MTX FPR10-04

Overview

Our take on the MTX FPR10-04

Shallow sub, intense bass
MTX built the FPR10-04 subwoofer to give you big bass in a vehicle that that doesn't have room for traditional large subwoofers. This sub comes in at only 3-3/8" deep, so it mounts in low-profile enclosures that'll fit almost anywhere. This sub handles up to 300 watts RMS, and delivers the kind of powerful performance that you'd usually only experience with a traditional sub. A pair of these 4-ohm subs work great with your mono amp, or use a single sub for a 2-channel amp that's bridged to mono.

Durable design
You can push the FPR10-04 hard, and it's built to survive in the tough car environment. A lightweight aluminum dustcap protects the polypropylene cone, while the rugged rubber surround offers long-lasting durability. MTX's unique Spider Plateau Venting keeps your subwoofer running cool during intense jam sessions. This sub requires a sealed box.

To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 225 and 450 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Hits hard and doesn't take up much room in my already small FRS trunk. Clean and Clear bass.

This is a great speaker for our truck. Mounted easily and fit perfectly in our box under the back seat. Great sound quality. You can "feel the thump"! Representative was extremely helpful and the speaker was received very quickly. Companies with focus on customer service seem to be hard to find these days...we found one! Definitely a company we will do business with again.

I bought this sub to fit under the passenger seat of my Scion Xb. I couldn't get the necessary box size to work with my space restrictions so I went to the back hatch. I'm pretty happy with it as a low profile sub, but not compared to a larger sub if you are looking for super low frequencies. HOWEVER, if you have a smaller car or truck and are worried about install size I don't think there is anything better for the money. This thing SLAMS and sounds great, even for one low profile 10". I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is worried about space or doesn't have a trunk or hatch to work with.

Pros: Small size, clean sound. Great value.

Cons: Not getting the low frequency response I hoped for from MTX. Could be that I am used to 12's...

I have been using two of these subs in a custom box under the rear seat of my Super Duty. I am powering the subs with an 800 watt Kenwood mono amp. So far I'm impressed with their sound quality. I have always had good luck with MTX, These subs are built good and should last.

Pros: Good sound, quality build

Cons: so far no cons
