big sound for a small price.

Pros: full audio quality from a pair of door speakers. the price, the tabs on the speakers are large enough to accommodate 1" self tapping screws. these things rail for a single pair.

Cons: the only thing that I can think of is that you have to mount them directly to the door and remove the factory baskets.

These have the best sound to them. Of course you have to drill new mounting screws but that took an extra 30 seconds to the install. So much better then what I thought I would get out of them.

Pros: Great sound

Cons: Have to drill new mounting holes

I just installed these speakers in my '94 Sonoma this weekend and I'm very impressed with the sound of the 3-ways.

Pros: The spec sheets were a big help.

Cons: Biggest difficulty was trying to unplug the switches for the windows, door locks, etc. which is GM's fault.

These speakers were reasonably priced, and far exceeded my expectations. MTX has proved themselves to me by providing good quality merchandise at an acceptable purchase price. The install was a direct replacement for factory door speakers in my 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. The hardest part was modifying the original factory speaker housing to accept the speakers. After that, the install was one of the easiest I've ever done. Using the wiring harness adapters, no cutting wires was required. Simply plug and play. The speakers provide ample bass, and also good mids and highs utilizing a factory receiver. I'm sure that would be greatly enhanced with amplification. Very pleased. Thank you.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to replace speakers in my 2006 Chevy Silverado. I wish I had done this years ago. These speakers have good sound at both ends of the spectrum and blow away the stock GM speakers. I don't always listen to music loud, but when I want to turn it up, I like good, crisp, true sound. These speakers provide that. I'm very happy with them so far and would recommend them. They fit in the front door easily and Crutchfield supplied all of the parts that are needed to make the installation a breeze.

Pros: Good sound; good fit; easy installation.

Cons: None.

For speakers with a cheap price tag they sound pretty good. I need some new door speakers for my old truck so I decided to buy these and give them a try. Once I hooked them up they surprized me for the price. They sound just as good as my more expensive pair of JBL speakers that I have in another vehicle.

Pros: 3- way Excellent Highs Good mid bass response come with there on connecters for the speaker. They get loud if you want them to.

Cons: Had to drill new screw holes to mount speaker. Wasn't a real downfall.

Good Sound for the Price

Written by: Joe from Hudson, NH on February 1, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased a pair of these MTX TN653 speakers to replace the front door speakers in my '03 Odyssey. I originally installed these speakers powered by the factory head unit. They were a definite improvement over the factory speakers. The bass response was about the same as the factory speakers but the MTX speakers have a much better midrange and treble response. I then changed out the factory head unit to an Alpine entry level head unit. The Alpine head unit improved the sound from these speakers even further and the bass response seemed to come alive. Even though these are a low cost speaker, they have a good overall sound. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who wants to improve their sound experience on a tight budget.

Pros: Excellent price, easy install, great sound for the price

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased four of these speakers for my dad's '99 Dakota Club Cab. He bought the truck with a Kenwood receiver, but the factory speakers had seen better days. I ordered these speakers and foam speaker baffles for him as a gift. They were easy to install with the included hardware, wiring harness, and adapters. We spent a couple of hours tuning the sound and adjusting the EQ and we both love these speakers! The sound has been improved exponentially! The highs are crisp, mids clear, and the low-end provides good substance with no distortion. If you are looking for clean sound and decent power in a full-range speaker, these are the ticket!

Pros: Ease of Installation, Good Value, Good Clean Sound.

Good Speakers - Great Deal

2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500/3500
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound fine, especially since the ones in my 2003 2500HD Silverado were inoperative. These are not plug-n-play. The door has to be drilled to match the speaker holes and screw mounted. The original speaker mounting is a snap-in system. The backing clips that accompany the speakers don't work for this application, but one has to expect that these speakers were designed to fit multiple applications. If you want OEM replacements (which I don't recommend) go the GM dealer $$$ or install these instead. You can't beat the price, service, free shipping and customer support.

Pros: Price and performance

Cons: Drilling and screwing

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Was looking for a little more kick than my factory speakers in my 1998 silverado and these are great! Nice and clear sound and good bass for a door speaker if you tweak your equalizer right. The free wire harness adapters were great and worked perfect. However, the included door mounting adapters did not work at all! They fit in the door properly but the mounting holes on the speakers are much too far spaced apart to fit where they're supposed to on the adapter and needed a lot of modification to work. Turned a half hour job into a 4 hour job but none the less. The speakers themselves were well worth the money and the mounting hassle!

