10" sub and 135 watts RMS
MTX designed the sealed enclosure to get maximum bass production from the stiff 10" polypropylene woofer. The durable built-in amplifier feeds the woofer 135 watts RMS, producing low-frequency firepower that's on par with that of many larger powered subs.

Customizable for your ride and your style
You can use the gain control to match this sub to your setup, and you have a choice of preamp- or speaker-level inputs for connecting to your system. The included brackets let you mount the XTL110P horizontally or vertically, whichever works best in your vehicle. MTX offers an optional wired remote that allows you adjust the volume from the driver's seat.

I've had this sub installed in my tahoe for about 2 years now. I listen to classic and hard rock and like a good, solid bass but not too boomy and over powering. This sub worked great for that. It filled in perfectly where the factory sub left off. I've had no trouble with it at all.

Thunderlink in 02 Jeep Wrangler

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for something to fill the jeep with full sound. Space is obviously a premium in a wrangler. This fits nicely in the back cargo area without taking up all the space. Sound is very good when the top is up and it is still pretty good when riding around "naked". Installation was a breeze an advantage of a wrangler. Two mounting options was also good. Another bonus is that is looks rugged which fits the jeep. As always the folks at Crutchfield are there to help if needed. If only other companies would use their customer service model.

Pros: Installation, size, looks

Cons: None yet

2014 Ford F-150 XL

I bought this MTX powered sub used. For comparison I own a JL Audio CP108L MircoSub with a W3V3 8" subwoofer ported and a JL Audio BaseWedge CS110 with a sealed 10" WxV2 subwoofer. I was using the JL MicroSub in my Ford F-150 up until I got the MTX. In a sweep test the MTX powered sub is strong to 40hz and then slightly rolls off but is still good at 30hz and is decent to about 23hz. This is really good for a $200 powered subwoofer. My MicroSub is strong to about 31 hz and then quickly rolls off from there and is almost inaudible at 25hz. The JL MicroSub cost over $200 new with no amplifier! My Basewedge is strong at about 50hz, very good at 40hz and then rolls off below the MTX level from there to about 25hz but extends just slightly lower but almost inaudible at 20hz. In listening to music this MTX has more boom than the 8" JL but nothing that is objectionable in my opinion and may be preferred by some. My JL MicroSub is slightly tighter but the MTX can get louder and the extra boom sounds good with Metallica ride the lightening or many AC/DC songs where the JL would have to be turned up to get that extra boom during those drum kicks. I'm giving this thing 5 stars because for the money its impressive. It adds that dimension to music that makes listening to music enjoyable and is easy to install and hardly takes up any space. If you set this up as it was intended for and set the gain so that the music is balanced than it does the job very well. Sounds betted SO B8-BTD

Pros: Great bang for the buck. Sounds good when tuned properly so that it blends into your main speakers and adds that missing low end that makes music fun to listen too. Simple to hook up and doesn't take up a lot of room. If this is MTX cheapest low end subwoofer driver than imagine what the others sound like. Owning two JL Audio subwoofers this MTX compares well, not better, but definitely sounds good given its price point and included amplifier. There isn't a huge SQ difference compared to my JL.

Cons: No variable frequency LP filter to help with tuning (small con). Might have slightly better SQ in a wood box vs plastic but hard to say for sure. Not a con but MTX has impressed me (ran out of Pro room) so now I'm an MTX fan. Sounds betted the SO B8-BTD I once had.

The product was as easy as 1,2,3 connecting it. Could not have been more simple! As of note this was purchased to place in a ski boat; works great! Still a MTX fan!

Pros: Ease of use, placement, and hookup!

Cons: Actually could not think of any!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fast delivery in a secure package. Good quality construction, easy to install with good install instructions AND it'll blow you away and maybe the people in the car next to you! HA HA. Excellent buy for the money. I've bought others that cost more but they never lasted over a year. I will have to see if this will make it 1 year! Bottom line buy this!

Pros: Easy to setup. It comes with a complete wiring package also!

Cons: Nothing yet as I just got it up n running.

Exactly what I needed for my Jeep Wrangler

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had a large subwoofer and amp in the back of my 2013 2 door Wrangler. I wanted something that would save me some space but would still be able to deliver the low end. If you own a Wrangler, you know the stock system is awful. I replaced almost the speakers with Polk 6.5's and this sub /amp package works beautifully with it. Saved me space and hits hard and deep. First I ordered the Sound Ordinance flat powered sub and it just didn't do it for me. Crutchfield returned it and sent this out within the week. You guys are awesome!

