to be installed in moisture prone interior environments, such as bathrooms, indoor swimming pools, and sauna rooms.
Note: Installation in outdoor locations is not recommended.
Spring Clip Terminals: The in-ceiling speaker features gold-plated, spring-clip terminals which will maintain contact with the speaker wire over the life of the installation.
Note: 16-AWG, 2-conductor in-ceiling speaker wire is recommended for runs of 10 feet or less, with heavier gauge cable used for longer runs.
Dog-Ear Clamping System: The NHT iC1 in-ceiling speaker has a fail-proof, 4-point spring-loaded, dog ear clamping system that grabs the ceiling's surface with integrity and simplicity, even when the mounting surface is uneven. The spring-loaded clamps maintain the bezel's pressure and seal with the ceiling surface and therefore eliminates the speaker from coming loose and paint lines from cracking over the life of the installation. This feature is important because typical sheetrock compresses when clamped; non-spring loaded, rigid clamping systems will become loose over time and begin to vibrate and the air seal can leak causing the speaker to lose bass and crack the paint line.
Note: NHT in-ceiling loudspeakers are designed for in-ceiling installation between standard wood joists. The four spring-loaded dog ear clamps can accommodate ceilings 0.25" to 1.5" thick.
Cut-Out Template: A convenient cardboard template for the in-ceiling speaker's cutout is included to make installation location and retrofit cutting easier.
Paintable: The iC1 is painted with a neutral white primer and may be painted to match your ceiling decor with typical latex paints. A convenient paint shield is included to protect the drive units in the speaker frame. Take care not to cover the grille's tiny perforated holes, which are essential to sound performance.
Note: Do not attempt to paint the black baffle surface (which houses the drivers). Its black finish prevents the speaker's black drivers from being visible once the grille is attached.
New Construction Bracket (optional): For new construction, NHT makes the ICB6 (228ICB6, sold separately); a new construction framing bracket which lets you accurately place the iC1 in-ceiling speakers location during the framing stages of construction much like a recessed lighting fixture. The iCB6 provides a lip that the sheetrock or wall finishing crew uses to mount the NHT iC1, once the ceiling is installed.
Note: The iCB6 is not required for retrofit installations in existing ceilings.