Pros: High quality, low price, good bass, clear sound

Cons: Not compatible with the supplied mounting bracket for my application

I installed them in a 2001 nissan maxima. I was able to remove the factory speakers from the plastic enclosures and screw the MTX speakers into them so I didn''t need the brackets sent with speakers. Connected them to a Pioneer DEH 2500UI head unit. Speakers sound great! Although low cost they deliver both high frequencies and strong base. Later was at a stereo store and was able to compare their sound to more expensive speakers and didn't notice a difference.

Pros: Sturdy metal frame construction. Delivers good sound, both highs and lows. LOW COST

Cons: none..they are a great buy.

Easy instillation... was able to use original mounting brackets in my 04 Silverado doors ( just cut off the screw ends after mounting to original speaker bracket with 4 clips that came with the speakers, snap the bracket back in to place, trim some of the cardboard insulation around the door and your good to go) . They sound 110% better than the muddy stock speakers.

Pros: Great sound/ ease of instillation/ price

Not a bad speaker for the price. This speaker had more mid-range definition. The bass wasn't too bad but it wasn't deep. The tweeters when you turn the volume up start to distort and makes it someone difficult to identify distinct sounds of music. Not bad to replace a blown speaker but will probably upgrade in the future.

Pros: price, good mid-range

Cons: highs distort when volume is up, bass isn't that deep

prior to buying 4 of these i've had little experience with speakers. but i did my research and these are sensitive speakers, meaning with little power they'll do alot. i was just looking for way better sound because my speakers were sounding nasty in my 2008 gmc sierra. Best way to explain the sound of these, is sounds really crisp as far as highs, and the bass is freaking awesome from these little things! im definately glad of this decision. and reccomend it for anyone. For this price i think your getting alot more than what your paying for. installing them was super easy. Crutchfield was really helpful with everything. Now thinking of getting a stereo to get better sound out of these speakers!

Pros: Price cant get better!!

There is not much to say other than that these bad boys pump out some serious sound and never distort! I am often very underwhelmed with the bass response of speakers but these things shocked with me with how much bass they put out. Super crisp highs and very solid lows. Love these things...and for the price?! Get out of town!!!!

Pros: Awesome sound. Great bass response. No distortion. Crisp highs. Easy install

Cons: Absolutely non. Simply pair with the right head unit and you will be super happy.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very pleased with these. Despite the low price they are immense improvement over the old, blown-out speakers. It's a 15-year old car and not particularly quiet, so super hi-fidelity was not a big factor, but I think these are superior to the factory speakers even before they blew out. I hear more definition in the tunes, and audio books are much cleaner and less distorted.

Pros: Price Great Value Good Sound for the money

Cons: None, really.

Good speakers but holes didn't fit

These speakers sound great but they said they would fit my 1988 Subaru XT6 and they didn't. My car has 3 screw holes that are equidistant from each other and these speakers have 4. I had to get a custom fabrication that costed $181. The speakers are worth it but make sure they fit your car before getting them

1998 Chrysler Sebring JX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered these speakers to replace my stock 1998 Chrysler Sebring JXI rear speakers. The system pre-install in my car included an Infinity Amp (too what power specs I am not sure), with quad 6x9 Speakers (front door, rear) and two dash tweeters. So when I bought these speakers I was a little wary of how much punch they would pack when I got them. On a wim, and from my past experiences with Crutchfield (Great service), I decided to hop on these. Once I installed them I was quite impressed with them. They pack a nice little punch to them and hit nice deep bass and the highs are good as well. Wish they packed as much punch as a 6x9 of this quality would, but that is a consumer error of mine. Would defiantly reccomend this product to others, a long with advocate the great job that Crutchfield does with all of the included free necessities you need when installing speakers and other units.

Pros: Good Highs, good lows, a good quality build, for 40 dollars? And you get everything you need to install it with the ease of assistance and help offered through Crutchfield.

Cons: Well, don't know if it happened in the UPS Warehouse or not, but it looked like package was damaged on the way, looked like a rod went through it and there was a small (<1x1 cm) rip in the surround of my speaker. However, it caused no damage to the overall quality of the speaker and it still sounds great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Read this carefully. I originally bought these speakers for a 2009 Toyota highlander for my mother (only aftermarket radio, Kenwood BT555U (great radio), no amp, or sub whatsoever). The sound was very clean but had no bass compared side by side with factory speakers. My guess was that the door wouldn't help. The reason I give these speakers 5 stars is because later I installed then in an 1995 Isuzu trooper with an old kenwood (excelon X591) stereo and old amplifier (KAC7201), then the speakers came to life and sounded great with an incredible bass. My guess is that the doors in the trooper are better suited for these speakers. Last but not least, value is awesome. Service from Crutchfield as always is great, and free shipping to Puerto Rico makes it even better!

