Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Accessories Our take on the MTX BS212S by Dominic Devito Why do I need an enclosure? An enclosure is simply the box that houses your sub; sealed and ported enclosures are the most popular types. A sealed enclosure is usually smaller in size, sacrificing a little volume level to deliver more accurate bass. The ported enclosure features a vent which allows bass waves to escape from behind the mounted sub, augmenting the bass coming off the front of the sub. Ported boxes are louder, bigger, and a little less accurate. Every sub works best in the size and type of enclosure that's recommended by the manufacturer, so make sure you match your sub with the right box. MTX's heavy-duty dual 12" unloaded enclosure combines with your 12" subs to bring out powerful bass with deadly accuracy. Its sealed design makes for tight low notes, while keeping the overall size of the box down so you can fit it into more spaces. Each chamber features an internal volume of one cubic foot. Tough 5/8" medium-density fiberboard construction ensures long life from this robust enclosure. The gray carpet covering protects your vehicle's interior from nicks and scrapes. Mount two compatible subs, secure the box in your trunk or cargo area, wire up the proper power source, and get going with some bass for the road. The two internal chambers are separated by an airtight divider; each has an internal volume of 1.0 cu. ft. Materials: The box is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard). MDF resists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities. Design: The side panels of the box are recessed 1/2". The enclosure is covered with durable gray carpet. Binding Posts: Each chamber has a set of spring loaded binding post speaker terminals located on the back side of the enclosure. They will accept single and dual banana plugs, pin connectors, or bare wire up to 10 gauge. The terminals on the inside of the box are 0.205" male quick slide terminals. No wire is included to connect the subwoofers to the speaker terminals. Brackets: Brackets (not included, item number 125B702KIT) are recommended for more secure mounting. Grille: Speaker grilles (not included) are recommended to protect your woofers. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. The box works well with my two Kenwood KFC-W3012 12" subs powered by a Kenwood KAC-8104D 500W x 1 amplifier. It produces nice tight bass, and is easy to install the subs into. The only problem i had with it was that it was damaged when i received it, it looked like somebody had shoved a crowbar through it, but i sealed it back up and now it looks and performs just fine. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Like many others, I purchased a bass package and this box was included... I am running the following setup: 1 x Kenwood KAC-8104D 2 x Kenwood KFC-W3012 Overall this setup is great! This is the first set of subs that I have run in any of my cars. The bass is good and the box performs well. The install was easy, although the carpet seems to be peeling on a few corners of the box. After doing a few hours of research I found that a cubed box is not the greatest, which this one is. Also this box has only 1 cu. ft. of space per chamber, while the subs recommend 1.25 cu. ft. I packed each chamber with a pound of polyester, and they sound good. Was this review helpful?
