MTX Terminator subwoofers sound as good as they look. And they look pretty cool, with classic MTX subwoofer styling that adds a professional look in almost any vehicle. If you're looking for big bass at a bargain price, you'll be impressed by what the Terminator sub has to offer.
Trickle-down technology makes the Terminator TN12-04 12" sub a serious value. MTX's exclusive spider plateau venting pushes air in and out of the inner works to keep the 1-1/2" voice coil cool, while the Assymetrical Linear Drive System uses a flat, progressive spider and an extended pole piece to produce smooth, linear movement of the polypropylene cone. The result is a powerful sub that keeps pumping out accurate bass, even during extended, high-level play.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.
A component sub is simply a speaker that's designed to reproduce bass once it's installed in a compatible enclosure. Think about the impact of a movie soundtrack in a big theater or even in your own home HDTV setup. A component sub can add the same kind of power to the music in your car. And a car sub is not all about the boom that you hear on a street corner (although that's cool too) - you can pair a component sub with your choice of enclosure to get bass just the way you like it, from tight and punchy to fat and loose. And once you experience music in your car with a well-tuned subwoofer, you'll never go back.
This is a great sub. Best quality for price.
Cons: The only thing I don't care for it the wire leads are not "plug-n-play" posts.
It's a good sub for the price
Cons: Blows within 6 months this is my 5th one
Great speaker for a great value.
Great subwoofer! I have a 1500watt boss audio amp with mosfet protection on it and it's by far the best set up I've had. The only thing I would improve is getting another one
Pros: Great sound all around, good quality, and a fantastic product
there a really good all around sub ive never had issues with mtx and the terms are my favorite
Very nice over all product for the price. I bought 2 12in and installed them into a vented box. They sound great look nice and are pretty inexpensive.
Pros: Build quality, Sound great, Look Cool, Easy install.
Cons: They seem to get warm very quickly. Along with the added smell of something burning. Havnt had any problems yet.
I have owned at least 10 of theese mtx terminator subs, and i have never had one blow on me, even throwing up to 1000watts rms on 2 in a box. They look clean, are very tough and the spider web coiling makes theese things basically heat proof. Even in the texas heat in my black car the amps would blow before theese puppys stopped barking. Overall good quality cheap and worth every cent. Small magnet but loud for its size. Sub is underratted for sure. Can handle twice what specs are
Pros: Lightweight, heat resistant, looks clean. Works well in almost any setup, cheap and efficent
Cons: Small magnet, do not put in ported box,
Great speaker. Sounds great in my Excursion.
Pros: Hits hard with good lows and highs
Crutchfield has a lot of articles with excellent information and that helped me decide this sub. I read the articles, did the calculations and matched this sub to my amp and I am very happy with the sound. At first it was a little boomy but I read another article on how to balance and properly set the gain and crossovers on the amp and it made a big difference. Thank you Crutchfield for making so much information available .
Pros: 5 year warranty, good sound, good value
This is an amazing product that works great.
Pros: they sound wonderful aren't very expensive and all and all just an amazing subwoofer.
Cons: no i have had zero problems or complaints with these subs.
Looks like a great quality woofer with rubber surround and sounds great! And for the price, you cant go wrong. Im super happy in my single cab truck! You can hear me comming!
Pros: The price, quality, and it looks clean!
Cons: I have nothing bad to say about this product.
Great speakers, great sound, great price!
Pros: Everything about them
the mtx terminators are very nice. i just bought 2 12s from a friend and that stuff bumps. i also have a sony xplod and with my 2 12s and my xplod i have in my bedroom i can walk outside in my hallway to stuff falling over on the ground.
Pros: they bump hard and look very good in a nice box

Spider Plateau Venting: Heat from the voice coil is vented through vents that surround the back of the spider. As the woofer travels back and forth, cool air is pulled in and heated air is pushed out.
Asymmetrical Linear Drive System (ALDS): The Asymmetrical Linear Drive System consists of a flat, progressive spider that improves suspension and an extended pole piece that smoothes out the cone's linear motion. The result is high output and low distortion.
Sealed Box: For the best possible sound quality where space is a premium MTX recommends a sealed enclosure with an internal volume of 1.25 ft³. Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Vented Box: The recommended vented box has a net internal volume of 2.0 ft³ with a slot port 14" x 2" x 16-3/4". Vented (or ported) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power.
5 Year Warranty Terms: This product carries a 5-Year Prorated Warranty with the following terms:
Yes there is. Crutchfield offers a warranty on all products and a lot of times the product maker offers an extended warranty. I hope this can help. [ Jeremy Jan 02, 2016 ]
From my understanding Crutchfield warranties all their products and also I actually purchased these subs and when they went out Crutchfield replaced them no problem.
