About the Crux CFD-03E Emblem Camera
Specially designed for your Ford truck
Specially designed for your Ford truck
If you're looking for a backup camera for the aftermarket radio in your 2004-up Ford truck, Crux has what you need. This CFD-03E camera is cleverly hidden in a replacement Ford logo emblem, so that you can mount a rear-view camera without compromising the rugged appeal of your Ford truck. Crux includes a cable that connects to the back of any aftermarket radio with a composite video input (does not work with factory radios). Once installed, you'll see a generous, well-lit picture of what's behind you on your radio's display, with a 170-degree wide view and excellent visibility for night driving.
If you'd like to integrate the CFD-03E back-up camera with the MyFord Touch 8" screen radio of select 2011-up Ford vehicles, use Crux's RVCFD-79 Rear-View Integration Kit (not included).
Installing this camera yourself? Here's what you should know.
What does it do? Unless otherwise noted, a backup camera is only intended for use backing up your vehicle. (If you require a front-view or constant rear-view camera, check for that capability.)
What tools and supplies will I need? A panel tool, a wire cutter/stripper, a soldering iron, and a rosin-core solder with heat shrink tubing are recommended, along with whatever tools are needed to remove the radio from the dash.
How much wiring is required? Wiring instructions vary from camera to camera. Some cameras have power wiring that can only be connected near the radio. Others let you power the camera at compatible reverse lights. In all cases, the camera must be wired for power and ground, the camera's video output must be connected to the radio/monitor, and the radio/monitor must be connected to a reverse trigger in your vehicle. Some radio replacement interfaces supply a reverse trigger wire for the radio -- using that wire to power your camera will damage the interface.
Will the included video cable be long enough? You'll need to route the camera's video cable from its mounting location outside your vehicle into your vehicle's cabin and all the way to the screen in the dash. This often requires drilling a small hole in your vehicle or filing some metal and or plastic. You'll also need to estimate the length of cable needed to run from the camera to the dash, which will not be a straight shot. Each camera's cable length is listed.
Note: A rear-view camera provides an additional view when reversing your vehicle. It is intended to be used in conjuction with your rear- and side-view mirrors to give a fuller picture of what's behind you. It is not intended as a replacement for your mirrors.

Features
Sightline Series Rear-View Camera: The Sightline-series CFD-03E rear-view camera by Crux is specifically designed for select Ford trucks with an aftermarket in-dash multimedia or navigation receiver installed. Your aftermarket receiver must feature an integrated video monitor and a composite video camera input. With the CFD-03E, you'll be able to view what's behind you on your in-dash receiver's video monitor when you put your vehicle in reverse.
Vehicle Compatibility: The Sightline series CFD-03E rear-view camera is compatible with the following 2004-2014 Ford trucks (as of 1/5/2016):
Replacement Tailgate Emblem: The CFD-03E rear-view camera is integrated into a custom-designed mounting bracket. A new Ford "blue oval" logo emblem replaces the factory Ford badge on your truck's tailgate. You will need to remove the factory Ford badge and then install the CFD-03E camera/emblem assembly in place of it. The new emblem snaps firmly into the camera's mounting bracket after installation. No mounting hardware is provided, so it will be necessary to purchase hardware from a local auto parts store.
Power & Signal Connections: The CFD-03E includes a 23' composite video cable which will need to be routed through a hole in the bed behind the tailgate and up to the dash, where it connects to the aftermarket head unit. A 30" power/ground cable is supplied on the camera end to tap into power and ground at the reverse light. As an alternative, a short power/ground wire is included at the head unit end to tap into the reverse signal wire of the aftermarket radio.
Guide Line Delete: Parking guide lines are provided on the video signal to aid you in backing up the vehicle. If you do not want this feature, two unconnected white wires on the video cable should be connected together and insulated to delete the guide lines.