Pros: Price, Bass (depending on vehicle)

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Once installed, the speakers sound great. Very clear, even with volume turned up. However, I'm deducting a star because Crutchfield claimed these speakers would fit my Honda Pilot with minor cuts to the plastic mounting brackets that the original speakers were in. However it was much more complicated than that. The mounting brackets had 3 screw holes evenly spaced, and the new speakers have 4 holes evenly spaced, so no way they could match up. I had to drill more holes into the door panel. Crutchfield, correct your fit guide!

WOW just purchased 4 to replace all speakers in my 98 Camry le sadly 1 speaker was cracked when I recieved it. But thanks to crutchfields great customer service they are sending me a new one free of charge!!! Got 2 of them installed in the rear deck with a few freshly drilled holes.(I thought fits with bracket was different then fits with minor alteration) but who cares about a few new holes in your car. But anyway. With just the 2 new speakers replacing the factory 6x9s on the factory stereo it is a world of difference!!! Sounds like I have a small sub in the back. The lows and deep bass are spot on and brain rattling on high volume. Can't wait to get my new ones for the front. Also plan on a new head unit in the near future. I'm sure they will be even better when powered properly

Good stock replacement speakers (06 civic lx rear deck, put kickers in the fronts). Sound decent and not too bad on the wallet considering the freebies Crutchfield throws in (harness/bracket). Replacing blown stock speakers running from stock head unit. I'm sure they would be even better with an aftermarket head or amp'd.

Pros: Good sound, good price.

Cons: None so far for what I bought them for.

These are a great buy if you are replacing stock speakers. Just comparing the size of the magnet between the stock and the MTX you can imagine how better the sound will be. With the adaptors and wire harness mounting was very easy.

Pros: Price and quality compared to stock speakers

Cons: Non so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a bit skeptical about these speakers because of the price. I know MTX to be a very good speaker at a reasonable price but these seemed lower priced then usual. I have had them for two weeks and they have held up to MTX's reputation for great sound at a low price. They have actually exceeded my expectations. They are currently running on my OEM receiver and they have plenty of power output to keep me satisfied. The highs and mids are crisp and the bass response is good. If your in a tight budget but want great sound in your ride then look no further because this is the speaker for you.

Pros: Really low cost, Balanced sound, works great with OEM Receivers.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these first with my old factory stereo, didn't realize how good they actually sounded until I installed my new Kenwood head unit with 23watts per channel RMS power. They sound great with this type of clean power finally available, even better once I hooked up the sub I bought at Crutchfield and set the filters at 100 or 120.

Pros: good price, great sound with clean power once I pulled out the old unit. Installed easily with Crutchfield instructions specific for my car. I would also recommend you check You tube for your car for any install videos. I used the factory cut-outs and grills. Would recommend a power screwdriver if you have to install with new screws like I did in the front doors. The included Crutchfield adaptor cables fit perfectly and snapped onto these speakers and into the factory wiring perfectly.

Cons:

I needed something to replace the buzzing speakers in a small used car we recently bought to cut down our commuting costs. These bolted right in and solved the problem at minimal cost.

Pros: inexpensive, very nice sound.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A few days after mothers day my wife asked me "why doesn't my cars system sound like your cars system" just to inform, my ride has 6 infinity's. two 3 1/2"s for front stage, two 6 1/2"s on the front doors and 2 more 6 1/2"s in the rear deck. Guess where I bought these? correct, Crutchfield!! so back to the issue, I got online and saw these on sale, MTX 6 1/2"s for less than half the price I would pay in a local audio shop in town so as soon as they arrived I installed them with a breeze.the toyota has two infinitys on the front doors a 12" MTX sub in the trunk and the new MYX's they sound pretty nice. Great price, great speakers for the price and most important they returned my wifes sound system back to life. Thanks Bill for making me a repeat customer since 1987!!

Pros: great sound, worth more that the purchase price!!

Cons: none at all

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed four of these in a 2010 accord with the factory 160W system without sub. When I first put them in I really liked the upgrade in sound quality from the factory speakers. After a couple of weeks though, it seems like as you turn up the volume to these speakers, the treble gets higher and the bass drops out. Yes, the factory radio does this but these speakers actually make it worse. With the windows down, these speakers were almost unlistenable. I changed out to some Polks and the response is much better across the board. These are good for the price, but leave a lot to be desired

Pros: Price

Cons: Loses bass as volume goes up.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really like these speakers. After installation I started adjusting the sound quality with my receiver. I don't have any issues with these. Only thing I can say, is that with these speakers, it is a good idea to have a decent car with sound deadening or other quality insulation. My Geo Metro needs to have some work done to make my system sound good while driving.

Pros: Very good quality speakers for the money.
