Overview

Our take on the MTX Amplified ThunderForms

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. But with custom ThunderForm enclosures, you can fill the nooks and crannies of your car, truck, or SUV with low tones that stand out.

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. But with custom ThunderForm enclosures, you can fill the nooks and crannies of your car, truck, or SUV with low tones that stand out.

MTX engineers evaluate the "sonic signatures" of top-selling vehicles so they can design ThunderForms as custom acoustic matches. With "rotational molding," MTX ensures that each ThunderForm fits and blends inconspicuously into your vehicle. They're made of high-density polyethylene resin to curb resonances and deliver bass that's tight, hard-hitting, and way down low. The enclosure is seamless and airtight, with the correct internal volume to yield optimum bass response from the subwoofers.

This molded MTX ThunderForm comes loaded with a premium-quality 10" Terminator sub, with a specially-designed amp that puts out 200 watts of power. It mounts under the rear seat on the driver's side of the 1988-06 GM/Chevrolet Extended Cab truck, with the woofer firing downward. It bolts to the floor of the vehicle. There is no loss of leg room and the factory jack kit is not disturbed. Hardware is included.

Product Highlights:

  • variable low-pass filter (50-150 Hz at 12 dB per octave)

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The lack of information that was given on the install. Which I considered no information. That 2 page packet was not instructions. I dont know if it is MTX or Crutchfield's fault but someone needs to review the thunderform sub enclosure and come up with proper instructions. I was basicly told to make it work. Because Crutchfield tech support had no information on it. Which is plain unacceptable in my opinion.

Pros: sounds great. and plenty of power for the size. ( makes the cab of my truck shake when its about half volume.)

Cons: basically no instructions. had to modify all parts that were included to make it fit in my truck. fitment issue with the rear back seat bolt on the floor. no information from any form or site on how to make it fit. had to come up with a solution that made it work.
