Big bass at a nice price

This MTX Magnum Audio package offers a great way to add bottom-end punch to your vehicle without putting a strain on your wallet. It includes two subs in a ported enclosure, along with a matching amp — just add wiring for high-impact bass with all your favorite tunes.

Style and substance

The ported enclosure grabs attention with its embroidered Magnum logo, and heavy-duty black carpet protects the 5/8" particle board from dents and scratches. The two 8-ohm 10" subs feature durable polypropylene cones, and they're wired together to one pair of spring post terminals for 4-ohm total impedance.

The Magna Bass mono amplifier delivers 250 watts RMS to the two subs, and you can adjust the built-in low-pass filter and bass boost to get maximum performance in your vehicle.

Features

Overview: The Magnum MB210SP Amplifier and Subwoofer Enclosure Package includes a mono subwoofer amplifier and a hatchback enclosure loaded with two 10" woofers.

Dual 10" Subwoofer Enclosure: The tuned, pressure tested, slot-ported enclosure features rugged 5/8" particle board construction wrapped in aviation grade carpet. The enclosure is loaded with two 10-inch, 8-ohm woofers with poly cones and large roll rubber surrounds. The dual 10" subwoofer enclosure features spring post input terminals (one pair) on the rear panel that will accept pin connectors, single and dual banana plugs, and bare wire up to 10 gauge. The two 8-ohm woofers are wired in parallel to present a 4-ohm load at the enclosure's speaker terminals. The dual 10" subwoofer enclosure provides a frequency response of 20 to 300 Hz.

Mono Amplifier: The mono amplifier is rated at 250 Watts RMS at 4-ohms. The amplifier features a pair of RCA level inputs as well as a high-level input via the supplied speaker-level harness. The amplifier also includes a pair of preamp-outputs so you can connect another amplifier without having to run a second pair of RCA cables back to your headunit. The amplifier incorporates low-pass and high-pass crossovers, and can also be operated full-range. The low-pass and high-pass crossovers are continuously adjustable from 50-250Hz. In addition the amplifier features an adjustable bass boost from 0 to 18 dB at 40Hz. The amplifier utilizes thermal, overload, and short protection circuitry to protect the amplifier and the connected woofers. The amplifier features one pair of set-screw speaker terminal outputs that will accept up to 10 gauge wire. The amplifier is equipped with a 20A ATO fuse.

Customer Q&A

62 questions already asked

Q
I bought a alpine bass knob, would that be able to hook up to this amp?
jaiden  Oct 26, 2023
1 answer
A
The Alpine bass knob is not compatible with the MTX MB212P amplifier, Jaiden. This amp actually has no input for any remote bass knob. If you purchased your gear from us, make sure to contact our Customer Support portal and we can issue a return label for the Alpine bass knob, no worries there. If you are installing in a vehicle with a factory radio using a speaker-level signal you will be needing a line output converter, and you can use the AudioControl LC2i Pro in the first link below that has a remote bass knob included if you need a rotary control. The LC2i Pro will not work if you are using an RCA line-level output from an aftermarket amplifier. I hope this helps!

Q
Is this setup compatible with my factory head unit on a 2012 hyundai sonata se?
brian  Oct 21, 2023
1 answer
A
We need to know if your 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE came with factory navigation, Brian. If it does not, you can use the PAC LPHHY04 vehicle specific harness in the first link below, and the AudioControl LC2i pro in the second link to generate a processed, high-quality preamp signal for your MTX Magnum bass package. This harness is not compatible with the Navigation models, but you can always hardwire the LC2i pro into any vehicle. The MTX amplifier does have a speaker-level input signal that can be attached to any factory radio with powered speaker outputs, but your setup will sound better using a line output converter with processing and bass restoration like the LC2i. We are always here to help! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_541LPHHY04/PAC-LPHHY04-LocPro-Advanced-T-Harness.html https://www.crutchfield.com/p_161LC2IPRO/AudioControl-LC2i-PRO.html

Q
Do I need an LOC for this package for a stock 2013 Honda Accord EX?
christian  Aug 09, 2023
1 answer
A
This will depend on which amplifier you use for the project. The amplifier included in this MTX package offers speaker-level inputs, which would handle the job of an LOC. However, some LOC's, like the AudioControl LC2i, offer additional functionality such as bass restoration, which helps to correct for factory radio bass roll off.

