About the MTX TR4512-44

Dominic DeVito
MTX's TR45 Series subwoofers bring swagger back to the bass game — they sport killer graphics to match their impressive low-end output, so you can show them off for their sound and their looks. You won't have to empty your wallet to keep your trunk or cargo area full of bass with these hard-driving subs.

MTX's TR45 Series subwoofers bring swagger back to the bass game — they sport killer graphics to match their impressive low-end output, so you can show them off for their sound and their looks. You won't have to empty your wallet to keep your trunk or cargo area full of bass with these hard-driving subs.

The TR4512-44 12" subwoofer features a tough-as-nails polypropylene cone and nitrile-butylene rubber surround that deliver pounding performance and distortion-free bass at moderate power levels. Its dual 4-ohm voice coils offer added versatility for setting up your system, whether you're trying to get maximum power from your mono amp or to link multiple subs together safely. This workhorse sub works well in either a ported or sealed enclosure.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation. Most mono amps are stable down to 2 ohms.

Features

Polypropylene Cone: The woofer features a silver polypropylene cone with a raised MTX Audio and tribal design logo. Polypropylene is lightweight yet durable and offers efficient, dependable bass response.

High Roll NBR Surround: The woofer features a stitched high roll Nitrile-Butylene Rubber surround which uses FEA optimized roll geometry to maximize excursion without sacrificing cone surface area.

Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4-ohm voice coils that offer flexibility in wiring. When the voice coils are wired in parallel with each other, the woofer presents a 2-ohm mono load. When the voice coils are wired in series with each other, the woofer presents an 8-ohm mono load. In addition, each coil may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see a 4-ohm load.

Voice Coils: The voice coils are wound on a high-temperature former to promote high power handling.

Asymmetrical Linear Drive System (ALDS): The Asymmetrical Linear Drive System consists of a flat, progressive spider that improves suspension and an extended vented pole piece that smoothes out the cone's linear motion. The result is high output and low distortion.

Spider Plateau Venting: Heat from the voice coil is vented through metal-mesh covered vents that surround the back of the spider.

Enclosure Compatibility

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: MTX recommends mounting this woofer in a sealed enclosure made out of 3/4" MDF with an internal volume of 1.25 cu/ft.

Recommended Vented Box Volume: MTX recommends a ported enclosure made out of 3/4" MDF with an internal volume of 2.00 cu/ft using a 2" wide x 14" tall slot port that is 16.75" long.
