Crinkled french fries, discarded receipts, old gum wrappers — you probably have everything in the hidden corners of your vehicle except great bass. ThunderForm enclosures fill the nooks and crannies of your vehicle with low tones that stand out, but their factory look blends right in.

MTX engineers evaluate the "sonic signatures" of top-selling vehicles so they can design ThunderForms as custom acoustic matches. Each ThunderForm fits and blends inconspicuously into your vehicle, so you get great bass without losing any space. The high-density polyethylene resin enclosure curbs unwanted resonances from your sub, so you'll hear bass that's tight, hard-hitting, and way down low.

This molded MTX ThunderForm comes loaded with a premium-quality 10" FPR subwoofer and a specially-designed amp that puts out 225 watts RMS. It installs under the rear passenger side seat in your 2001-09 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. MTX's Electronic Bass Control (EBC) lets you adjust the bass level from the driver's seat. Hardware and harness are included.

Product Highlights:

  • custom-fit powered subwoofer
  • enclosure fits under the rear passenger side seat
  • one 10" FPR subwoofer

Vehicle-specific enclosures with subs? Say what?

Instead of the usual sub in a box, the manufacturer creates a molded enclosure that fits perfectly into a convenient spot in your specific vehicle, housing a high-quality sub. Some enclosures even include a built-in amp, for the ultimate in stealth bass. The advantages? You don't lose much space (if any), your sub is perfectly matched to its enclosure, and your enclosure has a factory look that won't tell potential thieves you have an awesome sound system. Doesn't get better than that.

Awesome sub/amp combo

Written by: Bill-Ohio from Chillicothe, OH on February 17, 2013

This is an amazing subwoofer/enclosure/amplifier combo. It was a pretty easy install, the best part is it uses the space under the seat that is just empty space otherwise. It puts out some serious thump, a lot of people think it is a 12 or two 10's with a 1000W amp. They are always surprised when I tell them it is just one 10". A big bonus is the amplifier, it is plenty to power this sub yet light enough to not dim your headlights and drain your battery ( and ruin your alternator). Thank you MTX for a sweet low profile product for the Sport Trac, and thank you Crutchfield for helping people rock out with cool pruducts!

Pros: Out of the way/ perfict fit.

Cons: Only could be better if it went all the way across the seat and had two 10's

Outstanding

An OUTSTANDING product. Well worth the cost. This set-up produces tons of thump without being obnoxious to bystanders outside the vehicle. I'm certain that 90% of the people looking for a little more thump in the truck will be exctatic with this product, and all thunderforms for that matter. I highly recommend the powered version. It's comes prewired with a installation wiring kit to connect power. Definitely one of the easiest installs I've ever done. It took a little over 2 hours and some basic hand tools. Any amatuer mechanic should feel comfortable tackling this project.

Customer Q&A

1 question already asked

Often a 4-wire set-up will be for signal (2 wires), power and ground. You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you more details on the install. [ Jeff  Jan 25, 2016 ]  Staff