Is this compatible with a 2019 GMC Acadia?
ashley  May 08, 2023
1 answer
A
Thank you for your question, Ashley. This will work in your Acadia, it has speaker level and preamp inputs for signal, you'll need a 10-gauge amp wiring kit to run to the battery in your Acadia for power.

Q
Will this fit in a 1992 ford f150 pickup?
mp016  Apr 17, 2023
1 answer
A
Unfortunately, we didn't measure the available space for a sub box in this specific truck. With this being a pretty large box, you'd likely have to raise the rear seats to allow space for it in the rear floor. We do list the measurements as 10-3/4"W x 2-3/16"H x 9-1/8"D, so it's very unlikely it would fit behind the seats.

Hello, will this package work well and fit in a 2021 Mazda 6? Just looking to add a bit of bump to my stock speakers.

Based on our measurements, this should fit nicely in the cargo space of your 2021 Mazda 6. Our advisors would be happy to discuss connection to the factory audio system. Please reach out to us via online chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Will this fit and work properly in a 2013 Subaru Brz with a stock radio system?
brandon  Mar 06, 2023
1 answer
A
We do not qualify universal subwoofers like the MTX Magnum Audio MB210SP Magna Bass Package for fit, Brandon. We do have some rough measurements in our Vehicle Research for the rear area in your BRZ where a subwoofer could go, and it appears this MTX box is too tall by about one inch and will not fit. Check out the Single 12" Kenwood down-firing box in the link below, this could be a better fit and you can pair an amp to it to make a custom package. What is SUPER cool about your BRZ is that the factory radio is equipped with RCA jacks for the subwoofer output! In order for the RCA's to output signal, they must be activated in the radio's menu. https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113PX1241S/Kenwood-Excelon-P-XW1241S.html

would this fit an infiniti g35 coupe?
khelvani  Nov 12, 2022

A
Greetings Khelvani, and thank you for your question. The box dimensions are 28-1/8"W x 12-15/16"H x 13-1/8"D1 x 9-3/4"D2. We would need the year of your G35 to check on trunk space. Please call one of our advisors at 800-324-9695, and have them pull up your G35.

Will this fit in a 2006 chevy Silverado single cab?

Q
Will this fit in 2007 Nissan Frontier se?
duck1024  Aug 14, 2022
1 answer
A
There is not enough room behind the rear seats to fit the subwoofer enclosure in this bass package. We did not measure the floorboard to check if it could be installed between the front and rear seats. It does seem unlikely that the sub box can fit in the floorboard based on its width and depth (28-1/8" wide x 13-1/8" deep at the bottom of the box). You may need to remove the back seat to create the space needed for this box

Do the green light and blue light on top stay on?
christopher  Aug 05, 2022

A
Greetings Christopher, and thank you for your question. If you are asking about the very top next to Magnum, I do not see a way to shut those off during operation. The lights on the back panel will be lit up during operation, preferably just the green light.

Q
does the amp include the high level input harness? also does it have sensing on/off through the high level inputs or would I still have to run a remote wire?
the slow civic  Dec 30, 2020
1 answer
A
This amp does come with a high level (also called speaker level) input harness. There is no mention of it having a signal sensing input. This means the amp will need the trigger input connected to a switched power wire and we offer our customers technical support that can help with the installation. Just keep your order invoice handy as it has the order number you will need to provide and the toll free phone number for our support department.

