MTX Terminator subwoofers sound as good as they look. And they look pretty cool, with classic MTX subwoofer styling that adds a professional look in almost any vehicle. If you're looking for big bass at a bargain price, you'll be impressed by what the Terminator sub has to offer.
Trickle-down technology makes the Terminator TN10-04 10" sub a serious value. MTX's exclusive spider plateau venting pushes air in and out of the inner works to keep the 1-1/2" voice coil cool, while the Assymetrical Linear Drive System uses a flat, progressive spider and an extended pole piece to produce smooth, linear movement of the polypropylene cone. The result is a powerful sub that keeps pumping out accurate bass, even during extended, high-level play.
To drive this subwoofer, we recommend a mono subwoofer amplifier that can put out between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.
A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.
Great buy, great bass.
This sub really does a good job. Got it on sale, and was a little weary because of the price, but bam, this thing really hits. Would definitely recommend. Have it hooked up to a 125w amp in a sealed .75cf box
Pros: Price. quality, sound
Cons: not going to bother the man in the car next to you
The speakers exceeded my expectations. Nice solid deep bass. Definitely match up with amp nice.
Pros: Good looking, easy to install. I like the thick rubber collar to absorb any movement or vibration.
I got this sub about 3 weeks ago and i absolutely love it, it is a huge improvement from my last one. It hardly even has to make an effort to get the car shaking and it makes all my friends jealous and want to buy it off me. Im going to buy another one of these as soon as i can.
Pros: Sounds Great Looks Awesome Easy to Install Love The Rubber Guard where u put the screws in Lightweight
Cons: Makes my other sub look and sound like crap haha
I've had high end systems and basic systems. These are exactly what I was looking for. Good sound, good price. I listen to rock music and they perform great.
Pros: Thumbs up! All accounts
Great sub! Especially for the price
Great sub, installed on a ranger and couldn't be happier
Pros: price quality sound
Cons: can't think of one
Pretty good, great speaker for the price
Pros: Sounds good enough for a small system
Cons: Limited to low watts RMS,
Great product. Very good price form Crutchfield. This item shipped right on time and was delivered within the quoted time.
I was able to install this item as soon as i got it. They fit perfect. I need a sub with a certain depth and this fit perfect.
Paired with a small alpine mono amp, this sub in a sealed box provides more than enough low end to nicely fill out my sound.
Always the best from Crutchfield!
I have a Nissan 350z and i want to upgrade the audio system, but not outrageous.
Pros: Good sound and quality for the price
Cons: Dont fits exactly in the space,i need spacer
very flashy and is very loud
For the money you can't go wrong as this is pretty cheap. I have this in a 2000 dodge pick up in a kicker enclosure (the kickers voice coil locked up solid after running a 380watt CES 2006 compliant amp to it, it was rated at 150 RMS like this MTX is). Currently pushing it with a Kenwood 150 watt RMS amp so it matches good. It is a little more musical than the sealed sony 12 sub it replaced. But not as good overall as my Kenwood Excelon 8 inch sub i also compared it with. Then again the Kenwood still sells for a lot mor here at Crutchfield.
Overall you can't beat it for the price.
Pros: It is cheap and a brand name. Should be a good blend with factory or aftermarket speakers pushed by a factory or aftermarket head unit with out an amp. Guess i should say pair this with a 100 to 150 watt amp and one of Crutchfields Sound Ordinance boxes and you will have a good mixture of (not overwhelming bass) if the rest of your system is stock/factory.
Cons: Has the flat blade terminals instead of the spring loaded terminals. My friends won't be able to hear it thumping outside my vehicle but then again i purchased it for me to enjoy while driving not people a block away.
This sub was included in an MTX thunder form I purchased for my 05 Dodge Magnum R/T. I had a single Infinity 1262w sealed in a spec box on a Rockford P325.1 before I swapped out to the thunder form to save some space. The MTX is just not in the same league and I thought the sub sounded like crap until it started to break in and I was pleasantly surprised it held its own on half the power. Since its a 4 ohm sub and I had it on the same amp = half the power. Its not going to win any awards but I think its a great sub for the price. I am sure it would sound a lot better in a hatch or suv in a well made ported box with enough power. You would definitely need a pair ported in a trunk with some decent power to bump.
Pros: Cheap, decent SQ, good entry level woofer.
Cons: Can't take too much power before it sounds sloppy.

Spider Plateau Venting: Heat from the voice coil is vented through vents that surround the back of the spider. As the woofer travels back and forth, cool air is pulled in and heated air is pushed out.
Asymmetrical Linear Drive System (ALDS): The Asymmetrical Linear Drive System consists of a flat, progressive spider that improves suspension and an extended pole piece that smoothes out the cone's linear motion. The result is high output and low distortion.
Sealed Box: For the best possible sound quality where space is a premium MTX recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 0.75 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Vented Box: The recommended vented box has a net internal volume of 1.45 ft³ with a slotted port 12" x 2" x 20-1/2". Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power.
