Can't find your exact car?

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. But with custom ThunderForm enclosures, you can fill the nooks and crannies of your car, truck, or SUV with low tones that stand out.

MTX engineers evaluate the "sonic signatures" of top-selling vehicles so they can design ThunderForms as custom acoustic matches. With "rotational molding," MTX ensures that each ThunderForm fits and blends inconspicuously into your vehicle. They're made of high-density polyethylene resin to curb resonances and deliver bass that's tight, hard-hitting, and way down low. The enclosure is seamless and airtight, with the correct internal volume to yield optimum bass response from the subwoofers.

This molded MTX ThunderForm comes loaded with one premium-quality 10" Terminator subwoofer and powered by a specially-designed 200-watt mono amp. It mounts behind the rear seat on the driver's side of your 2002-04 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab pickup. When installed, the seat bottom will not flip up. Hardware is included.

Product Highlights:

  • high-density polyethylene enclosure
  • Terminator 10" subwoofer
  • built-in 200-watt RMS amplifier
  • variable low-pass filter (50-150 Hz at 12 dB per octave)
  • frequency response 50-150 Hz
  • warranty: 5 years (free repair or replacement for 2 years, prorated replacement for years 3 through 5)
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Vehicle-specific enclosures with subs? Say what?

Instead of the usual sub in a box, the manufacturer creates a molded enclosure that fits perfectly into a convenient spot in your specific vehicle, housing a high-quality sub. Some enclosures even include a built-in amp, for the ultimate in stealth bass. The advantages? You don't lose much space (if any), your sub is perfectly matched to its enclosure, and your enclosure has a factory look that won't tell potential thieves you have an awesome sound system. Doesn't get better than that.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It was a direct fit to my 02 Dakota quad cab. The instructions were a little bland and generic for such a custom enclosure but they get the job done. Very solid bass on low levels sound is good without components rattling. High volume bass is very good as well without hurting a stock battery. Friends reaction are priceless when it i turn it up and the are sitting in that seat. The sub woofer control knob it comes with is an awesome feature to help monitor and control the sub woofer once tuned and in place. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and when it dies i will probably replace the components to keep this thing pumpin'.

Pros: Direct fit, Great sound, Good Volume, Control Knob

Cons: Bland Instructions

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was very skeptical that this "little" sub would be anything worth the price I paid...and I'm glad I was wrong. Easy installation, well designed packaging and good performance make this one of the best investments in car stereo I ever made.

Pros: Enough bass to really liven up the music, but without attracting attention. Clean and tight as well. Easy install.

Cons: None.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit won't rattle your windows like a lot of the customs subs will but considering it's size restrictions and the fact that it's designed to fit in a small space it is amazing the sound it produces. I installed this unit to compliment a Kenwood head unit, Infinity two ways in the rear doors and Infinity components in the front along with a 60W X 4 Kenwood amplifier. I was very pleased with the increased bass after installing the sub. I would recommend this to anybody that wants to keep the rear seating in the back of an older Dakota Quad Cab intact and add some bass.

Pros: Relatively easy install. Simply run the wiring, remove the seat back on the driver's side rear, attach the wiring, slide between the seat frame and bolt the seat back in place. Everything I needed to install the unit was provided by MTX and Crutchfield.

Cons: The rear driver's side will no longer fold up after the install.

hidden speaker with big sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my 04 dakota quad cab.The sub sounds great and is hidden away so its not a target. I have polk speakers up front and kenwoods in the rear doors. It sounds fantastic with the new kenwood head unit. I cant believe how much music I have on a tiny 64gb thumbdrive.

Pros: Easy to set up and install with large sound from a space saving package. I can still lift up the seat on the passenger side.

Cons: The wiring diagram had the wrong colors and I had to take the doors apart to confirm the correct rear speaker colors. Also the first sub was blown and sounded terrible, thankfully Crutchfield tech support sent me out a replacement within a week and it was just a matter of plugging it into the existing wires I ran.

big bass in a little space

2003 Dodge Dakota
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my '03 Dakota Quad Cab (JVC Arsenal KDA735BT head unit - Polk DXi650 door speakers hooked to Alpine MRP-F300 amp - Sound Acoustiks 1.5farad capacitor - all Kicker wires & patch cables - gold plated connections). The price isn't cheap, but it is well worth it if you want good, clean bass without sacrificing any space, or factory appearance, in the interior. It comes with a bass level control switch (can mount just about anywhere), which makes it easy to change the amount of bass without taking seatback off to adjust. (Tip--->Polk Audio DXi650 speakers are the perfect compliment to the Thunderform. They come wtih a mounting plate that gives you 3/16" clearance from window inside door & sits perfectly against door panel.) The install went quickly with the exception of the wire harness. The wires pull out of the harness rather easily, because the wires are not crimped well in harness. Take the time to pull harsness apart & crimp the terminals properly to avoid wires detaching. The interior trim pieces remove easily, making it real easy to run the wiring.

Pros: BASS!!! - Turns the back seat into a massage chair - Looks like it's factory installed

Cons: Wires not crimped well in harness (Take the time to pull harsness apart & crimp the terminals properly to avoid wires detaching).
