Lardog from Pleasanton, CA on 4/27/2014

These speakers are smaller than expected (about 4" across) but the Crutchfield adpater worked well for my front speakers although I did have to drill some holes to make them line up properly. I purchased these at the same time as some larger Blaupunkts that cost $10 more and the MTX is a much better sounding speaker. I'm very impressed how full range they sound for the price and size.

All I know is one of my old speakers was cracked...and these new ones are NOT cracked. They sound good. About as good as the previous ones I had in there. They handle my music well and the bass is wonderful.

Pros: I have uncracked speaker music again. :)

Cons: I had to pay money, but at least the price was right.

Great replacement speaker for my wife's 2012 Toyota RAV4 Limited. They fit in front and rear doors with no problems. Crutchfield indicates they won't fit in front door, but they do. I plan on putting these in my daughter's Scion xD and also in my Hyundai Elantra GT.

Pros: Great sound for the price. Crutchfield has the best price.

1992 Plymouth Acclaim
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First of all, it said it would fit "1992 Plymouth Acclaim Sedan without Infinity system: Front Door". Holes don't line up.The holes are smaller on speaker than the car. The holes on the speaker are closed on the end, had to cut them off to get to fit car. The previous Pioneers just came that way. Also, The details on this page is NOT accurate! On the box: 105 watts max power. Not 70w.

Pros: Not sure if this is a pro or con, their sensitivity is very different than the sensitivity of the Pioneer TS-G1315. Volume doesn't match, so now have to buy another set. Cheap.

Cons: Speakers didn't fit right out of Box. I thought the highs would be more crisp than the dual cones they replaced, I seriously can't tell the difference.

Nice Speakers For The Price

Marty from Wilkesboro, NC on 8/21/2013

I put these in my 2003 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab to replace the junk factory ones. I have never installed speakers before. Crutchfield made it a breeze. Directions were detailed, and simple. Speakers produce clear, crisp sound...no they are not Infinity, but they are great for the money. They seem to be nicely made.. All the harnesses, and brackets were included. No drilling or retro fitting. Took about an hour and a half to install, including putting door panels back on.

great for begginers

EricD from Greenville SC on 4/16/2013

Well to start off I had never installed new speakers in a car before aside from subs, but that usually doesn't required deconstructing your car to achieve. I had previously ordered a double DIN install kit from Crutchfield and they were kind enough to provide install instructions for that which included speaker installation as well and for that I am in their debt. The install was hard at first but once the first speaker was in the second only took 20 minutes thanks to the included mounting brackets and wire harness. And for the person commenting on not having screws for the brackets, you obviously did not read the provided instructions for those because (for mine anyway) it clearly states to use the screws that come with your speakers so that's not really a con. As for the speakers themselves, they seem to be of excellent quality. I was worried at first but after adjusting the X'over on my Kenwood x993 I can get these things to pump out some serious sound without distorting. I don't claim to be a car audio expert (like the fine people at Crutchfield) but with simple, accurate instructions and so many freebies to make install a breeze you can't go wrong with these speakers. They're cheap and blow stock speaker's out of the water! Couldn't ask for much more. All I have experience with is MTX in my beginnings of car audio but so far they have more than impressed and are highly recommended in my humble opinion.

Pros: Great price, great sound, great support

Cons: May not be top of the line but if your looking at these then your not in the market for top of the line.

2004 Saturn VUE
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First off, I was bit concerned buying these as new releases, as there were no reviews at the time to get a third party review. However, I know that MTX has a reputable name in sound equipment and gave them a shot. For a little background info, I was replacing the two 6.5 front door speakers in my '04 Saturn Vue, and as usual Crutchfield sent me brackets and harnesses. In my scenario, everything went great! Clear instructions, perfect fits, and easy assembly-minus the fact that the bracket doesn't come with any screws. Luckily the MTX speakers came with some that fit perfectly into the bracket. Sound wise: I am a musician and studio owner, and know what sounds good and what doesn't. These speakers sound great for the price, and give a good flat sound that allows you to use your head unit to tweak them to flavor. They are durable and the rubber surround and cone seemingly will last a long time. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for a good 5-6.5 inch stock replacement!

Pros: Great sound, not too bright on highs--really shine when you run through a high pass filter Good low end for the size Came with screws, wires and clips for versitie mounting applications

Cons: Mounting bracket didn't come with screws, but it was included free-plus the MTX's came with some so no biggie.. Nothing else I can think of!

Good speakers for the price!

Pros: Price,sound

Features

Woofer Cones: The MTX Terminator series speakers feature durable and rigid polypropylene woofer cones. Polypropylene is also resistant to the moisture and temperature extremes found in automotive applications.

Tweeters: Each speaker features a 1/2" Mylar dome tweeter.

Warranty: Although the speaker reviewed and measured (taken from our first shipment) included information indicating a 1 year warranty, MTX recently changed to a 5-Year Prorated Warranty with the following terms:

  • Years 1-2: Products found to be defective in materials or workmanship during the first two years will be, at Mitek's option, repaired or replaced by Mitek at no charge. The warranty period does not renew, but continues on from the original date of purchase.
  • Years 3-5: The purchase price of an item which becomes defective after the first two years and prior to the end of the warranty period will be prorated and credited toward the purchase of a new MTX product. The amount of proration is determined by dividing the original purchase price by the number of months in the warranty period (60), then multiplying the result by the number of months remaining in the warranty period.
