KOSS Pro4aa headphones- a professional's standard
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
For a professional radio announcer, the KOSS Pro4aa headphones are the industry standard. When I began my career in 1984, I noticed that every announcer had a pair of these headphones. That is because of how they work. They have excellent frequency response. They have great clarity even at high volume. They are durable enough to handle all of the on and off action they get during an air shift. They are comfortable enough to be worn for extended air shifts, 6 hours on air, plus 2 more hours doing commercial production. And the keep the noise out and the volume in. There are two things you want to happen when you turn on that microphone: out to stay out, and in to stay in. When you talk, you want to hear what is being broadcast or recorded, not your voice in the room. The KOSS Pro4aa headphones practically eliminate you hearing all the outside noise, including your own voice. They also keep what you are hearing in, by totally enclosing your ears, to prevent feedback. I have tried other headphones that I had at home, and had some accidental feedback. That can be painful to you, and to your listeners. Bonus: there is a knob on the side that I have used in the past to mount a boom mic for live applications. (Shure SM10A) I use expensive studio mics now, but for sports broadcasters or announcers at live events, it is a nice feature. Bottom line, to get clear content in the studio at the maximum level without noise or feedback, go with the Koss Pro4aa professional headphones.
Pros: can handle high level of audio eliminate external sound/noise closed ear design prevents feedback comfortable adjustable headband durable replaceable ear cushions long cable provides mobility for announcer to move freely
Cons: no color choice
