These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage. Product Research

Features

Overview: These acoustic baffles are designed to be placed behind car speakers to protect the speaker from moisture and dirt which can damage speaker components. Along with providing a sealed chamber, they also form a mounting seal between the speaker and the mounting surface to eliminate panel to frame resonance. Baffles will improve door acoustics by reducing road noise and vibrations transferred to the back of the speaker cone. The baffles are pliable and can be compressed to fit most applications.

Q
Is there any purpose in installing these in the rear deck also?

I used them primarily for looks. It just looks neater. I really can't say that it improves the sound.

A
Supposedly it helps the sound. I believe they are designed for the rear trunk deck use.

Is there any purpose in installing these in the rear deck as well?

I have 2 subwoofers in my trunk and these baffles limit the interaction the woofer air movement has on the speaker cones of the drivers in the deck. If you do not have subwoofer interference you will not notice a very large difference in sound quality.

Yes. However, I have found the bass to be weak if you don't cut out a bit of an opening into the bsck of these baffles..

Q
One customers said he put a quarter size hole in and glue 1" of fiber fill to them. What the heck is fiber fill? Did he glue it to the inside or outside. I don't think I have enough clearance on the outside. This are for my front doors on a "98 Grand Marquis LS. Thanks a bunch,

fiber fill is probably that polyester stuff that is probably in stuffed animals. It's safer than fiberglass (no issue w/ inhaling or itchiness) and available at most craft/ fabric stores. I would assume he means he dropped it on top - not mount the baffle underneath - so it just sits on top of the sheetmetal and your speaker drops on top of that.

I didn't put any glue, I placed them inside and held them there with the new speakers. Then I just cut the excess around them. It works great and sounds good.