Q
What is the amp's wattage? This website says 250 watts but the box it came in said 800 watts.
austin  Mar 26, 2017
1 answer
A
The MTX amplifier provides 250 watts RMS at the 4 Ohm load. Any higher wattage numbers on the packaging are likely the "Max" or "Peak" ratings. There is no standard of measurement for "Max" or "Peak" ratings and they are not indicative of the actual wattage an amplifier will produce or a speaker/sub will handle.

Great system for the $, I've had it in 3 vehicles, Ford Focus, a Dodge Durango, and a Ford Fusion, sounds great n all 3 types,
brandon  Mar 10, 2016
A
Yes, it's a great fit. My 2002 BMW 330XI is about the same size as your Chevy Cruz. As far as the bass, it's great. It hits on ever low like you would want it to. I was debating on going with the two 12's from MTX. Good thing I didn't, it's perfectly in the trunk. Things is, it's a compromise, can't really put anything else in the trunk without risking damage. For the price, you can't beat it. Just a heads up, the amp over heats easily in the summer. My solution I have the amp on my seat, I lay it down in the summer and let the AC or window air hit it problem solved. Or you can get a better amp. Your choice.

Q
Could you take the subs out of the box and put them in a different box? I like this package where I know that I'm getting an amp that works with the subs but this box wouldn't fit in my truck. I guess you could call me a sub newbie, thanks!

You definitely could. However, if you are putting these in a truck you may want to look for some low profile woofers. I'm not sure how deep the drivers go into the box. I'm sure crutchfield can answer that for you if you call them. I would highly recommend calling them, the customer service reps will point you straight and find you the perfect fit, that's how I learned years ago on my first system.

I haven't taken mine out of the box they came in so i honestly don't know. I assume they are like any other subs which u can take out and replace but i don't want to make any promises hahah sorry for the lame answer
nathan m  Sep 01, 2014
A
You can put them in any box as long as it is the proper volume for the subwoofers
scott  Sep 01, 2014

Yes they are removable. They're probably to big to fit in a shallow mount box though

Q
What type of amp should i get as a upgrade for these subs?

I also meant to add that when I removed the subs from the box . They are Dual Voice Coil subs . Just some extra Info and I finally decided to run the Premier PRS-D3000SPL at 4ohms and made sure that the voltage was set perfect between line driver and amplifier and these 2 Magnum 10" subs are handling themselves . I know that I'm getting 500 watts RMS minimum , but probably more around 600 or 300 watts per sub . I actually was surprised that they have stood up to the 500 watts + . I'm not recommending you get a 1,000 watt pioneer mono block for these subs though . I would be safe and go 400 watt mono block any brand you prefer really [ call Crutchfield for complete information on an amp though if your new to mobile electronics or don't understand something ] . I have been running the subs at 4ohms since I last posted here and I don't go easy on the volume . So I have to speak to the strength of these Magnum Subs and they have a pretty decent looking structural system as far as voice coil , basket , motor assembly all built pretty tough . I will say this also , I may be in the thermal handling danger zone running these subs with 500 plus hard watts . But it sounds so good and they will take your breath away with that much power on them . Just hope I don't reach the thermal limit on these guys and ruin really good sounding subs . I still can't believe though ,, that price for the original set up ,, cause they sounded heavy and loud even before I swapped amps . It is kinda crazy they can make that kind of power and quality power if you wire everything correctly and I also used a line driver for 6 volts to the pre amp / low level input/ RCA Jacks . Lol ! Anyway thought I would update on the power handling of these subs over the past months , Thanks . I will do a sine wave measurement from my prs3000 so I can post the exact voltage to watts conversion with the multimeter . So that way there will be a for sure power measurement that they are handling . Post it tomorrow

I meant 16 ohms , sorry. Yeah playing it safe for now with that size amp .

