About the MTX WET500.1
MTX gets WET
MTX gets WET
MTX brings their years of land-based experience to the water with their WET Series marine components. Based on their Thunder Series amps, the WET500.1 mono amplifier is designed to power a subwoofer under seriously adverse conditions. Its weather-resistant features include a conformal coated circuit board, stainless steel hardware, rubber gaskets around the RCA connectors, and plastic control covers to keep moisture from getting to the amplifier. The 500.1 also features MTX's surface mount technology, which attaches critical components directly to the circuit board to minimize the effect of vibration.
This MTX mono amp will give you great bass in your boat for many years.
Power and control
Behind the weatherproofing and the construction, you'll find a Class D mono amplifier which delivers 300 watts RMS at 4 ohms, and a whopping 500 watts at 2 ohms — perfect for driving two WET Series subwoofers. The 500.1 features a low-pass crossover variable from 40 to 220 Hz, and a switchable bass boost that'll give your system that extra bit of punch. And MTX made this amp to fit the tight spaces in a boat, with a small footprint that allows it to go almost anywhere and an extruded heat sink that'll keep things cool. It's ready to make waves. Are you?

Features
Overview: The MTX WET500.1 is a mono Class D subwoofer amplifier designed for the harsh marine environment. The amp features a conformal coated PCB, covered controls, rubber gaskets around the RCA inputs, and stainless steel mounting hardware. The output power is 300 watts RMS x 1 at 4Ω and 500 watts RMS x 1 at 2Ω.
Note: The cover over the gain and crossover controls is held in place by two 2.5mm Allen head screws; no 2.5mm Allen wrench is included with the amp.
Gain: The amp's rotary gain control is continuously variable from 200mV to 5V to match the output of the source unit.
Protection Circuits: The WET500.1 provides protection against overheating, under/over voltage, and electrical short circuits.
Crossovers: The amp features a built-in low-pass crossover, with a variable cutoff frequency of 40-220Hz; the crossover cannot be bypassed. Additionally, the amp has a subsonic filter to remove ultra-low frequencies, thus minimizing wasted power and protecting speakers not capable of reproducing those frequencies. It has a variable crossover frequency of 20-50Hz.
Bass Boost: The WET500.1's bass boost circuit is centered at 50 Hz. It can be set to 0dB (flat), +6dB, or +12dB.
Electronic Bass Control (EBC): An Electronic Bass Control (EBC) module is available directly from MTX that allows you to adjust the bass output of the amplifier from a convenient location.
Connections
Power Terminals: The WET500.1 features set screw terminals for power, ground and remote turn-on. The power and ground terminals will accommodate up to 4 AWG wire, while the remote turn-on terminal will accept up to 10 AWG wire. The set screws are loosened/tightened with the supplied Allen wrenches. MTX recommends the use of 4 AWG power and ground wires.
Speaker Connections: The amplifier is equipped with two pair of set screw terminal speaker outputs. The outputs are internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect two subwoofers. Each terminal will accommodate up to 10 AWG bare wire and is loosened/tightened with the supplied Allen wrench.
EBC Port: The amp has a 3.5mm mini-jack for plugging in an optional Electronic Bass Control (EBC) module, currently available directly from MTX (model MWA040).

I purchased this marine amp to power two JBL 10" subwoofers on the upper deck of my houseboat. I added this to the EcoXGear sound bar to complete the system. The amp works great and delivers clean power to the subs. Now you can hear me from across the lake! I highly recommend this amp.
