About the MTX RTX128

John Pollard
They'll hear you coming
Are you looking to play your music loud? If so, you'll want to check out MTX's Road Thunder Extreme speakers, which use PA system technology to bring concert sound levels to your car. MTX built the RTX128 12" midbass speaker to fill in the frequencies in between where your tweeters and subwoofers play. And, believe us — this incredibly efficient speaker will give you plenty of volume when you feed it some serious power.

RTX128 12

Built for high power
The RTX128 handles up to 300 watts RMS thanks to its hefty magnet, treated paper cone, and cloth surround. You can also easily run two of these 8-ohm speakers with a single amplifier channel, great news if you're installing two in each door. You can install this speaker in an enclosure if you want, but it works great in a free-air applications.

Note: This package contains one speaker. You'll need an external amplifier to drive this speaker properly — an in-dash stereo won't have enough power.

Q
Will it fit in the doors of a 1996 Ford Ranger?
walker  Feb 12, 2024
1 answer
A
The MTX RTX128 12" midbass speaker will not fit in your factory speaker locations, Walker. We consider this a custom install speaker where a custom box or enclosure is needed, and we do not qualify these for specific vehicle fit. Please use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your truck's specifics and we will list all speakers that are a fit in the factory speaker locations. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car-Speakers.html

Q
Will it fit in the doors of my 2009 Honda accord ex 4 door sedan?
logan  Jan 13, 2024
1 answer
A
The MTX RTX128 is a 12" midbass speaker designed for SPL competition, Logan. This speaker is far too large to fit in the original speaker locations on your 2009 Honda Accord EX 4-door. Please enter your vehicle into our online Vehicle Guide in the link below and we will list all speakers we offer that are a good fit. We do the hard work for you and will only suggest speakers that can be installed without any major modifications in most vehicles. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car-Speakers.html

A
The MTX RTX128 12" is a custom installed mid-bass speaker for use in SPL competition systems, Brent. The rear door speaker locations on your vehicle can fit a 6 1/2" or 6 3/4" speaker. Please use our online Vehicle Guide in the link below to enter your Mazda's year, make, model, and specific trim and we will list all the speakers that are a fit. https://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car-Speakers.html

Q
Will it fit in a 2015 Nissan Versa? It's my first car, and I plan on getting a sub system, but my back doors don't have any speakers, and I want some that will not blow with a sub system.
tatum  Aug 16, 2023
1 answer
A
The 2015 Nissan Versa stock speaker mount, found in the versions that come with speakers in the rear doors, will not take a speaker this big. A 6-3/4" speaker is the biggest size we can get installed into it. I recommend contacting an advisor by calling 1-800-324-9695 to discuss your goals for the system and get a personal recommendation on gear that will work
