MTX Amplified ThunderForms

Overview

Our take on the MTX Amplified ThunderForms

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. But with custom ThunderForm enclosures, you can fill the nooks and crannies of your car, truck, or SUV with low tones that stand out.

Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. But with custom ThunderForm enclosures, you can fill the nooks and crannies of your car, truck, or SUV with low tones that stand out.

MTX engineers evaluate the "sonic signatures" of top-selling vehicles so they can design ThunderForms as custom acoustic matches. With "rotational molding," MTX ensures that each ThunderForm fits and blends inconspicuously into your vehicle. They're made of high-density polyethylene resin to curb resonances and deliver bass that's tight, hard-hitting, and way down low.

This molded MTX ThunderForm comes loaded with two premium-quality 10" Terminator subwoofers modified especially for amplified Thunderforms, with a specially-designed amp that puts out 200 watts of power. It installs in your 2002-up Dodge Ram Quad Cab pickup under the rear seat. The enclosure is seamless and airtight, with the correct internal volume to yield optimum bass response from the subwoofers. Hardware is included.

This is a great product. I am very pleased with the great sound. The easy installed was done in a half hour. No problems.

Thunderforms

Written by: Cahuna33 from Phoenix, AZ on August 23, 2013

I have had the ThunderForm unit in my 2002 ram since 2007,it's awesome. The system really pounds. I have a pioneer Head unit and a Pioneer 100 watt stereo Power amp installed. It really vibrates my mirrors and the kids get a kick out of the massage they get sitting in the back seat. I highly recommend this unit for your truck. It turns quite a few heads because not to many people expect this kind of great sound come from a truck. I have had a few people expect to see a large bass box sitting in the back and see nothing. It is hidden well.

Pros: Out of sight out of mind. You don't have to worry about anybody seeing your setup in the back. The box blends in well with the color of your interior. Fantastic sound. You won't be disappointed...

Cons: There is none.

Great product, poor install experience

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First, great product once installed. Solid fit, great sound (w Kenwood deck). But I dock the product a star for sending the wiring harness with the power and remote swapped. I had to go get crimp pins to rewire the harness. How do you let a product go to the customer with QAing this (I blame the manufacturer, not Crutchfield. I called Crutchfield tech support and we had a good laugh over this lame QA, I sent them a pic). I could dock another star for the absolutely pitiful installation manual, as it makes no mention of having to wire the remote cable to your deck so the sub shuts down when you power down your vehicle. Good thing I know what I was doing. All of this aside, easy to do a clean wiring job and works great.

2005 Dodge Ram 1500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These subs work great. Hooked them up to my 05 Dodge Ram 1500 for bass. I was really happy with the results. Nice deep bass inside the truck, but doesn't have that "rattle 2 blocks away" sound outside of it. I ran the wires straight to my aftermarket cd player and didn't need to use the EBC. Instructions from Crutchfield made this an easy 4 hour job (including a new head unit) for a guy who has never installed a sound system in his life. Highly Recommended!!!!!

Pros: Easy to Install, Great Sound, Great Installation Info provided by Crutchfield

no, thunder forms are powered.... now u do want to by a deck that has power too, since u are not buying an amp. [ ROCKY  Jul 09, 2015 ]
No. The sub enclosure has it's own built in amplifier. [ Ryan  Jul 09, 2015 ]
Yes. Your head unit should come with a subwoofer output on the back. I bought an Alpine 500 watt Mono amp and added it to my system in my Dodge. Best thing I ever did. [ RANDALL  Jul 09, 2015 ]
No the amp is already installed in the center of the box. Its molded into the box itself. All you would need to do is still run a power cable, ground wire and a remote wire along with RCA cable from the head unit to the amp in the box. Fairly easy setup and they sound great, especially after you break them in. [ ANGELA MARIE  Jul 09, 2015 ]
If it's the same one I have No. It has a built-in 200 watt amp. There's two listed on the web site. I paid $799, this one has the built-in amp. I believe it tells you under the Details tab. Hope this helps. [ Dennis  Jul 09, 2015 ]
NO, it has a built in amp, I have this and a touchscreen pioneer that sounds amazing [ MATTHEW  Jul 09, 2015 ]