I'm using an Pioneer Premier prsd3000spl bridged to an 8ohm load that I rewired the box to . But with the PrsD3000 I figure I'm getting about 400 watts . That's a guesstimate haven't had time to test it yet . But so far so good . I was thinking of changing sub's , but they sound really good and tight even though they are in a ported enclosure . But to be safe I wouldn't go past 250 watts RMS per sub . They are pretty heavy duty built sub's , big magnets and large voice coil , I'm guessing 2 inch coils . If your not sure though I agree on calling Crutchfield . Been doing business with them since I was 15 , I am now 34 . They won't steer you wrong .

Q
Can I be able to use a 4 gauge amp kit with this? I see it says 10 but I already have a 4 gauge kit.

A
No sorry you can't 6 gauge is the biggest you can use on the amp
jherrold  Mar 25, 2014
A
I would not personally recommend it for two reasons. The first being unless you had a way to convert 4 gauge down to 10 gauge size without just taking strands off, the 4 gauge won't fit into to actual amp. The second being even if you had a way to get it down to that size, the power flow that would be coming to the amp would probably be to much and would end up hurting the amp. A nice 10 gauge kit isn't all that expensive anyways. I hope this helps.

I am guessing you can, just may be a challenge connecting the ends to the terminals ,,,, but they are fairly large. Give it a try.
glenn  Mar 25, 2014
A
I would stick with what it says. Theoretically you could but I wouldn't test it. It could just ruin the amp
greg  Mar 25, 2014
A
Yea, it would work fine. The amp that comes with these subs doesnt have enough power for them you can barely even hear em you'll need to upgrade. I got a kenwood 1000 watt.
michael  Mar 25, 2014
A
The package already comes with everything you need to install it to your head unit no need to change or add other things to it.
angel  Mar 25, 2014
A
The power fits, ground doesn't. So you can shave or adapt the ground down to the amp and be just fine.

Is there a possibility that they can put the speakers on the backside of the box? And has anyone put these in a jeep wrangler?

A
I never did put the speakers on the backside of the box.
michael  Mar 08, 2014
A
I don't recommend this . the air coming from the box will always look for a way to come out and when those subs are pumping that air it will blow right out the the speakers , through the magnets the, speaker cone ,blow your speakers plus the sound would be distorted

My first time looking for a new system and have no clue what I'm doing. Does this item include everything I need to install it or are some extras like wires or something?

A
Package comes with the subs already installed in an enclosure with an amp. You need wires and possibly mounting hardware.
david  Jan 01, 2014
A
All that is included is the subs and amp. You will need to buy all the wiring seperately. Also, the amp that comes with it is no good so you would want to upgrade it. That amp doesn't have the wattage to power the subs effectively.
michael  Dec 28, 2013
A
The kit just comes with subwoofers, box, amplifier and screws. You need an amplifier installation kit.
jose m  Dec 28, 2013
A
You will need one of the recommended wiring kits that Crutchfield recommends. Besides that all you need is the tools and you are good to go. Also speaker wire, which you can find at local stores. Hope this helped and enjoy the bass!
anthony m  Dec 27, 2013
A
Hi Brian, I know that the power, ground and remote wire required to hook it up was not included, I honestly cannot remember if the actual speaker wires were included. This was bought as a gift for my son and as it replaced other products the wires were in place already. I would add that he is very happy with the product.
terry  Dec 27, 2013

this is a great first system. you will need to purchase an amp wiring kit that you can get right here from Crutchfield and it may or may not come with some speaker wire to go from the amp to the subs. you can also get the wiring instructions from the info on the site as well. hope this helps
michael  Dec 27, 2013
A
You will need speaker wire, power and ground wires, rca cables, and a remote power lead
jason d  Dec 27, 2013
A
Your gonna need a amp wiring kit on the side I hope that helps just a note these sub got good bass for your buck so enjoy

does the amp come with a bass knob?

800 would be peak watts, and the 250 sounds like rms watts
bryson  Dec 15, 2013

Peak vs rms
nicholas w  Dec 13, 2013

The subs are 800 watts. The amp is a 250 watt monoblock. Seems kind of small but it's actually pretty good.