Pros: Saves space, and hits hard.

Cons: None.

Nice sub for my need

Good When It Works

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This powered subwoofer really took me by surprise, when it works it has a surprising punch for such a small package. Unfortunately it seems that it isn't made too well which is disappointing because I've owned a 15" MTX Sledgehammer in the past & it was constructed masterfully! I returned this particular package twice because it died after 4days of use not once but twice. Again its great when it works.

Pros: Nice punchy bass. small package with loud sound.

Cons: Not constructed well

awesome bang for the buck

Andrew from MD from rockville on 6/11/2013

I bought this to go in my regular cab truck. Its perfect, adds some thump, and for the price you cant beat it. pre amplified, all you have to do is connect it to your battery, and your head unit. Dont under estimate it, with its size you may think its a joke, but its awesome. if your planning on loosening the bolts to your truck lid, go with something else, like 2- 12's and a 1000+ watt amp

Pros: small and doesnt take up room

Cons: dont buy this if your planning on setting off car alarms

MTX XTL110P powered subwoofer

Paul from Roseville, CA on 4/19/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed this subwoofer in our 2004 Airstream Classic 30ft. trailer along with replacing the original Airstream installed SONY radio/CD player with the SONY External Input box for the Kenwood KDC-X996 radio. We wanted XM and Pandaora capability, HD radio was also something I wanted to try. I originally wanted the Infinity subwoofer on clearance but it would not fit in the confined area behind our credenza where the Samsung 32 inch LED TV and Denon Blu-Ray DVD player sit. I had to remove the wooden rear panel behind the credenza to squeeze the MTX subwoofer in there but it did fit. Most difficult part was running the audio pair and trigger wire from the overhead cabinet where the radio is installed to behind the credenza. It's a run of about 20ft. Subwoofer main power was obtained from huge battery cables running in the same area as the subwoofer going to my 2000 watt sine-wave AC inverter. I added an extra in-line fuse to add to the built-in one for the subwoofer. The subwoofer works very well, bass is tight controlled for the environment it's being used in. Adds tremendous weight and balance to the existing system before the subwoofer. Movies like Toy Story 3 and David Foster's "Hit Man" really changes the audio presentation from blah to "I want to really listen to this loud!" Although an odd installation, the product works very well and would recommend it to others.

Pros: Great quality sound. Not boomy if adjusted properly. Add huge sense of musicality to CD and DVD discs. Compact size and great value. Quiet amplifier, no buzz.

Cons: None

Why did you buy this?

It has a terminal for a remote turn on wire and that wire should be included in your separately purchased wiring harness. Just connect the remote turn on wire to the MTX and your head unit along with the other connections and you are good to go. [ Cole  Sep 07, 2016 ]
If I remember correctly you can purchase a wired remote. However unless you are dead set on this powered sub because of available space etc I would recommend consulting with a crutchfield rep and putting a box and amp package together. Had this powered sub about six months before it quit on me. This was a replacement for an infinity bass link that quit after a year. Installed a Rockford 10" sub and amp using the same wiring and have not had a single problem. In my opinion stay away from powered subs [ ROBERT  Sep 07, 2016 ]
No, but most car radios especially the DVD types will turn on the amp when radio is turned on. This amp has an input for that feature. [ Anthony  May 26, 2016 ]
If I am understanding your question correctly then yes. It is wired to power on when the head unit power on. [ Deborah  May 23, 2016 ]
Yes. But I do not recommend this product as I am in the process of having it returned. Amp gets incredibly hot even when not basing hard [ ROBERT  May 23, 2016 ]
Negative. This speaker would not hold up to a marine environment. [ JAMES  Apr 04, 2016 ]
is self contained and somewhat weather resistant, I have mine in Jeep Wrangler and has gotten wet before and had no issues. [ joe  Apr 04, 2016 ]
I don't think so. I bought it to put in the back of my wrangler [ CRAIG  Apr 04, 2016 ]
Well if you want to direct the sound towards the car rood then go4it else, to prevent overheating AND not take too much space then leave it upright. Good Luck! [ Anthony  May 26, 2016 ]
I would have to say no because of the amp mounted in the back would not have proper air flow around it. [ Eric  Jan 01, 2016 ]
Probably not a good idea since the hookups are on that side. [ CRAIG  Dec 31, 2015 ]
my dad has his plate upside down it tends to overheat and shut down. The cooling fins are located in the back for the amp. [ Andrew Ray  Dec 31, 2015 ]
