About the MTX T812-44
Prepare for the thunder
Prepare for the thunder
If you're looking to add some intense bass to your ride, check out MTX's Thunder 8000 Series subwoofers. These models come from a long line of high-performance MTX subs, so you can be sure they'll add impact and depth to your music. Whether you jam out to rock'n'roll or you dig the hard bass lines of Hip Hop, these subs have you covered.
A tough cast-aluminum basket reduces vibrations that cause distortion.
Built to perform
MTX's T812-44 12" subwoofer features a glass fiber cone that's tough and light, so it can make the most of your amplifier's power while maintaining its shape when the bass gets heavy. This sub can play for hours without overheating, thanks to spider plateau venting that continuously cycles cool air to the voice coils, keeping the temperature down. MTX holds it all together with a cast-aluminum basket that won't add any coloration to your bass.
Bring on the power
These subs can handle up to 500 watts RMS, so make sure you've got an amplifier that's up to the job so they can give you the deep bass you're looking for. Also, the sub's dual 4-ohm voice coils make it easy to connect to a mono amplifier.

Features
Dual 4-ohm Voice Coils: This woofer features dual 4-ohm voice coils, offering wiring flexibility. When the voice coils are wired in parallel the woofer presents a 2-ohm load. When the voice coils are wired in series the woofer presents an 8-ohm load.
NBR Surrounds: The surrounds are made of NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber). The surrounds are stitched to the cones, providing added strength and durability under high SPL. NBR has the added benefit of being resistant to ozone and UV rays for extreme durability.
Voice Coil: Designed for high power handling and large linear excursion, the woofer's dual 2.4" diameter voice coils are rated to 428° to handle the harshest playback conditions.
Terminals: The woofer features two pair of heavy-duty chrome spring post terminals which can accept single or dual banana plugs, pin connectors, or bare wire up to 10-gauge.
Spider Plateau Venting: Heat from the voice coil is vented through metal-mesh covered vents that surround the back of the spider. As the woofer travels back and forth, cool air is pulled in and heated air is pushed out.
Asymmetrical Linear Drive System (ALDS): The Asymmetrical Linear Drive System consists of a flat, progressive spider that improves suspension and an extended pole piece that smoothes out the cone's linear motion. The result is high output and low distortion.
Die Cast Aluminum Frame: This woofer has a die cast aluminum frame, designed to support the huge magnet structure and prevent buckling.
Enclosure Compatibility
Sealed Box: For the best possible sound quality where space is a premium MTX recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.25 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Vented Box: The recommended vented box has a net internal volume of 2.0 ft³ with a slotted port 14" x 2" x 17". Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power.
Warranty
5 Year Warranty Terms: This product carries a 5-Year Prorated Warranty with the following terms:
- Years 1-2: Products found to be defective in materials or workmanship during the first two years will be, at Mitek's option, repaired or replaced by Mitek at no charge. The warranty period does not renew, but continues on from the original date of purchase.
- Years 3-5: The purchase price of an item which becomes defective after the first two years and prior to the end of the warranty period will be prorated and credited toward the purchase of a new MTX product. The amount of proration is determined by dividing the original purchase price by the number of months in the warranty period (60), then multiplying the result by the number of months remaining in the warranty period.
